I feel sorry for Rambo he’s so much better than a relegation scrap, hope he smashes it a bags a big move along the line. Will miss him big time. Another casualty of the fast trajectory of the club.
Not knocking him...but he was relegated twice before joining arsenal. And then overnight he became one of the most highly regarded keepers in the country. May be that is the issue, may be suitors don't think he is good enough outside of a top team.
@@blackcaesar8387 Yeh you are right,i don’t think Arsenal were being unrealistic wanting at least back what they paid for him. I could see him at a Newcastle down the line. I just hope he can prove people wrong and play a big part in a survival run for them
Good deal for all involved. Top top keeper. Will surely move on from Southampton in a couple of years to a CL club after establishing himself as England number one
The arbitration amounts we will get for Crozier Duberry, Chido Martin and Reuell Walters will be a joke. What stops financially doped clubs from killing rival clubs PSR potential by encouraging them to not sign any contract? Surely the developing club should get 95% of the revenue if they are subsequently sold and that should count towards PSR If the youngster comes good and goes on to be sold for a huge fee it will be such a punch in the face to our academy coaches who spent all that effort developing them. The youth is one of the big reasons I support Arsenal and it’s so sad to see them go. At least we got a fee for ESR which I’m really sad about but if we lost him for nothing because people can approach them or their family with huge amounts of money is so destructive for the whole academy ecosystem. Surely they need to revise the PSR rules asap and make plenty of additions to the rules
Thank you for all of your content, Charles! Question not related to Arsenal-- The rumors that Patrick Bamford is going to move from Leeds, any truth to them as you hear?
People saying the price is too low but he's 2nd to our first choice keeper that we got for £27m so it probably isn't considering also that several clubs had already walked away. They also don't want unhappy players in the squad so I think it's about right.
it's £18million not 25. The add ons will be difficult to achieve. Southampton are odds on to be relegated. So arsenal are odds on NOT get the add ons. There might be a sell on clause though. But Arsenal ARE getting £18m. that's my point. Not 25
@@TwistedSoul2002 except that would get them in legal trouble if they owe Arsenal money and refuse to pay. Again, only 1m is tied to staying in the league, the 6m is NOT tied to that
I understand Ramsdale wants to play, but from an Arsenal perspective, I think it's nuts to let him go! He's still firmly under contract, so if they had kept him for this season, they would have decent cover, no hassle to find a replacement, and he would probably still be worth the same amount next season. Especially if he did well in cup competitions. I'm guessing this is about only doing right by the player, so he can try and secure his England place for the World Cup, which I understand as he's been a good servent. Except, they have been ruthless in so many other ways. But when it comes to letting players go, they just seem to want to make the players happy, rather than getting what they need... Unless maybe, what they need is to balance the books this season too?
Doing right by players is a long term investment that will serve us well in the future because players and agents take note of that kind of stuff. Just look at what is going on at Chelsea who have players that won’t see the pitch and how they are being treated. That’s going to come back on them in the future when they want to attract players
Charles, by my count, Garcia will be our 17th non-homegrown senior player. Am I right that this is the most we can have, so any last minute attacking signing would have to be a homegrown player?
Raheem would be sterling for gunners, loan ideal as no expensive transfer for proven premiership & International goalscorer who can play any attacking position. Also he could have number 10.
Raheem has been announced! It’s going to take some getting used to seeing him in an Arsenal top 😅 really hope the loan goes well for us and him. Seeing him potentially lift the PL as a Arsenal loanee from Chelsea would be amazing 🤣
Don't know if pub quiz's are still a thing but five Arsenal goalkeepers playing a Premiership match in the same week, there's a question there somewhere.
The two things have nothing to do with each other, Raya is playing for a top side and value has risen which is suppose to happen, we bought a keeper for close to 30 million and sold him for 18 because of horrible man management and directorship.
As much as I love watching football, I think 2 extra champions league games in January are too much for players. I'd rather see the high quality of football just like after the winter break last season.
The loan move for Sterling makes sense if we’re going to try for Nico Williams next year. If Sterling shines then maybe we keep him and move on Gabbi or Leo. If he doesn’t work out then he goes back to Chelsea. Personally I think he will be back to his best under Arteta.
There has to be clause that lets us bring back Viera incase we get a few injuries . Because if Odegaard gets injured i think we are in big trouble we have no one that could replace him .
I feel very underwhelmed from this transfer window. I was very optimistic at the start of it, with the feeling we will make some good sales and bring in 1 world class player and a few floor raisers. Although Merino and Sterling look like smart signings I do not think we have done enough to overtake Man City and we will have to be very lucky with injuries again to compete in all competitions. While Edu has sold very well this year, is there a question mark now over whether he can sell and buy well in one transfer window? It seems like all of his efforts can only go in one area at a time or is it more of the case that arsenal couldn’t get their true targets this year so looked for cheap, market opportunities to allow themselves to get their number 1 targets next summer? Ps. Good luck with Oasis tickets! I managed to get mine last night, absolutely buzzing!
Best of luck to Rambo showed class when on the bench obviously disappointed with but showed he was all about the team many thanks for what you did for the mighty Gooners 👏👏❤️
Hi Charles, What do you think about the links to Conan? He's a great player, when fit, but for 300k a week and his injury record it's a huge risk to buy/loan him. Would you be tempted to do a loan deal?
Whatever anyone thinks about Eddie, surely the sale only makes sense if we get another forward? Otherwise we should have kept him for much needed depth. I don't get it
Hi Charles, do you think Koeman deal is feasible? What would be a feasible deal look like? Is Koeman the lesser risk deal considering he probably is a good competitor to Saka in UCL. Gives Saka a bit of breathing space. Koeman has won so much, the winning mentality could be a boost as well. I so favor a deal (preferably a loan) for Koeman. Your thoughts? - Rakesh
totally disagree, to get that sort of money for a second choice keeper is a good deal. Would you rather we pay him to sit on the bench and feel unhappy? Raya was £27m.
@@RichardJones-p2z Assuming this is a joke? Martinez made 21 PL appearances for Arsenal before being sold. He hadn't played for Argentina when we sold him. He won the world cup 2 years after he left us. We sold a second choice keeper with a handful of appearances, not a 'World Cup Winner'.
@@RichardJones-p2z It was joke because you tried to push the idea that we sold a world cup winning keeper, who had played relatively few times and wasnt even an international at the time. presumably inorder to make it look like we woudl be overpaying for a keeper thats actually played more. Or do you just want to have a swipe at Arteta because you dont like him and want to try and twist everything you can into a weapon, no matter how daft?
Hi Charles Great show as always but I honestly think this transfer window if it stays as it is leaves us squad wise in worse shape than last season. Before the window we all knew we needed a quality left back, a midfielder, a game changer and a striker. Plus if partey was to go (was expected) a replacement for him as he’s clearly not the player he was. Calafiori & moreno come in. Good quality signings. But it goes Elneny, ESR (scandalous decision) and Eddie. So now we have absolutely no one to replace our captain Odegard or Havertz (Jesus for me is cover for Saka, not an out n out striker) our only striker in the squad if they get injured, suspended or just need rest due to this being a 60 game plus season potentially. Look at our squad size compared to city, Liverpool and even that clown outfit down the road in Middlesex n17. This is unacceptable for a title and champions league challenge. Nwaneri is 17, never started. Is he going to replace odegard or Havertz for 10/15 back to back games if needed? Not a chance. Love the show but we are not looking like we have a squad remotely ready to compete on 4 fronts. Paul Davis, (no not that one lol)
Charles, everyone said we'll be ok in the forwards because we'll have Martinelli and Jesus back firing. If they were, I would be more comfortable. However, Jesus will miss 2 out of the first 3 games, and Martinelli looks the same as last season. This leaves 4 players for 4 positions over 50+ games plus internationals. I don't think it will end well.
Might be in the minority, but believe we would have won the league last season had we kept Ramsdale in goal. Arsenal dropped points in 40% of their games before Dubai and the biggest reason for that was the change of keeper and the pressure it brought on the team and both keepers. Might have been different if Arteta was honest at the start of the season who his number 1 would be and let Ramsdale leave last summer.
I called it months ago, “every club and his mum knows Aaron will be desperate to play”. We manoeuvred ourselves into a corner with him and we didn’t well enough in the cups to give him a chance to get his place back. Imo, Mikel should have given him the last game in the UCL - it was a dead rubber. Aaron could have put himself in the shop window himself though- instead of going away after the Euros he could/should have gone straight back to Arsenal and gone on tour in the US. It’s a big transfer window for him, I can’t believe he decided to go on holiday for 3 weeks- a couple of impressive performances during pre-season would have increased the demand for him.
That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying we (Arsenal) tanked his value ourselves. Aaron could have made himself more appealing to other clubs if he had joined us on tour. All you’re saying is, “I said Ramsdale was sh*t years ago and we won’t get our money back” That’s just a basic analysis a child could have thought up.
After elimination against Bayern Munich , the feeling among the hierarchy was that the team lacked a certain X-factor in attack - something special to unlock defences on the biggest occasion. They simply forgot or dont want to win major trophy and are happy to be just amongst the top teams.
It’s a good for Ramsdale considering he is going to a club he tried to help to stay up the league last year by gifting them 2 goals in less than 15 days The game against Southampton that’s when Arteta made a decision to replace him - there was no way back for him from that day
I think Southampton have got a really good deal. You have to laugh at clubs who’ve baulked at paying £30m - all the keepers Chelsea have bought for decent money, are any as good as Ramsdale? Would £30m not have been a worthwhile upgrade for Newcastle? It’s all very well criticising Arsenal for being bad sellers (and it’s not without foundation historically), but sometimes the story is just as much about clubs being bad buyers.
Good for Arron and Smith Rowe had a good weekend. Brovo to Ben White....playing for England doesn't pay the bills. This day and age these kids are beat up way to much, they need a rest. With all the games, they are put through the ringer. Should be resting Saka more too, against the bottom feeder he shouldn't play 90 minutes.
One thing you missed in the UCL draw, you can't play two teams from the same country also. So we can't play Madrid and Barcelona, etc... at least thats what I read. It feels like this is 100% money making and by making it more super leaguey, it appeases the break away clubs
I'm getting a bad feeling that we are going to be weaker the way this window is going, we've sold nine or ten or possibly eleven first team player's whilst bringing in three, possibly four, including goal keepers just doesn't seem good, unless we get massive deals done in the last couple of hours
On Viera, other than tearing it up, there's a more likely scenario he proves isn't good enough for his 34m fees to begin with and we end up giving him away for 10m give or take... like many failed experiments before him!
rambo could have stayed if edu and arteta signed a striker last season instead of getting raya in the first place. now that he's leaving, we the fans still want a striker. the what if is if vlahovic signed with us in january 2022, the team could have been complete by now.
Putting the “Edu can’t sell” view aside for a moment. The market rate for players is lower than 3-4 years ago. Major sales and prices paid are lower than they were. Most importantly fewer of even the biggest clubs cannot support fees plus wages that they previously could. Therefore for every major player move going forward there are fewer potential buyers. This means lower fees. We will soon see if this continues only prem clubs buying from prem clubs as it will be the only source to maintain high player values. As if prices continue to fall, it will decrease the value of squads as a whole meaning club funding costs will rise. Squad value is a source of collateral for funding. If squad values fall, funding for purchases falls, meaning squad values fall as infinitum. What we will see is the same mechanism that drove higher player fees going in reverse.
The players on the bench last season, players like ESR, Fabio that kept the midfield starters on their toes are all gone. Same thing in attack with Eddie. With Jesus injured half of the season, you think I’ll get the best out of Kai with no one to push him? Our squad is thin, too thin for a title push.
Definitely think there is a chance for Viera - don't believe the club would send him back to Porto if they wanted to raise his value before selling him as the Portuguese League is not considered as high as many other European leagues. Would make more sense if they sent him on loan to a PL club as he'd get way more attention that way. Sending him back to Porto feels like an attempt to get his confidence back and at the same time putting him in an environment where we all know he'll feel comfortable.
I agree- go there and be a monster and come back physically/mentally ready. Having said that, players who do well in Portugal tend to go for big money: Joao Felix €127M Enzo Fernandez €121M Darwin Nunez €85M Ruben Dias €71M Bruno Fernandes, Luis Diaz etc… So there’s a market for them…
Wait 2 teams from each pot is 8 teams in total and with H and A games makes 16 matches in total which is 10 games more than normal…. Except I didn’t get you right Charles.
We are short of quality up front and have been for a few years now, so why buy two defensive players then let two offensive players go and not replace them 😢 , I’d buy Ivan Toney and a loan for Coman as an emergency move
I will give Edu credit he was right, I am not disappointed after the transfer window. I am absolutely FUMMING, this Arsenal merry-go-round keeps rolling. Shambolic
Side story about Chessington, I took my wife and girls there the day of the last friendly and I was meant to get the train to the match but the car broke down just as we entered the car park so I ended up having to find my way to Gatwick airport to get a hire car so we could get back to stoke, missed the game but the wife and kids had a great day at chessington.
Charles, you mention that we tanked his value, but who would've bought him for £60m? Only a premier league rival and I could only see Chelsea being stupid enough to pay that.
With Ramsdale going to Southampton we now have England's 1& 2 goalkeepers at club's at the bottom end of the premiership. Even though he wanted to play regularly I think he will regret going to Southampton.
91 goals in the Premier League last season. A club record and just 5 behind City...who have Haaland. And yet we have "fans" saying we won't even win or get top 4 this season unless we sign a striker??? 🤣 I mean honestly, did they not watch last season (or the season before)??? 🤦♂️ Do they not see that the way we play is not suitable with a traditional No. 9? Our success is down to the spread of goals- the opposition can't focus on any single player to stop because we get goals across so many different players.
the vital points dropped came in games where we largely dominated but failed to finish chances. Racking up 5-0 and 6-0 wins vs Burnley, Sheff Utd, West Ham and others doesn't get you the title. That clinical finisher might turn the Villa loss into a draw, the Fulham draw into a win, the West Ham loss into a draw. It's not about how many goals, its points that matter and we dropped too many in games we should have won. With Martinelli contributing the square root of zip, we defo need another forward option. Especially with Jesus often absent and selling ESR, Eddie and Vieira. Must sign an attacker
Good keeper and a big upgrade on Cech but Ramsdale was incapable of concentrating for 90 mins (his words, not mine) and was far too busy sticking his tongue out to cameras, bantering opposition fans and generally acting a clown. That behaviour is at complete odds with Artetas and what he wants from an elite player so to find himself out of the team and off to a lesser club like Southampton is on him, not the club or Mikel.
All focus last transfer hours getting a backup-goalie ! 🙆♂️ This must have consequences for those in charge when we win as many trophies as last season..

As for Rambo, shame to see him go. Would have been good if he stayed as a number 2. He could have played all the FA Cup and League Cup matches. Unfortunately, his lack of focus and concentration has played a part in him losing the number 1 spot.
Watch out for the cameras around the Chessington areas. You'll get charged going in and around the area. Have fun.
I will miss Ramsdale so much! He really seems like a wonderful dude, and I hope he will get to play. We wouldn't be where we are without him.
Looking at the fixtures, Sunday away at Spurs, Tuesday home to Bolton, Sunday away at City, if we must play team B Vs Bolton, regardless of the result
I feel sorry for Rambo he’s so much better than a relegation scrap, hope he smashes it a bags a big move along the line. Will miss him big time. Another casualty of the fast trajectory of the club.
With Southampton's back line, he'll have plenty of opportunities to display his shot stopping skills. Hopefully he'll shine like Pickford
I just hope he can prove people wrong and play a big part in a survival run for them
Relegation is the history of the ramsdale. Get over it
@@blackcaesar8387 No the teams he played for were relegated because of defensive issues not him personally 🤔
Good deal for all involved. Top top keeper. Will surely move on from Southampton in a couple of years to a CL club after establishing himself as England number one
Charles refused to send me an arsenal T-SHIRT but no hate I still love you channel
Heads up Charles it’s Thursday
The arbitration amounts we will get for Crozier Duberry, Chido Martin and Reuell Walters will be a joke. What stops financially doped clubs from killing rival clubs PSR potential by encouraging them to not sign any contract?
Surely the developing club should get 95% of the revenue if they are subsequently sold and that should count towards PSR
If the youngster comes good and goes on to be sold for a huge fee it will be such a punch in the face to our academy coaches who spent all that effort developing them.
His save against Leicester is one of the all time greats, unfortunately too many big errors for a top flight team
Not 25
Only 1m is tied to them avoiding relegation. The other 6m is performance based, so likely much more achievable
There’s a significant sell on clause as well so if Southampton get relegated, they will likely sell Aaron and total income would be over £18M.
The cameo at the end reminds me of those marvel teasers after the credits HAHA
Don't know if pub quiz's are still a thing but five Arsenal goalkeepers playing a Premiership match in the same week, there's a question there somewhere.
People saying we lost money in Ramsdale, I get it but in the same sentence, we got Raya less than what he is now worth.
The two things have nothing to do with each other, Raya is playing for a top side and value has risen which is suppose to happen, we bought a keeper for close to 30 million and sold him for 18 because of horrible man management and directorship.
@@CHUKS300^^
Disappointed with the transfer window, i would we would have strengthen the attack, we find ourselves with less attacking options
Hi Charles,
What do you think about the links to Conan? He's a great player, when fit, but for 300k a week and his injury record it's a huge risk to buy/loan him. Would you be tempted to do a loan deal?
Can only assume we're going to see a few of our youth team player's stepping up to the first team?
Whatever anyone thinks about Eddie, surely the sale only makes sense if we get another forward? Otherwise we should have kept him for much needed depth. I don't get it
Hi Charles, do you think Koeman deal is feasible? What would be a feasible deal look like? Is Koeman the lesser risk deal considering he probably is a good competitor to Saka in UCL. Gives Saka a bit of breathing space. Koeman has won so much, the winning mentality could be a boost as well. I so favor a deal (preferably a loan) for Koeman. Your thoughts?
- Rakesh
I always enjoy listening to your selfish Arsenal hat perspectives!
He’s a good goalie, an England international, great age, lots of experience. This price is just far too low.
totally disagree, to get that sort of money for a second choice keeper is a good deal. Would you rather we pay him to sit on the bench and feel unhappy? Raya was £27m.
@@theythinkimmadyouknowindeed. One unhappy goalie, high wages, what for?
How many important games has he started for England? Stating he’s an England international is bollocks as he never plays ahead of Pickford.
But now you seem to think we should have paid even more for said keeper?? Or are you just annoyed that our back up keeper is on loan? Or do you just want to have a swipe at Arteta because you dont like him and want to try and twist everything you can into a weapon, no matter how daft?
In my opinion your wrong Charles, we have sold attacking players and only bought one. Left ourself short for battles on all fronts….
Hi Charles
Great show as always but I honestly think this transfer window if it stays as it is leaves us squad wise in worse shape than last season.
What is the obsession with Zinchenko in midfield? Has Arteta even once played him there? It's not happening. People need to give it up.
I think Charles has his date set to the Australian time zone.
All you’re saying is, “I said Ramsdale was sh*t years ago and we won’t get our money back”
That’s just a basic analysis a child could have thought up.
After elimination against Bayern Munich , the feeling among the hierarchy was that the team lacked a certain X-factor in attack - something special to unlock defences on the biggest occasion. They simply forgot or dont want to win major trophy and are happy to be just amongst the top teams.
exactly right, since our last league title the hierarchy are only really bothered about top 4 and UCL money, zero ambition to be more than that
i still think tanking ramsdales value for a slightly better? GK is not a good move, but it's all over now.
It’s a good for Ramsdale considering he is going to a club he tried to help to stay up the league last year by gifting them 2 goals in less than 15 days
The game against Southampton that’s when Arteta made a decision to replace him - there was no way back for him from that day
I think Southampton have got a really good deal.
This window is getting a 3/10 for me at the moment. Not signing any wingers/strikers is unforgivable.
One thing you missed in the UCL draw, you can't play two teams from the same country also. So we can't play Madrid and Barcelona, etc... at least thats what I read. It feels like this is 100% money making and by making it more super leaguey, it appeases the break away clubs
I'm getting a bad feeling that we are going to be weaker the way this window is going, we've sold nine or ten or possibly eleven first team player's whilst bringing in three, possibly four, including goal keepers just doesn't seem good, unless we get massive deals done in the last couple of hours
we should sign coman to bolster our attack. idk why we’re bidding 20-30m for a 2nd goalkeeper
You can say Ramsdale was worth 50m, but no one was ever paying that for him
For white fan
Feeling sad and happy
But the main point is I want to be he is happy his decision
On Viera, other than tearing it up, there's a more likely scenario he proves isn't good enough for his 34m fees to begin with and we end up giving him away for 10m give or take... like many failed experiments before him!
rambo could have stayed if edu and arteta signed a striker last season instead of getting raya in the first place. now that he's leaving, we the fans still want a striker. the what if is if vlahovic signed with us in january 2022, the team could have been complete by now.
The price for Ramsdale is so low, I think he is worth way more then that regardless of whether he played that much last season
No body wanted him , not much choice for him
Unfortunately there isn’t a big demand for Gks this summer the market dictates the price
£10M profit
He can’t play out the back properly. Onana cost 50 mill and won the champions league he’s not worth as much as arsenal fans think
Add into the equation how much he is receiving in a Wage to sit on the bench. Better for the books to go. 😢
This is becoming a joke really. They won’t have any time to deal with a forward due to having to proceed and bring in two keepers. So short upfront
Do you think they work on deals sequentially? lol
Gonna be a short trip today then Charles as it's Thursday..
Charles, when we signed Aaron presumably there were add ons, how much of those has actually been paid considering how we used him?
Having said that, players who do well in Portugal tend to go for big money:
Joao Felix €127M
Enzo Fernandez €121M
Darwin Nunez €85M
Ruben Dias €71M
Bruno Fernandes, Luis Diaz etc…
So there’s a market for them…
The problem with Ramsey is his head not his goalkeeping ability
Have fun at Chessington Charles!
Wait 2 teams from each pot is 8 teams in total and with H and A games makes 16 matches in total which is 10 games more than normal…. Except I didn’t get you right Charles.
You don't play each team home AND away, either you play them home OR away.
Shambolic
Should have kept him; should have cost more...
Vieira is one of those frustrating players whom I feel Arsenal should have long sold. Hopefully he does better and we sell him to fund a solid RW.
With Ramsdale going to Southampton we now have England's 1& 2 goalkeepers at club's at the bottom end of the premiership. Even though he wanted to play regularly I think he will regret going to Southampton.
the future is hard to see young padawan
Shouldn't we have put a call back clause in the ramsdale deal.an injury to Raya and we are stuffed
I think right now, I don't really care whom leaves. I just want to continue progressing 🤞
Whoa, whoa, whoa… Does that mean we don’t get Watts & Benge (cue the theme to ‘The Sweeney’) this week!?
Chelsea has around 15 goal keepers get one on loan
Good keeper and a big upgrade on Cech but Ramsdale was incapable of concentrating for 90 mins (his words, not mine) and was far too busy sticking his tongue out to cameras, bantering opposition fans and generally acting a clown. That behaviour is at complete odds with Artetas and what he wants from an elite player so to find himself out of the team and off to a lesser club like Southampton is on him, not the club or Mikel.
You got your wish, we finally signed Neto... well not that Neto but I think it's a good signing anyway 😅😂
All focus last transfer hours
