About Hell of a Week:
Nothing’s off limits in this weekly late-night series as Charlamagne Tha God takes on topics permeating politics and culture in a variety of deep dives, sketches and social experiments.
Hell of A Week with Charlamagne Tha God airs Thursday nights at 11:30/10:30c on Comedy Central.
The Colbert Report was amazing. They should reboot it with Jordan Klepper, or someone that can tolerate these lunatics.
I dunno. Kinda like Stephen said... it used to be a funny bit, but... I just don't find the right wing wackiness funny anymore. It's dangerous and depressing.
@@hawkname1234 They basically upped any potential parody. It's like The Onion articles that seem believable.
They tried it with Jordan Klepper’s The Opposition. It was good, but not great.
Like Colbert said, it’s not funny to dail up Fox to 11 anymore. It’s just depressing because they are at 13 already.
@@NuiYabuko
Onion articles actually are believable nowadays.
@@charlcoetzee3358 you should check out tooning out the news though, it's the only show that gives me that vibe
I love seeing Charlemagne’s and Stephen’s friendship play out on their respective shows.. You can tell it’s mutual respect and love for each other.
and they are who they are, not hiding themselves or masking themselves for each other. It's honest. I like that. Authentic.
Holy crap, Stephen is a potty mouth. It just never felt like it before because they always bleep out the profanity on his show.
I really enjoy how the new school is interviewing the old school, having an honest dialog, and really sharing in-depth perspectives. Their individual ways of telling a story are both good in their own way. I like the contrast.
No laugh tracks, no fake laughs, no BS, just a good interview. LOVE IT
No fake laughs? Okeedokie
Haha... his laugh is cringe.. he laughs before a punch line. So phony.
There's a live audience.
So glad he mentioned Jessica Williams for Daily Show host. She was fantastic as a correspondent and I would love to see her return.
But she's not very funny. She might be good if they want a more serious slant. There's not enough of a PC crowd to support the show with her as host.
I thought she was hilarious and wonderful, but it seemed like she didn't stay very long and I always wondered why-- of course, she beautiful and amazing so that's obvious, but still. I have thought of her for that role since Trevor announced. BUT, I adore Roy Wood Jr and he's really paid his dues. And honestly, I don't know how deep Jessica's political chops are, but Roy has been doing a podcast as a feature under the Daily Show banner, and that man is deep. His grasp of the issues and ability to both spell it out and hilariously riff is unusual.
Once Trevor leaves, the show will incrementally wane in popularity. I definitely won't watch if she's the host. Anyone whonisbchosen solely in the basis of race, will tank the show. Trevor is actually funny. But because the Daily Show is written by other people, it weakens his comedic edge in my opinion. He was way funnier before he started The Daily Show.
I prefer RWJ to take over the show
I like how he answered those 1st few questions. Very honest and real. Not just giving him the fake answer he wanted...but the Real Answer he and we All NEEDED. Thanks Colbert. I respect you for your realness.
Jay C, I absolutely agree with you. I love Stephen Colbert ❤️
There is nothing REAL about Stephen Colbert. It's like you've never watched an episode of The Late Show.
Are you kidding me?
Are you kidding? He didn't even give a real answer to the problem of diversity.
@@johnjackson3885 He’s a pundit, not a politician. That’s not his job. It’s his job to help us find a way to laugh at the insanity in politics and the problems facing us today.
I like Colbert a lot. He seems like a genuinely good person.
I believe he is 😊
Yeah. Me too 🥹. He’s genuinely a delicious nerd
He is & so is his wife.
I know, right! He’s great!
He's not, he's a corporate Democrat shill.
"I don't know who that is" perfect response when asked about TC.
👆
Damn he’s the exec producer for this show? Nice to hear the show is in good hands
Yes!
I finally get to see Stephen Colbert be himself without the editor's beeping him out.... this was pleasant thank you!
That guy has to read everything.
Never expected I would hear Colbert would say "f**k you up." Had to rewind several times.
@@JadenKaye it made me happy to see him smile like a 5-year-old that got away with something bad. 😆😆
He's very cool.
Rocker person here. Saw C. sticking up for all peoples on yesterday's feed..grateful for that. Now seeing his casual but interesting interview..new fan. This is tailormade for him..thoughtful questioning and listening this nation needs!
I like the fact that he nominated Roy Wood Jr. ...I like Klepper a lot as well but I think Roy would be a better host and Klepper should continue with the field pieces
For the sake of diversity, they shouldn’t have ANOTHER black dude host.
Frankly at the rate things are going, I'm afraid somebody's gonna take a shot at Klepper if he keeps doing the field pieces. Maybe they should stop when they change hosts.
@@Mister_Vyar Honestly yeah. With what happened with Mr. Pelosi.....
They really should stop. There will never be a way to repeat that magic though.
I'm not sure Roy has the right energy tho. I think Michael Che, perhaps even joined by Colin, would do a great job. Their brand of humor is a lot sharper than Trevor and I think it could give the Daily Show a new life...
@@romangysse3690 Could he do interviews as nicely though ?
This has made a lot of sense for minute. You both pull from a similar place inside but provide your own seasoning on food for thought. Top notch buffet talk.
I love me some Stephan Colbert ❤️
👆
I'm so glad this video popped up to show me this show existed!! Two of my favorite dudes!
Great interview questions 👌🏻
Love how Colbert's wit and personality shine when he gets the chance to improv with someone he feels comfortable with
I love Stephen Colbert (and actually got to meet him once when my friend stage managed his show “Wigfield” and he was very nice), but it’s so cool to see him just be himself here instead of the “host” persona he has to put on for the Late Show
Comedy Central needs to advertise their shit better. I love Charlamange The God and had no idea he had gotten a regular gig on Comedy Central. Time to look some shit up.
I watch SC every week night and had no idea he helped to put your show together Charlamagne! This makes sense. Loved the convo here, y'all feed off each other's energy really well. P.S. I think Robin Thede would be amazing as the new Daily Show host.
Love thevhair!
Yes! I would tune in to that!
And they both went to Northwestern
And they are from about the same area. I think SC is from the Greenville area and CTG is from Charleston - Monks Corner. People don’t know SC is basically a distant mentor to CTG. That’s why the interview was so smooth they both get the jokes and can go back and forth.
This was a fun interview to watch! Two awesome people together in one room! Stephen is a great guest and Charlemagne is a terrific interviewer!
when you're taping "The Late Show" @ 5:30 but you gotta drop by Charlemagne's gig right quick @ 6
Colbert is my favorite! Love..Love..LOVE that guy!!!
That dap at the end was SOLID tho!
He’s arguably the most real late-night hosts or full time correspondents out there.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Cobert report! I am glad I purchased “I am America and so can you”!
Oh! I knew that Charlemagne was a favorite guest of Colbert’s, but I had no idea that they worked together. Good for both of them 👍🏻
YES Colbert endorsed Roy! I second that. Roy would be awesome
"Wow" is right, Steven COlbert!!! 👏🏽 🙌🏽 You are a gentleman, a scholar, and a genuine.
Keep doin what ur doin!
With you all the way.
Great interview 👍👍
I have not heard of this show until the algorithm sent me here. I really enjoyed the interview. Stephen Colbert is my favorite amongst the current late night hosts, and CTG is a legend I have enjoyed since bro code. He seems in his element in this format, and good for him. I will definitely be subscribing.
Roy Wood Jr. is also who I hope gets the Daily Show. Fingers crossed :)
He has paid his dues, he's much sharper than some people here seem to think and they must not have ever heard Roy's podcast. But who knows what will happen.
I would like Roy Wood Jr. as the new Daily Show host..."believe me, it's for the culture."
He is much quicker than Trevor. Older too! My preference.
🙌🏿
Or Dulce Sloan 😊
He's perfect. My number one pick too. I love whenever he has that disappointed look on his face. That last traffic report bit with Trevor was great "go do your own damn traffic report" 🤣
How bout Jon Stewart? I hear he's working again 🤷🏿
Colbert the GOAT. Man he's down to earth - great man
This collaboration is nothin' but genius! CTG is whip smart and keeps great company! Love this show! Thank you ✌
I was inspired enough by Stephen Colbert's passion for the the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to volunteer for enlistment. I concur with Stephen. Roy Wood Jr. would be fire.
Thank you.
Hell yeah he would! He’s so funny, and so down to earth…I listen to his Job Fair podcast and he talked about putting his name in for it, I really hope he gets it!
I love me some Roy Wood Jr.!! Kenan Thompson is GOLDEN and about to take over SNL... he also has his own show, he could do SNL then run over to late show. I love Colbert for his funny but way more so for his FAITH that we share. Comedy has saved my life so many times. I love you all THANK YOU!! 😊 💓
@@WhistleblowingGoodWitch I couldn't agree more.
Wow Charlemagne asks good questions
What an incredible interview. Both great!
Hearing Colbert swear was music to my ears
He is not funny at all just 100% woke
Colbert is an intelligent, interesting and politically engaged person. He doesn't go around just spouting buzz words, he has thoughts that he formulates into full sentences. My brain appreciates that part lol
Good interviewer too.
@@rick6582CNCMedicalParts Jealous. You felt the need to comment. If he isn't funny, move along. Gutfeld has satire on FOX ENTERTAINMENT.
@@rick6582CNCMedicalParts Interesting statement from someone who probably power-dreams of the 'good ol days' when men were men, women were chattel and non Whites knew their place.
@@rick6582CNCMedicalParts At least he's not talking stupid.
Love their collaborative
Hassan Minhaj 🙌🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥
GREAT interview. MUCH respect!!
Wow Colbert bump right here, just like back at the Colbert Report. 👍
Love them both. The presence to keep that patter going and be entertaining but also actually insightful is phenomenal.
Trevor will be difficult to replace with just anyone, since he brings a certain cosmopolitan and worldly view to his show. He speaks several languages, thus, he can read and digest what the people in the world thinks. Trevor is a sophisticated, charming, easy on the eyes, kind of comedian.
I will really miss him, I was a fan of his from the first broadcast of his show.Jon Stewart picked a genuine winner to replace him.
Who else can they find to defend Kanye?
He's a thoroughly unfunny D-bag.
When Stephen described how Charlamagne was a great guest: “You come from a different perspective, you’re honest, you’re shocking, you’re not afraid to offend people …” that was a pretty accurate description of what I admired in Charlamagne when I first tuned in to The Breakfast Club. Candor is hard; it’s a gift. Or else the result of a lot of therapy.
Hearing Colbert cuss was the funniest shit I've heard all week. He is a gem. Also Sam Bee would be an awesome host.
It was so unexpected too...
How is it not Hassan Minhaj? Last team member Jon Stewart hired, staff of Trevor Noah, ran his own satire news show, and hella funny and cool. Not even mentioned?
Based on his last comedy special, he’s not funny anymore.
Such a great interview!
Colbert looking up and thanking God for nailing that first response
Great episode good guy love to see all people come together refreshing 😎👍🏾👍🏾
I can think of 2 hosts without a show who may be able to host the Daily Show, Samantha Bee or Hasan Minhaj
After seeing Hassan’s new Netflix comedy special, I think he lost it. I don’t find him funny anymore.
@@saar144 nah he’s still funny its just this special was a lot more personal and hard hitting, he toned down the comedy for this because he wanted it to be more open and honest.
I hope for him that it was a decision on his part, but I fucking loathe these Anna Gastby-esque type of comedy shows.
@@saar144 it’s what he did it on his own show several times
Minaj is brilliant, edgy, funny, with a unique POV. Also, frankly (like Trevor) easy on the eyes. He would ba a masterful choice!
I love this idea!! I have been in a sad state since Patriot Act got canceled, so putting Hasan as the new host of TDS would be medicine for my soul!
ok.. ya huh... I'm def Roy Wood Jr first vote -- but Hasan.. wow i didn't even consider just bc he has Patriot Act. Is that show over OVER? Hasan def has some chops Roy doesn't, but idk. I think Roy would rise to the occasion
Hassan will misinform ppl about his terrorist religion
I read this and wondered, Nicki Minaj? Of course, you are referring to Hasan Minhaj -- hard name to spell but it's all relative. Spell check does no favors by continuing to change it.
@@clumsiii Yeah Hasan only got 2 seasons, our household was bummed. I hadn't thought of him for TDS but he's brilliant.
I like the small, intimate, audience! I also like the way Stephen spoke directly to members, the way audience members could interact directly with him, and the genuine feel of this show. I mean, CharlamagneTheGod was openly reading his questions off the cards in his hands. I think that's awesome, because it's bullshit to believe that talk show hosts have every question memorized. They may come up with a lot of their follow-ups on the fly, because they're sharp people, but the initial questions and the background details are written down and visible to them throughout their interviews. This is much more honest.
Desi Lydic is the funniest woman in the lineup. Are you kidding? You would jump her for race or gender or age? That is nuts. She is brilliant.
She is the funniest woman with her satire, which was a major staple of the show with JS, less so with Noah but still a big part of TDS. It really will depend on who can bring a unique perspective to the show I think, if Noah gets to pick. I'll have a hard time watching it without him though, I was a huge fan of his before he got the gig and an even bigger one now.
Ladies and gentlemen. The Colbert bump. 🤌🏽
I loved the Colbert Report. My nephew introduced me to it!
now THAT was entertaining!!! Thank You for helping me laugh for a change instead of getting angry about the state of the world.
I miss the Colbert Report so much
For real
It was awesome 😎
Oh shit I didn’t know Colbert was an exec producer. I knew he was the homie
dude watch him break down Chance and Childish Gambino's collab
Keep up the good work!
I love Colbert and Trevor, both are "must watch" to me.
Desi Lydic. Absolutely.
If Roy Woods Jr is the new host of The Dailey Show I would actually start watching it again
Nice interview!
I love how many of the conservative guests of the Colbert Report didn't understand that he was playing a character making fun of people like Bill O'Reilly. They would come on his show thinking it was going to be a softball interview and get demolished.
Jon Steward vs O'Reilly damn that was fun
Hearing Colbert say fuck unbleeped just warmed my soul a bit
Gotta love Stephen Colbert

Comedy ninja. This is a really good interview.
I didn't know he was the executive producer of this show. That's awesome
I read a story during covid when Trevor was doing the show from his house that Comedy Central was planning on cancelling the show. I hope it doesn't happen and I hope they get a great new host.
There's no way that was Trevor's actual apartment. If anything, I think that was an apartment they rented as a set. Might've been in the same building as him, or close by, but I highly doubt that was his actual place.
@@gorak9000 why do you think that?
@@gorak9000 what??? You weird
@@gorak9000 He said it was. And Colbert was out of his house for several months, and Seth Myers was in his own attic for almost the entire time, then he was in a summer house in New England somewhere.
@@victoriabaker4400 But John Oliver was in his "Void" which you assumed was in his house, until he said "no, it's somewhere else - I couldn't do it from my house", and then I questioned whether the rest of them were actually in their house, or just a house-like place that the network rented for them. Colbert really was in his house (if you knew where and how to look, you could see 'behind the scenes footage' - though at one point that wasn't broadcast he mentioned that it used to be John Dickerson's house - whether he bought it directly or the network bought it for him to use during covid - who knows). In comparison to the others, Trevor's place looked so bare - like they put minimal effort into getting a couple things on that shelf behind him. And then at the same time I read some article about some multi-million dollar house he had in LA as well, and I'm like "yeah, I'm pretty sure that's not his actual apartment in NYC - that's just some space they rented for him". Be careful what you "assume", and taking what you're told at face value - it might not always be what it appears at first glance
Trevor Noah has continued Jon Stewart's great job of developing talent that Comedy Central suffers from an embarassment of great choices to replace Trevor. Any one of the current crop would be an excellent choice!
I just found "Hell..." and it is a pleasure to subscribe. Charlamagne the God, hmmm...? He's sharp and as we said back in the 70s, calls it like it is. Thank you, CtG and SC!
Good stuff 💪🏼
I loooooooove tooning out the news!!
I love hearing 22's Mr Rogers curse.
Jordan Klepper should have been the next host. Roy Woods Jr. is good too. Dulce Sloane is good.
He had a show a few years ago and it flopped.
Jordan klepper… first choice
Klepper is white. Don’t think that’s gonna happen
I want to like Dulce, but tbh she doesn't make me laugh. Neither does Desi. Ronny is hit or miss. Roy is great, Michael is decent.

Nice to see Stephen acknowledge Roy Wood Jr. Roy is the boy!
Right on. Roy would do a good job, I would like to see Ronnie in the seat. It would be a good opportunity for him to exhibit his range. Aloha
Epic, cheers
LOVE these two gents...
Comey Central needs to bring back more standup.
Colbert is what you call a good boss that knows what's up and keeps it real. That daily show comment was gold, I think Roy could work but Trevor is just too good he over shadows a lot of them while still let them shine, it will be a lot of pressure for the new host for sure.
It was a lot of pressure for Trevor Noah as well, he received a lot of hate, but overall, i think he did quite well. i believe the next host will also manage
Colbert report
Loved it from 1st to last episode
Here's looking at you Charla!! Looking good.

One of my favorites🌙 ❤
Charlamagne, you are great. Never stop.

Jessica Williams! Come on now. I wanted her to be the host before it passed to Trevor, but I would be so stoked to see her in the chair. She's a blast.
Roy Woooooood Juuuuniooooor!!!!
Yes ROY FOR HOST
I am fingers crossed that Roy takes the reigns. Roy's got it! He's hilarious, he's experienced, and he's got variety. Roy!
keep up the great work. we must resist.
All of the Daily show correspondents are pretty good in their own way, but I don't think any of them are at Trevor's level. It will be very interesting to see who is going to replace Trevor.
Hard shoes to fill. His internationalism has been such a brilliant contribution.
I never watched this before but I will give it a shot...
