Last year, when my family and I were staying in Rome as part of our Italian vacation, that elephant was on the base of the obelisk near the pantheon and just outside Santa Maria sopra Minerva, just near the AirBnB we were staying at. The facade itself did not seem like a lot to look at, but the interior was an absolutely stunning piece of Gothic architecture, and I’m told the church was built atop a temple to Athena and Isis.

Pope Fights VII: Steel Pope Run
Pope Fights VIII: Alexander the Great
As soon as I saw this video, I screamed "POPE FIIIIIGHT!!!" and scared the cat, my roomate, and my fiancee. Totally worth it.
Pope Fights 3: a Good Day to Fight Popes
08:22‐ "by a metric Habsburg jawline" has to be the greatest description I have ever heard! XD
Please consider looking into Lucrezia Borgia, she was a fascinating character, who had a major smear campaign against her by her father's enemies. She was a patron of many renaissance artists and, despite being used as a pawn, managed to establish her own power base in the end. She deserves better than "did incest and poison" meme.
0:01 I came to learn about Pope Fights and was pleasantly surprised by this title card - and the description! Excellent way to Do Your Thing while showing respect.
Supporting terrorism should never be supported
1511-1513 XD
Pope: backstabs France
England: Did someone say "war with France?🧐 Let me just grab my brolly"
Scotland: *overhears England, collectively draws claymore * "Die ye English [incoherent string of expletives deleted]!!!"
Ah, western european politics.
Wait no not western european politics god no
Im loving the expansion of different angles of the profile drawings. As an artist and long time binge watcher of the channel. It looks great!
1527? Rome? Why am I hearing awesome soundtrack that no way can be confused with song about crusades?
At 4:36 you can clearly see that Pope Julius II died at age 69. You don't even have the audacity to say "nice". Come on, the warrior pope deserves better.
I was him in past life
Okay, was there EVER a time when Europe wasn't some kind of mess?! 😯
Sadly it appears not
Ummmmm. . . No
Ice age was pretty clean?
The Jurassic era?
Pax Romana (more or less) and (so far) 21st Century post-Yougoslavia ?
4:11 I see you there, JoCrap, you lovable Wiggler, you. Also, the fact that you guys are aware of JoCat just makes me really happy.
Italians during the Renaissance: ‘make NSFW art Blue can’t show on UA-cam’
Blue: “Bruh,” ‘censors it with PG-13 swim trunks to avoid getting demonetized’
"ruled like a roman emperor" (remembers all my baptist sunday school teachers teaching that the roman catholic church is a direct continuation of the roman empire) sounds about right...
Oh, so that one comment about indigo breaking your saber during past livestreams was actually foreshadowing about a meme here huh?
Alejandro Vinasco It was Cyan, his fiancé, who broke his sword.
JoCat beautifully completes the feeling of absolute chaos necessary for this episode. Good choice, Indigo and Blue.
Pope Fights 3: The Sequel We Once Again Asked For and Got
"Slow and Steady gets the spaghetti" needs to go on a T-Shirt or something, that is GENIUS.
9:15 In the heart of the Holy See, in the home of Christianity. The seat of power is in danger!

Yes that’s blue for you...
Yep, it's not a Blue video without at least one mention of Venice :)
Congrats on 1.25m subscribers, you two are the best

I assume Scotland joined in just to fight England? That or my understanding of Scottish-Italian history is seriously lacking.
Great stuff as per usual - plus, of course, Pope Clement VII being under Charles V's Hapsburg thumb after 1527 was the main underlying reason why he ultimately couldn't have given England's King Henry VIII a divorce from Catherine of Aragon - Charles' own Auntie no less! - even if he'd wanted to, leading to the Break With Rome and all the various other Tudor shenanigans that followed, yes...?!
i have a request: could Red do a video about Otohime? i just read the story (Urashima Taro) and it facinates me, also i love Dragons
Blue, as an absolute history expert, and one of the best researcher (Red included in that of course)
I am wondering if you could do a special on the history of the Sikhs or Sikhism?
I have a few friends who follow this, including a couple neighbors, it would be nice to find out more about their history without insulting them.
Can we get uhhhh, a background music list or something? The song at 2:00-ish pops up in a bunch of your videos and I'd love to get hold of it for personal listening.
5:57 : My professor summarized that by "when one side takes the lead, all the others gang up against it"
* video starts * cue game of thrones theme song
Also, I wonder if there's an off version that's not copyrighted because that would be hilarious for this
Love that 'They Live' reference. "Julius II promised to kick ass and hire Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel's ceiling. And he's all out of ceiling"
9:12 _Bell starts to ring_
"In the heart of the Holy See, in the home of Christianity..."
THE SEAT OF POWER IS IN DANGER
"You're excommunicated!"
"Yeah, I don't care."
"Oh no! Apathy! MY WEAKNESS!"
-Oversimplified, "King Henry VIII"
@3:41 I almost spit out my drink at that one XD
Ha ha, "pontifical meme-ery" is one of the things that keeps me coming back. Thanks for the shout out at the start to the issues that matter in current history/present day social, cultural, and political circles.
Love your content! I think it's cool that you fence... Even if it's ahem, Saber. But seriously I'm a foilist and love your content!
That Jocat insert. Nice. Good to see that good UA-camrs have equally good taste in what they watch.
I love how Clements looks absolutely done with the Papal States.
Thank you for supporting this cause without abandoning the personality that makes us eager viewers and fans. The pre-roll feels genuine and human, like Blue and Red are sharing something personal, as opposed to the clever craft-work of lawyers and PR reps. It is refreshing -- thank you.
