Duncan Trussell On How To Take The Best Ride Through Life | Aubrey Marcus Podcast

- Опубліковано 23 тра 2017
- This is one of my all time favorite conversations with comedian, philosopher, and fellow psychonaut Duncan Trussell. I can’t think of a better time to bring this conversation back to the collective. Duncan Trussell and I discuss how psychedelics are challenging the stories about how to heal trauma, the reality of how small our fears are in comparison to the divine, and the illusion of control that we all love so much.
Don't miss the incredible part about how the placebo effect works and why people have been taking psychedelics and plant-based medicine for thousands of years. We also discuss why people are into microdosing, its effects and what the potential ramifications are for people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

47:55 Importance of letting go and not holding grudges

Psychedelic is the answer to most severe anxiety and depression. The use of magic mushrooms completely helps one get over depression and makes you feel like yourself.
I’ve been thinking to use psychedelics for my anxiety and depression.
Anyone know where I can source them?
Is he on Instagrm?
Yes he is… dr_derekk
I just had my first experience with penis envy, it was really great! I loved it.
Never had a bad trip with DMT
The algorithm has brought us back to the truth, my brothers.
The people who have done psychs and still believe they aren't the answer are the same people afraid of facing their own emotions
kris hicks Dude I’ve been wanted to try mushrooms for such a long time. I’ve done a lot of work on getting my mindset and outlook on life a lot better and more positive, but after hearing him talk about the translation barrier and translating it to the rest of the world, IM SO INSPIRED and the desire to do it is stronger than ever. I want to expand my mind, I want to be that person to make the world a better happier place.
@@Bexxaa your merly an expression of who you say you are. If you "want to be" then you'll suffer cause you'll always "want to be" that person. don't project that who you want to be is in the future cause you're already that person. all you gotta do is just "be" you. we all are the light and love in the world.

could listen to duncan say “Hey Man” every day of my life.💆🏻♂️
Strange how true that is!!
Would be an awesome ringtone, "hey man, your phones ringing, hey man, your phones ringing" 😂😂😂
You could use it as a text message alert.
you know how to use the recording application on your computer, right?
So true
Duncan has walked the dark alley and came back to make jokes about it.
I love that man.
Trussell isn't a man, he's an overgrown drug test lab rat.
Every politician should go through a psychedelic experience before becoming one. What a better place the world would be
Then they wouldn't want to be politicians!
@Toxic Potato I think your theory explains a lot
Toxic Potato Toxic Potato I wanted to go into politics, but even as a child I understood there were barely any improvements, it’s just a headache, filled with big babies. But back to your point hell yes, you have to be narcissistic to push through all the other psychos, Earth is psychologically lost man I swearrrrr
They do... Ad the world is no better for it.
Also: "Congratulations, Mr./Ms. Capitalist on making your first twenty million. You've won the Money Game! Here's your megadose of psilocybin mushrooms. Now eat up, or we put you on the 90% taxation plan." :)
I was at a party once on lsd and realized that my body had a perfect design, a perfect way in which to stand, balanced with gravity and everything, i chose to allow myself to be that way, all of my ills dissolved in what i imagine were seconds. i'd had historically very tight shoulders, back pain etc. moments after this feeling washed over me, i saw a friend dancing down a hill towards me, she felt obviously very happy and wanting to make others feel better she offered me a massage, touched me a little and said "oh you dont need anything" we just smiled at one another and she went off to find someone who did need her. i think, if we stop inhibiting our perfection, it will be there, where we left it, before any service interruption (learned behavior)
Mine was this fragile crystalline i felt like instead of a precious heirloom of perfect form that you would never want to scratch or tarnish but instead of carrying it and worrying about dropping it, instead my legs were the stand propping up this fragile crystal perfection, i became obsessed with feeling like i might break or chip away. I finally propped myself upin a field and looked at the sky but it was sheer terror marveling at my crystalline body while simultaneously feeling extremely fragile and breakable.
this has to be in season 2 of The Midnight Gospel :)))
he should do an episode with hamilton morris...woops, just gave him a gem
omg this would be so good, especially after the end to season 1. Fun to think what they would do with animating this one.
not with those poopy mics
Wahosken yeah that's true fr
Can we start asking when well see pendleton ward on a podcast?
I wanna get up in that giant gorgeous head a moment bro
Love that guy
Duncan, the thing I love about you is that you don't have a rap. Every time I hear you, you're saying something different and fascinating. That's incredible, and rare.
Thats what these psychedelics do... they recalibrate your brain. What you're seeing is pure.

"I just love that we're in this bubble here in the west and its like nature itself is attempting to get into our brains and in our bloodstream to make us stop (destroying nature).
15 mins into it and this thought hits me really hard. Duncan has a really beautiful mind.
to see Duncan dialog with Joe Rogan is an experience in brotherly love and how the two of them together is so much more than one plus plus. Beatiful minds like these are such a blessing to listen to, we are lucky to have UA-cam. I think this freedom Duncan exhibits in his actions and his willingness to share his experience and thoughts with no edit button has given me the challange to reaally explore life more fearlessly and honestly. What a cool roll model.
Not just nature... its trying to get us to stop destroying ourselves.
Edit: We are nature though... maybe its just nature. 🤔 Hmmm... lol
Never heard of this podcast before, clicked for Duncan. Great episode, engaging host, I'll definitely be back for more in the future.
Max same here

YES. i love this guy already.
Ya'll dont know about Aubrey!!? oooof! Welcome to Zone
Aubrey is the 🐝's knees.
I only know a few people that has conversations as unique and genuine as this. This is why I listen to Duncan's podcasts, my daily social interactions leave my brain anorexic sometimes and I need food for thought.
I wish this was the type of conversation I 'd have whenever I step out of my house. I feel my spirit being nourished.
Kenny Fernández Same here! Listening to both of their podcasts certainly helps. Been listening to Aubrey and Duncan from the start and that's the closest I can get to having these type of conversation in my own "bubble".
@@ocelotl7892 : )
Have you listened to Jordan Peterson?
I mean Peterson is a serious approach. What I dig about Duncan amd Aubrey is that they are also like children. Playful and excited.
Kenny Fernández Yes, indeed, I see him like a teacher who shows you the practical side of things. Another one of my favorites, who is also practical, but less serious than Peterson, is Chris Ryan. His podcasts definitely feel like conversations among friends.
@@ocelotl7892 I will look him up.

This whole episode I was just imagining Clancy and some other world being just taking a chill stroll through a horrific landscape
6 years later and this convo is still solid gold🌟and btw....their baby faces, omg 😍
amazing how old those headsets look 6yrs later
I have had to forget everything I knew as truth so much during my 51 years in this place that I’ve finally started to smile most of the day.
Spent a few days in a sweat lodge with some Navajo friends. I didn’t believe them when they said medicine but it helped me, opened my eyes.
People who grew up in the 60's taught us about all of these things back in the 90's and finally we are openly talking about it outside of the forest and drum circles. We have known these fantastic miracles for a long time. Let's continue to spread the word by speaking people's language.
Ya. I remember being a hardcore raver as a young dude in southern california, in the early 90's, taking acid, etc...it was, IMHO, just neohippy-ism.. straight mystical experience, full on hippy style, just a different aesthetic...drum circles, etc
@@jessemontano762 Keep the love going! Let those experiences be a reminder.
If a man quits war before he goes to battle, he beats PTSD before the experience.
And then just gets ptsd from losing a war with a country who’s soldiers DIDNT quit for fear of a mental illness. Double edge sword on this example. I get what you’re saying but also, can see where it makes no sense to this. I can avoid getting cut by not using a knife, but I cant skin my animal to make my clothes to survive the winter
How am I only seeing this now for the first time? Perfect timing though!
For me too. Six months later, and for me it feels like it's to the minute perfect timing for finding this conversation.
Favorite moment - -----Aubrey Marcus - '' It's almost like there are two ways of remembering who you are and your true nature , there is the way of enlightenment of mind expansion remembering that we are all connected to Source and connected to love and that we are Consciousness.Psychedelics, meditation, yoga and all the other different methods . Whatever means you might have to find that.. Or, you just hasten your way to death, where you just self-destruct your way so that you Oh yea I will get there that way.. One way or another, perhaps the greatest human drive is to find your way back to that consciousness, find your way back to God, one way or another.. Through death or through ascension before death.
Duncan Trussel - '' wow that's deep man your like '' I will just destroy my body as means to achieving enlightenment, through the disintegration of the individuality via death..
hayyache love this, thanks! 40:38
Speaking from experience being a junkie is a strict observance of self diminishment and no attachment to preference. All options of anything are superseded by the one thing destroying you. I never felt closer to death and god.
Kevin Buxton There is definitely something to that. Pretty deep man.
@@kevinbuxton8577 I agree . For me It's almost as if I am self- destructing as a form of self-immolation. I am wanting to find my true essence so bad that I will almost kill myself to allow pain to be a catalyst for growth. Im still relapsing from time to time but I feel like I am breaking through and finally seeing the light.
@@lukasvilla2657 that sucks dude are things really that bad

Aubrey Marcus Wim Hof! breaaaaathe.
Love the whole conversation you two have! Both your mind states flowing and sharing is always amazing! Every time I talk about Peru and ayahuasca I show people all the times you explain your experiences Aubrey and people get hooked and understand it a little better. One day I will share in that experience you had because of your words and I look forward to my own internal battle! Stay amazing!
I've always loved sharing with others yourself and Anahata speaking about rebuilding positive and negative receptors in your own psyche. Thanks for everything Aubrey.
PS: that was healing trauma and planting roots at about 34 minutes in.
If you guys create another separate podcast together, even if it is once every few months, would be so cool! you two have an amazing spiritual chemistry.

Duncan on Healing/purging, : like a bat flew out of me or something
listening to this at the end of one of those days where you feel so fucked and far from where you're trying to be is a real help.
My first time watching this dude’s podcast. I’m glad the host is intellectually capable of conversing with the one and only Duncan Trussell on an even playing field. He can hold his own, and is reminiscent of the legendary Joe Rogan.
That bit about translation is really important. I tried to show my dad an episode of “The Midnight Gospel” and he hated it, just completely went over his head. Idk how to explain these concepts to other people in a way they’ll accept but I understand completely. I wish people were just a little more open to changing/opening their minds.
The only people who enjoy that content and actually understand this stuff are those who have gone down the same... rabbit holes?... we have. You have to want it.. To the average person, people like Aubrey and Duncan sound like drug addicted degenerates. They've been condition to believe this their entire life. But there's an awakening happening.
Maybe "Midnight Gospel" isn't your Dad's language of understanding. When I am having a hard time sharing with someone I try to bring the ideas to them on their level. Find something that he relates to and start from there. He might not ever enjoy or understand the medium that is "Midnight Gospel" but if you find a thread of commonality between his perspective and the window that you're looking at the world from the two of you may be able to see some of the same colors. And that may be a good start. Good luck friend.

Hi @aubreymarcus just to say Mooji isn't Buddhist, but discovered his true nature through Christianity then Hinduism & now transcends traditional religion. Thank you though for the amazing podcasts & all you do!
My dudes! I spend all day almost every day listening to some of the most brilliant people in the world converse and debate one another, and yet this conversation in 56 minutes just blew those talks out of the fucking water! I just want to sit in a room with the two of you once a day for an hour for the rest of my life.
Two of my favorite people together! 🙌
Check out "The Midnight Gospel."
Him talking about video games 20 minutes in reminds me of how Dark Souls helped teach me to deal with stress better.
This is my first exposure to Aubrey Marcus, excellent host. I wish other hosts knew more about the "alternative" information that Aubrey does. Our society has such a split personality disorder created by our media and I see within Aubrey a well rounded common sense approach to life who disregards ego and approaches situations from a learning perspective vs. a struggle/fight perspective.
this was excellent, Duncan never disappoints, we need more of these two
You guys are the best, thank =]
Reading and hearing about that 'pesky little side-effect' was a pretty large influence in my personal decision to separate from the military.
What a great chat! Aubrey seems very rooted in positivity.
Been following Mooji for a couple years. His words will take you to places that the medicine takes you too. His words of grace from the place he resides will take you to your unborn self and realize its you and it lies dormant in many human beings. Thank you Aubrey for your life. Its enjoyed and helps many humans re-discover who they are
Duncan is a national treasure
When he mentioned the Aurelius’ quote about rage, off the top of my head, the original analogy is that it’s like putting poison in your mouth to spit at the target of your anger/rage-it’s inevitable for you to swallow some yourself.
Duncan is my favourite person on this planet.
Wow, this has been a lovely hour. You put the truth across so beautifully. Thank you so much, it was just what I needed.

Psychedelics' abilities to help people go well beyond the placebo effect.
They promote neurogenesis and neuroplasticity.
So Clever Mr Marcus, to give OUR main man the Harry Potter Wand to hold and behold..... he is on his way now. And all thanks to your invisible language. Thanks. Cant wait to hear Duncan tell us all about his journey.
Need an updated 2024 Duncan Trussell podcast :)
Duncan has a very inspirational energy about him, a very passive nature, and I wish people would just sit and listen to what he has to say rather than just "yep" "yep" "yep" as he talks, and add some uneducated witty remark to what he's saying, showing they don't perceive the depth of what he's trying to communicate. I don't host a radio show, so I don't know what it takes to entertain people; therefore am not in the know.
Good conversation to listen to however.
Aubrey is very insightful, and is inspirational also, I think sometimes his strong masculine energy gets on my nerves sometimes though haha :P
I wonder how Duncan's back is doing right now.
So happy I smoked a blunt right before I watched this! Great stuff!!
Hey man I just discovered your podcast through Duncan! Great stuff. 👍🏽
36:10 I never noticed but Duncan DOES indeed have a raspy lesbian voice. That was some great self deprecating humor.
I love Duncan and his voice, sometimes I just worry he isn't strong enough to follow the good in all he does and has definitely dabbled in some of the Black "Magick"..... He seems obsessed with Crowley.
Aint nothing wrong with it. But it can be hard times lol
this is so solid. I love Duncan but Im impressed by Aubrey!
This was refreshing and enlightening, i really needed to hear this, really made my day.
If I remember correctly, most shamans say that DMT is like a feminine spirit, and they say that the spirit showed their ancestors the caapi vine to make ayahuasca. Which who knows it could have been trial and error, but its pretty uncanny that its the only way to make ayahuasca orally active.
Uncanny for sure . How did they figure that one out?? There's so many different kinds of plants, herbs. That I believe that the Spirit DID show them how to make it
The first time i did lsd i remember sitting there thinking "how can i hold on to this wonderful feeling when I'm not on acid?"
It’s not about holding onto that feeling, it’s about realizing that it’s always there
I love the the talks here are so real. I hate when my mother in law, husband, and everyone around gets so offended when I say fuck, or other words... thank you for being yourself and not using horrible fancy words to explain something that we all need to know. Thank you.
He chills with Cowboy!! This might just be my one of my favorite podcast hosts
One day I'm going to hangout with you guys !
it does seem like that would be da shit!
You can do it brotha
Any luck yet bro?? We’re rooting for you
