Hello. Which lamp is more long-range, ASTROLUX FT03S-SBT90.2 or Convoy 4X18A-SBT90.2? It is a pity that we did not compare these two lanterns in this video. It seems to me that these are direct competitors.

I know just the torch the box came in pristine shape all the way from China to New York. When I opened it up, I’m not gonna lie. I fell in love with it. It definitely is not shipped like Olight where you get all the fringe benefits. I’m gonna have to learn this flashlight.
Mine arrived yesterday, and although it's a bit bigger than what I expected, it's a real beast with enough flood to light up the environment while throwing far enough to shed light on distant things. It's my third SBT90.2 light (the first was the Astrolux FT03S, the 2nd was Lumintop's X9L), but it's the most useful of the three IMO - and it was the cheapest by far! :)) Yeah, I had to get accustomed to the UI, and I don't really like that the 4X18A also memorizes the turbo, but other than that it became one of my fav lights! (And I have over 40! :)) BTW, I just love your reviews, I wish you all the best and keep 'em coming!
This light is an alternative to the Acebeam K30GT which costs more than twice this convoy, it's a great deal. I was already expecting convoy to put an sbt90 emitter in their soda can body at one point, soda cans are the evolution to the typical "maglite" form factor. More capacity, bag friendly, car door and glovebox friendly. The maglite shaped body is much longer and takes 2X 26650 (Convoy L6 for example) versus 4x 18650. It's easier to find premium 18650s than 26650s too. Samsung, Sony, LG... there's a bunch of options because of the notebook and car industry. Anyways, it's an excelent search light. May get a bunch of new lights at 11/11, my lights are already decades old, time to upgrade is coming and this will be in my radar for sure. Thanks for the review.

I bought a Soffrin Q8 Pro and I'm seriously disappointed in it. It puts out a lot of light, but so much gets reflected back it kinda blinds you so the 11,000 lumen turbo mode is a waste. It also has really shit throw. On Turbo it wasn't able to even those 200m. I think I should have gotten this one you reviewed. Maybe next year.
Thank you for this review. I hesitated with the Astrolux EC06 but the review on 1lumen and the opinion of Piercing The Darkness put me in doubt. On the other hand, this Convoy is unanimous. As soon as a promo code is available, I take it. Very impressive. The Lumeniac (BLF) test convinced me too.

Just use ramping to redce the output slightly for a longer run. The Nitecore TM39 can handle it for only 4 minutes and it's much larger and costly. The Astrolux MF02S V2 steps down in just 30 seconds and that also costs much more

Hopefully, if Simon gets my adjustments done correctly, but I kind of doubt it. He kind of rushed a new gasket to be made instead of waiting for my precise measurements, I didn't even provide the culpm1 adjustment, only the cslnm1 which is different
Btw, I got my culpm1 installed, with the adjustment, and it turns out it's no more throw than the L21A. Only the cslnm1 throws further (modded) than the L21A cslnm1 with the factory gasket. The only difference of Simon's culpm1 version will be the weight and worse cooling. At 5A using the cslnm1 the L21A gets roughly 16 minutes before reaching 50°C and the L21B only achieves 3 minutes. The 8A driver with culpm1 will be much shorter. The thing with the 8A driver is it's on a timed stepdown, so it'll get very toasty

Nice light. Any way to get the button to be back illuminated to find it easier in the dark? It already has the LEDs there but the firmware doesn't allow it to light up during operation. Any DIY hack available?

I wish you used more relevant lights to compare the Conv0oy too, other lights WITH the Sbt90.2 emitter. I see no point comparing it too an MF01s flood light with 18 emitters and 15k lumen. Maybe you didn't have more sbt90 lights I dunno. 🤔 But a useful review all the same.
Is it me or is the green tint really yucky in low/medium- like reminiscent of Cree emitters from 10-15 years ago? I know most people will only use this on turbo for short bursts but would have been nice to be able to have good tints on lower settings for general outdoors use.

As far as 18650 unprotected cells go I think you should always go with at least a 30q level battery. Whatever little bit extra capacity you can get in another less powerful cell just isn't worth the tradeoff in safety and function. That's my opinion. Cheers.

yes, they make the 4x18a with two different emitters to choose from. the one in this review is a sbt90.2 which has very good throw, and high output, the downside is it drains the batteries faster, which isn't a big issue in a light like this since it has 4 batteries. the other emitter option is the xhp70.2. similar output, but not as much throw, and doesn't drain the batteries as fast

I use 4 LG HG2 18650 3000 mAh batteries. But the batteries are leaking I don't know if the batteries are faulty or the flashlight itself is faulty? I charge it full but I find batteries are empty in a week even if I don't use it. Anybody suffers from this?

Parallel as I can remember. Samsung 30Q/Sony VTC6 etc will work fine.

MF04S is more for sustained search and rescue. For canping and casual use go 4X18A
