It might be a tad controversial, but artists want you to copy and learn from them. Why else would we create art tutorials, books, and online classes? We too, get inspired by other artists. The more sources of inspiration actually, the faster your own style can evolve. Just don't try and sell something that is heavily inspired by someone else or claim it as your own. Be respectful, give credit to the original creator, and make clear that you use it as a way to study, not for profit. Julia, thank you so much for sharing this, and for delving into this topic that I love so much! You’re the first person to make a video in response to one of mine (that I know of), so I’m feeling very flattered right now 🥰. I love hearing your perspective on this topic, and I really love your idea about doing a master study using different media from the original artist. What a fun idea. Also, your artwork is so beautiful! Can’t wait to follow along with your 30 day challenge!
Thank you for all the love Sarah 🩵 I‘m glad if I did your video justice and love that there is less and less gatekeeping when it comes to art and knowledge. Thank you for sharing so freely and let‘s go hang out at a cafe and draw together if we ever get the chance ✨ (Seoul has beautiful cat cafes, although I doubt I‘d have the patience with fur babies walking across my art 😸 I admired your calm in your video so much)
