I have a steel pipe 7 1/16" OD. I just need to seal it since it is abandoned.

What do you do if the top is flared? Mine measures 6.25 ID and 6.75 OD and finding a cap is not easy.

but that cap will not keep bugs out from going into the well casing since it has no gasket. Do you caulk the cap also?

How dow size your pump before drilling the water

You can approximate based on nearby wells or talk to your local NRCS office or local driller. Some places they can guess pretty accurately.
