Can I just say I have spent hours watching your content. It’s engaging, informative, and covers an underserved niche on UA-cam. Your testing methodology seems to be practical and your experience in home cleaning really lends a lot to your credibility.
@ it worked like all other mops. It was ok. I bought the kinda basic one with white and blue at Walmart. I’d skip all these and get the steam power mops from crosswave or shark. These pad mops just spread stuff.
I owned the Shark S3501 for 3 years and used it regularly. It did an amazing job at mopping but I would like to add something that might save anyone purchasing some trouble. In the long run the small hoses that provide steam to the mop head will begin to leak and the mop will start dripping water all over your floor as you mop. Also, the cleaning pad although not as easy to put on and take off did a great job until after a number of uses will start to slip off. The steam will begin to wear out the velcro tabs and they will become useless in securing the pad onto the mop head. It became very annoying when trying to mop and you constantly trying to re attach the pad. This happened to all our pads (6) in normal rotation in a 1200sqft space. If not for these issues I would purchase again. We will be trying the Shark Genius next. The pad attachment seems to be a direct fix to the previous model and only time will tell if it will begin to leak or not. Truthfully the pad slipping off is enough of a reason to spend a little more for a better engineered model. That being said, I cannot speak on the Shark Genius but will soon find out. Hope this helps anyone still unsure in their decision.
Was watching the eureka vs bissell affordable vacuum vid and was hoping to find a shark steam mop review that was just as thorough. You were again the first option and did not disappoint
I love how you do your reviews! Love that you even start with a definition of what a stea mop is because I only had a vague idea about it. Love that your explanations are thorough yet concise. Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing :)
Subscribed after watching just 1 video. You know exactly what to say in terms of what we want to know. Covered every point thoroughly, you kept in mind to refer to them as the cheaper or expensive one and also their actual name. Summed it up very well AND kept it all very simple. Just amazing. Best review.
I have the Lift Away Pro. I *love* that thing, and beats the hell out of mopping. Sure you have to clean the pad all the time, but compared to the bucket and work of a regular mop, not to mention the ultra fast drying times of a steam mop, I'd certainly buy it again.
Your channel is what I turn to now when i need to buy a new floor cleaner wether it was my robot vac, a new upright vacuum, and now a steam mop. THANK YOU!
I agree on both your choices.. it is a lot of fun to clean with steam, they are GREAT for stainless, granite and quartz...I do NOT recommend using ANY steam on real finished wood bc it tends to exacerbate any scuffing on the finish and it will make those scuffs more visible by getting water under that surface. I've used both units, but the white one opens up a world of use: the thrust of the little nozzle attachment offers crevice cleaning on a whole new level.. it even makes ease of bigger projects with grease like viking stoves and tough grout lines
Thank you! I have a Shark steam mop S1000, the one with only one side, and I like it very much! I wanted to gift one to someone who has a lot of wooden floor space, and, thanks to you, I see that they are all great products, so any one I decide on will be great. However, I do like the fact that the Lift Away Pro has a flip, two-sided mop head, which means you can get twice the cleaning done without having to stop and replace it. And, the accessories are very nice, too! Again, thank you for posting!
I like the video, however I would like to see a comparison with other brands...not just Shark. Maybe Shark vs. Bissell Powerfresh steam mop since it's a top seller and has higher customer reviews?
Well about a year ago I decided to buy a Shark. It’s one with the double easy change head and the extra steam for sticky marks. It was great at first, but the I spilled something on my lounge floor. I live in northern Portugal and most of the house is tiled apart from two rooms that were laminate flooring and the stairs that are solid wood. Anyhow I didn’t want to haul out the mop just for a smallish spill, but got my roughing cloth and cleaned that square. I stood up to fin one beautiful, clean off white tile...the rest were darker in places. I noticed that these tiles have a sort of waves surface that reminds me of say York stone only much less deep of course. Obviously my super wavy head was not cleaning into the uneven bits..leaving them grey. So, we bleached and scrubbed the tile till they were as bright as new. We thought that perhaps the Shark would now keep the surface clean. Unfortunately not. It’s some months on and it is back to square one. My lounge/diner, my hall downstairs and up plus an extra staircase leading to the laundry, all are in this same tile! The bathrooms, ensuite, gust bedrooms are all with a smooth tile that it cleans well, along with the laminate but the rest of the house....is grubby looking. Not what I’d expected of Shark with its glowing reviews from my American, Canadian and Brit friends. I bought it via Lakeland in the U.K. and rang them recently to ask if there was an attachment that might help. I was told that there weren’t....and without a second thought I found that the lady had refunded me the price of the Shark! Very impressed. Now to find something that actually cleans my awkward tiles that doesn’t cost a fortune! Btw, after watching your video I really think you should trial your steam mops on different types of surfaces!
Nicely constructed video and very helpful. I received a Shark Genius for Christmas and am very pleased with it. Our home is mostly hardwood and tile, and the Genius cleans efficiently, effectively, and without residue as with our previous microfiber manual mop and cleaner. The steam selector allows me to use low steam for hardwood and high levels for tile, and the quick release mop pad is literally a genius invention that saves time and my old back from bending over to change the pad. I do use the steam blast function to sanitize the floor and drain in our walk-in tile shower. I highly recommend it for those with multiple types of flooring in their homes.
I bought the Shark S1000 at my local walmart for less than $60. And for me I LOVE it! I have had more expensive steam mops in the past and for me this little steam mop works just as good if not better.
I have got s3501 about 5years so far so good except very hard to push stick to work on without automatic turn on a switch . So now my hubby loves to deal with mop on the tiles than me.
I am so happy he reviewed Shark steam mops. Ive been on the fence about buying one. Ive owned two Shark vacuum cleaners and a hand held for cleaning my vehicle. The only reason I have two vacuums is because Ive downsized my living space and decided a Rocket was the way to go. There is nothing wrong with it but Im short and the Rocket is pretty tall so its a little awkward, but it still works great. My other Shark vacuum needs some maintenance. First time since I purchased it in 2012, so I think its safe to say, "Pretty good track record!" So now, Im off to buy a Shark steam mop!
Not sure if this is a coincidence or if your video blew up around the same time I watched it, but the purple one you recommended as #1 went from $60-70 to $135+ and out of stock almost everywhere in my area. I just bought the genius one, it's apparently on sale right now for $100 on amazon. Your videos are great. I like seeing the performances and WHY these different features are worth the extra couple bucks.
Crazy that they changed the tank to be a premium feature. I had 2 when they first came out and the tank was removable to do other tasks, what they're calling" lift away" for a hundred bucks. They also only lasted a year so... there's that. But I love the new feature of the mop head folding out, that's much more sanitary
Also, get the S3501 if you don't care about durability. I had one of these and it worked great...for 2 yrs and then just stopped working completely. We only used distilled water in it so the issue wasn't mineral build-up - it's just cheap. We have been using an Orek model now for about 6 yrs.
I don’t think thats happening any time soon, my Dyson V11 has a massive battery and can only output about 600w for 8 minutes. I guess they could do a kettle style version where they heat a lump of metal up to 300C or so then use that stored energy so you can unplug and mop away but not sure people would understand so could be difficult getting buy in.
I can't see why it cant be cordless. They hold like 300 ml of water. All you would need is to plug it in for a minute just while a secondary heater gets the water up to 95 C and then battery power is more than enough
Anas Malas Hi, LOLOLOL Great idea... I am genuinely laughing because I had a similar idea years ago but then found out how much energy it takes to get water through the phase change to gas. I didn’t realise this either and its kind of crazy when you first think about it but then it makes perfect sense. It takes a similar amount of energy to phase change from ice to water i.e. 0C - 2C as it takes to get water from 2C - 70C. Its the phase changes that take most of the energy. When I said its obvious when someone points it out to you, think about it, if all you had to do was heat the water from 99C - 100C to turn water to steam your kettle would boil instantly and explode about 10 seconds after you hit the power button. What actually happens though is you put 3KW into the kettle constantly and only get a tiny amount of steam coming out the spout, I don’t know exactly how long but it would probably take about 20 minutes of 3KW to get all that water from 99C - 100C and through the phase change. If I haven’t explained that well, let me know and I’ll try and do a better job. Keep thinking of ideas though, I haven’t had my big one yet but maybe I will one day. Actually I did have a good one about 15 years ago when hair straighteners became a massive thing and that was to use super heated steam to deliver energy into the shaft of the hair as steam conducts heat far more efficiently and touches a greater surface area you’d be able to straighten the hair with less total heat energy meaning you’d damage it less but get a better result... Anyway a couple of years ago my partner said you know that hair streightener thing you were on about years ago.... well its been released and its called steam pod or something similar. Anyway she bought one and its amazing... the best thing she ever bought blah blah blah. I was genuinely upset that I hadn’t done anything with my idea especially when I saw the crappy job L’oreeal had done with designing the product around the basic idea.
Lucky me! I love my purple Shark mop. My daughter cleans condos and people put things in the "garbage room" that are good and are meant to be shared. She found this mop sitting there and gave it to me. Yes I love it! Works well, is light, and is much easier to handle for me than my old microfibre mop, considering I have RA.
I got the green and white one for $30 at walmart 2 years ago and I love it. It definitely has a small water tank which is a downside because even in a small room I will need to refill it a few times however it is definitely a great buy if you're on a budget. My mom had a much bulkier purple one years ago. I loved the way it cleaned but the bulkiness made it annoying and it eventually broke after not a lot of use. When I moved on my own I needed a good mop because all of my flooring is laminate hardwood and especially with a dog and a toddler it's really nice to have it. Another downside is that it only came with one pad and I couldn't seem to find a place where I could purchase extras for this particular model. I wound up purchasing a large pack of off brand replacement pads. They are a little bit larger but they get the job done. It was necessary because I will go through multiple pads in one cleaning. Although if anybody has advice on how to properly clean the pads to get all of the dirt out I would be grateful for your input.
Got the S1000 with the Shark Apex "TruePet" bundle. Even though it laughably simplistic juxtaposed against the approaching overengineered Apex, it still works well and does make a noticable difference on our hardwood floors, and I am pleased with it.
I would really like a general steam mop comparison, especially ones that can be used with the attachments by hand (similar to the Lift Away Pro here) and also whether you think a steam mop or one of the floor washers, like the crosswave for example, are better. Thanks, as stated several times here, your reviews and comparisons are simply the best
I picked up the purple one at a thrift store for 6 bucks, I love it so much, my only complaint is that I have to buy distilled water because we have hard water.
@@2010sinnamon use the aqua crest filters or water drop brand water filters. they are $20 for two on amazon and they last a good while. Yes, they do help reducing impurities that cause hard water
It really is up to your preference on whether or not you like to store attachments to your shark or care for special steam beams. Sometimes people prefer less bells and whistles
I got the purple Shark steam mop a couple of weeks ago and it has been great at cleaning my floors. Just saw you had a review on it and that made me feel better knowing I made a good choice. Thanks for the great content, I've been following your channel mainly for robot vacuum content (went with the Roborock S4 when it was on sale) and you have never let me down. Thank you so much for the hard work.
I went with the s1000, it's already compatible with my reusable pads and honestly it's quicker to swap out than the flippy mops. Just step on the pad and lift mop to remove and then stamp the mop down on a new pad, boom 3 seconds and I'm ready to continue mopping and didn't touch anything. Flipping the head is is cool and all but all these triggers and stuff is a tad too high maintenance for me. Attachments are cool too until you need to store them then it's just taking up space.
love your videos. I have a cleaning business and I made the switch to Shark after watching your "stop buying cheap Vacuums videos" lol best decision ever. I dont have a steam Mop but may consider getting one.
It is music to my ears to hear that you swapped to a closed vac. Thanks for sharing. Make sure you know a flooring is ok for steam before you use a steam mop in someone else's home.
I have the Shark S1000 steam mop and I LOVE it. The only thing is I have never found any replacement mop pads anywhere so the two I have better last forever. 😅 Also even though the water tank is pretty small, I’ve never ran out of water while mopping.
My advice to anyone who want to see mop is please make sure that you can use it on your floors because if not it will dull and scuff up your floors like crazy so please make sure your floors can handle the steam
I actually read my instructions and to disinfect you have to move the mop at a pace that is damn near stand still. A regular old mop is much easier for me.
I bought the purple one and the Hoover floormate. Now I’m hooked with the new shark vacuum map. I’ve already had way too many cleaning tools - but the only ones I use everyday are roomba’s vacuum and mopping robots.😂😂😂
Thank you!!! I am in the process of wanting/needing a steam mop!😊. I’ve been dizzy with trying to decide best option..cleaning ability and price. You made my choice so easy now! God Bless you sir ☝🏻🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I wish there were reviews of steam mops that assessed longevity. I've been binging mop reviews for days and all the low star reviews involve longevity. Seems that the heat wears out the parts anywhere from 2 months to a year and then they leak all over the place. Since most reviews are "just bought it, used it twice and love it!" it makes it hard to make an informed decision on buying as you don't know if those who had the mops break on them just got a bad mop or if it's really a fault of the models.
I had the purple one and adored it, gave it to my dad and then got the turquoise one and I hate it sooooo much. The pumping action to get steam out is way to difficult and annoys me with how much effort it requires. I'll be buying the lift away mop soon and donating the current one I have.
I had the Lift Way, Pro. Honestly, I never used the attachments. maybe once or twice. Too much trouble. I would go with the less expensive next time around.
I have the purple Shark steam mop, great product, but he warned the metal on the pole get extremely hot when in use and even for a while after, and I once burned my hand after I had gotten done using it and was trying to wrap the cord up.
I recently purchased the S1000. I had 2 shark steam mops previously that I received as gifts. They were all the simplest of design and cleaned OK. I would ONLY want to use the single sided pad since it is much easier to remove and clean! I will also say that the is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! They do NOT answer their phone and there is no way to email or ask a question so you are on your own after you purchase. Of course this company is not about quality but only quantity in sales.
I have the Shark click and flip S6003 which is absolutely totally brilliant other than one major problem. I have to use de-ionised water or else my steam mop will die from calcium deposites on the element within 3 months mopping 3 times a week. They either need to use a muuuuch larger heat exchange so it takes much longer to foul or make the element accessible so it can be cleaned.
Libro Cortar Jamón a cuchillo If your floors are smooth tile or laminate then yes they are great. If you have a tile with a slight tooth however the answer is no. Mine just doesn’t get down there and you only notice after a few months...and have to scrub the floors. That was a huge disappointment for me!
I have been looking at this as a Christmas gift for my son whose apartment is too tiny for big pieces of cleaning equipment So thank 💐 you very much for the information shared here! Happy cleaning, Merry 🎄 Christmas, lol! 👍🌈🇨🇦🎄
@@VacuumWars , Vacumm wars, I have had the shark genius for a few years i dont use it often, im not sure why. I just bought the bissel powerfresh with spot boost to scrub my kitchen grout. One reason is because the shark doesnt sanitize the floor unless you heat it for 30 seconds, then use it for 3 total minuets. And then its ready to use to sanitize in which you must make either 10 or 15 passes on the same spot for the spot to be sanitized. The bissel says to sanitize you heat the machine for at least 30 seconds, then make 3 slow passes on the same spot. The bissel stands up by itself. But the quality of the plastic used feels so cheap compared to the shark. I also like the shark has the double sided pad you dont have to touch. Also the fill cup that attaches to the steam cleaner falls off on the bissel but stays on, on the shark. I havent tested the temperature between the two yet. Plus the bissel has the grout scrubber on the model i bought 1806. And seems to work pretty good.
Cork Sauve No, I have one and the slightly uneven surface is never clean into the wavy, York stone like finish. But odd does clean the grout quite well.
I actually have the S1000 and I also ended up getting one that has its water tank, so far I like it better than my Bissell because I don't have to wait forever for it to heat up and the steam pump to actually start putting steam out.

I agree!👍🏻
Same!!! When searching for a review I get so excited and happy when he has one for what I’m looking into.
Oh wow - thank you!

I've had both and still prefer my shark steam mop as well as the vacuum
Bissell mops break in less than 2 years and bissle customer support will not honor the warranty for the product or the parts.
I have had the inexpensive steamer for years. I love it.
When you showed me the attachments.
I am about to upgrade.

I love this mop🌼 I have a crawler all over my floors and I feel better knowing there are no chemicals used when cleaning. The tank is a great size!

As soon as he said the lift away pro was a garment steamer I was sold, thanks!
Glad to help!
Got the S1000 with the Shark Apex "TruePet" bundle.
Even though it laughably simplistic juxtaposed against the approaching overengineered Apex, it still works well and does make a noticable difference on our hardwood floors, and I am pleased with it.
Please do a comparison with Bissel and other brands too! Thanks
Buy a $10 water filter from Amazon and connect it to your hose bib
@@Nintendude2013 is that called a hard water filter? I need something like this so bad!
@@2010sinnamon use the aqua crest filters or water drop brand water filters. they are $20 for two on amazon and they last a good while. Yes, they do help reducing impurities that cause hard water
@@Nintendude2013 were getting a hard water tank soon, Ive had one of those filters at my last house and it worked great
score!
appreciate you making a clear recommendation. too many "its up to your personal preference" videos are rather useless.
Thanks.
I just sprang 80 bucks for the purple S3501 and 4 extra pads, I think it did okay and I'm excited to get my floors done!!
So a comparison with Bissel steam mops is next???
Agreed we need this
I agree too!
Bissell Symphony 🥰 Vacuums & Steam cleans at the same time
Yes please!!
Stop reviewing sharks. The company makes chincy products designed to break.
I have the purple one and it works great for most floor types but we have travertine in our kitchen and the steam softened and lifted the grout out.
Good to know! Thank you for sharing.
Yes my shark is the boom!! I have the purple one!! For yrs now love it!!! I don't need a fancy one.
My advice to anyone who want to see mop is please make sure that you can use it on your floors because if not it will dull and scuff up your floors like crazy so please make sure your floors can handle the steam
Thanks.. I just picked the cheapest one up yesterday. Works great and picked up missed dirt my traditional mop did not and the wood looks shiny!
Great to hear!
I actually read my instructions and to disinfect you have to move the mop at a pace that is damn near stand still. A regular old mop is much easier for me.
Jennifer 873 Yes, shark acknowledge that they won't kill bacteria on floors in normal use, they do kill most bacteria that it lifted onto the pad.
Spencer Wilton Cant you just use a disinfecting solution on the floor along with the mop?....
I bought the purple one and the Hoover floormate. Now I’m hooked with the new shark vacuum map. I’ve already had way too many cleaning tools - but the only ones I use everyday are roomba’s vacuum and mopping robots.😂😂😂
That is awesome!
I still have a Haan Steam Mop, one of the first steam mops on the market, created in Japan. These Sharks are interlopers.
Thanks for this! Decided today that I wanted a steam mop. Glad to see reviews 👍🏻
Glad I could help!
Thank you!!! I am in the process of wanting/needing a steam mop!😊. I’ve been dizzy with trying to decide best option..cleaning ability and price. You made my choice so easy now! God Bless you sir ☝🏻🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I have the Shark Genius in my Amazon cart right now, and I think I'm going to switch up to the Lift-Away Pro based on this video. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@VacuumWars It's the best damn mop I've ever used. I'm going to mop every week instead of every month now lol
Im sooo happy you made this video!
thank you!
I bought a steam mop because of you and this video... and I ain't even mad.
Deborah Wallace Can you reach the corners well?
You had the lift away pro, what are you suggesting for the cheaper one?
Just wanted you to know I appreciate your review so I just used your link to buy on Amazon
I have the purple Shark steam mop, great product, but he warned the metal on the pole get extremely hot when in use and even for a while after, and I once burned my hand after I had gotten done using it and was trying to wrap the cord up.
Thanks for uploading in 4k. high quality video and very informative
Which steam is recommended for tiled flooring with grout lining?
They need to double or triple the length of the mop for covering wider floor spaces quicker.
This was really very helpful and exactly what I needed. Thank you for your video review, I have made my selection!
Glad it was helpful!
When I use to work in housewares I would always sell the purple one it's was the number 1 seller hands down
Does it last long though? Amazon reviews claims it last at most about a year 🥲
@@AllAboutPurple I don't know I never bought it but customer really loved this product it sold out all the time
@@pavy415 thanks
The purple one has a new version with hands free release. I would love to see how it compares to the old vs new
What is the model?
As always, outstanding work!
Thank you! Cheers!
I have the 501...very happy with it !
Could you please do a comparison of the Shark lift away pro attachments vs bissell steam shot?
Thanks so much! I was thinking the purple one until saw the genius and was confused and came right to you to see what you thought
I use the regular mop first then steam it then go over it with my orange glo and my floors come ok out super clean every time
I have the Shark click and flip S6003 which is absolutely totally brilliant other than one major problem. I have to use de-ionised water or else my steam mop will die from calcium deposites on the element within 3 months mopping 3 times a week. They either need to use a muuuuch larger heat exchange so it takes much longer to foul or make the element accessible so it can be cleaned.
This is the review I was waiting for!
That teal looking one came with my Apex vacuum and it is still in it's box.
I’m wishing that Shark would bring back the original Steam Mop but I’m liking the S3501 model.
Thanks for the reviews.
Thank you!!!
I was so confused on which one to purchase.
But you can use the power mops like the Hizero on real wood floors whereas steam mops risk ruining them, right?
I super appreciate your videos. They are awesome.
I appreciate that!
Does moping give the same result as washing the floors? Meaning is it a total substitute for the mop and water bucket? thank you
Libro Cortar Jamón a cuchillo If your floors are smooth tile or laminate then yes they are great. If you have a tile with a slight tooth however the answer is no. Mine just doesn’t get down there and you only notice after a few months...and have to scrub the floors. That was a huge disappointment for me!
I have been looking at this as a Christmas gift for my son whose apartment is too tiny for big pieces of cleaning equipment
So thank 💐 you very much for the information shared here!
Happy cleaning, Merry 🎄 Christmas,lol! 👍🌈🇨🇦🎄
Thank you!
thanks for the video it was great and was waiting for you to review steam mops. can you please do one comparing the Bissell steam mops as well
Yes, I am planning on it. The Bissell will be the next group, though it might be a few weeks.
@@VacuumWars , Vacumm wars,
I have had the shark genius for a few years i dont use it often, im not sure why.
@@VacuumWars thank you can't wait to see the review :)
I have the 3501 and it works pretty good. I love it
That is great.
Thank you it’s help me to choose which one
Great video! Really helped me out in determining which one to buy
Great to hear!
My GO To Guy !! Bought my 1st vacuum cleaner here in the USA after watching him. Now i think ill go with the expensive one because i need ironing
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for your service. This is an awesome review.
Thanks for watching!
Hi, my home has engineered wood, trying to find if it's correct to use a stream mop on it?
I would love to see you review the water filtration vacuums like the Rainbow, Sirens and Quantum Vac !
Angel Huitzil Me too, especially as they are so different from anything we use day to day so would be educational as well as interesting.
I remember rainbow doing a great job but it helps if you somewhere on the property to pour out the water when done
How about BISSELL steam mop, any recommendations?
how hot is the steam? Do you know what is the temperature of the steam? Is it hot enough to burn your hand if you touch it?
Sorry I don't know. I didn't test the temp.
Thanks for sharing,
very informative, now I know what I want to buy.
Great review - helped me decide. Thank you!
How would there work on natural or textured tile floors. and how do they do getting down to the grout?
Cork Sauve No, I have one and the slightly uneven surface is never clean into the wavy, York stone like finish. But odd does clean the grout quite well.
Check with the floor manufacturer when in doubt.
Please do a video comparing different steam cleaners with attachments that can be used on furniture, kitchen and bathroom surfaces. Thank you!
I like the one with the attachments. I might try it out. Thanks
Shark mop is good until it stops working. Changed brands. The Ninja Coffee Bar by Shark is the best ever, even bought some as gifts.
I actually have the S1000 and I also ended up getting one that has its water tank, so far I like it better than my Bissell because I don't have to wait forever for it to heat up and the steam pump to actually start putting steam out.
