Awesome video of laying on your back pulling out a 727. I hope everybody enjoyed that. It brought back fond memories. I guess that wasn't all lifter noise you were hearing.
I like the fact that you arent a "corner cutter" and like to do things right while youve got it out and apart. Why not? Its only money and you can have it the way it should be the first time.
I have loved Mopar cars and trucks my whole life. I have owed quite a few over the years. When I was younger a friend of mine owned a couple 69 charger's which we drove just like you! He finally restored his favorite one roughly 10years ago He like you doesn't cut corners. We live in Ontario Canada so rust is a problem but everything was stripped down and spot welds were drilled out not to bend the remaining good structure. Once all the body work was done and straight as a arrow it was painted plum crazy purple with a new black vinyl top. It's amazing how much work you have put into all the cars, along with all the important information you have shared. It's nice to find someone to share their knowledge because around here no one wants to help you out. Thanks for being there to help out your average joe in keeping these beautiful vehicles alive so our younger generation can see what real cars were like instead of these tuners with a fart can on them.
Good thing you pulled the cam before it was real bad news with the bearings spun like that wouldn't have ran much longer that way without a lot of damage keep the video's coming
You crack me up. #1 I LOVE THIS CHANNEL. Secondly, I laughed out loud, when you were under your car .. & sh*t was already loose. You do amazing work. Some of the best I've seen. Hero sh*t. ... but seeing something so simple, as getting under the car, & checking bolts .. is beneath you. 🤣🤣🤣 Even bigger HERO to me now !!! Gotta' love that sh*t !!! Thank you for sharing all your adventures. I and many, many others, damn sure appreciate it !!!!
This video was an example of the snowball effect. I can almost hear what you were thinking. You may have been thinking something like, "I will fix these few small things and then I will work on another project". The same thing has happened to me doing home repairs.
Car repair math (aka beater philosophy explained): Losing 1 gear on a 3 speed is "only" 33% worse. But adding back that same gear makes your broken 2 speed 50% better! This helps explain why beaters have lots of small repairs needed and why fixing them seems to make them sooo much better! Cheer n thanks for such cool content (even when it's too hot to work!)
I like these long videos...smruf is alive and stronger than ever..wish you could find that 70 roadrunner 4 speed car..it's a American icon just like the Charger.. See you on the next one...Cheers friend 🍹🍹🍹🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Boy are you anard act to follow. I guess the old 440 from smurf will be getting a complete rebuild? Meanwhile, surprise video ending. Hope you've filmed the transplant, looking forward to watching that. Best regards.
Hey Chris, If you want a cheap aternative for Battery in trunk Cable. Find a Chevy cobolt or G5 in a U pull it they have a battery in trunk the cable will work and be cheaper than welding wire. I see a 1973 dodge Dart 20:10 smurf color
You crack me up with your "More better" philosophy and undetered attitude when things go south ! You mentioned recently about a new shop, is that in the works still ?
How does that happen to cam bearings. Never saw that before. Could be some Road Kill curse. You may need to perform some kind of underworld cleansing on your shop.
If you want a good affordable big block m water pump and housing, get one of the Summit house brand ones. They are only like 100 and something bucks and are as good or better quality than the other brands with big names (probably made in one of their factories anyhow) Plus being aluminium they take like 40 pounds off of the nose of the car compared to the old cast iron original lol
Damn man that thing is awesome!! I got to get myself a 1968 -1970 charger. I am 42 and tired of waiting. Do you have any rolling shells that you would be interested in selling by chance?
I would be real cautious of that block. Bearings don't spin without damaging the journal. The oil hole looked to be full of metal. Not a promising sign. I would definitely spec those journals. If they are out of spec then you know you need to go deeper unfortunately. Non the less great content. Keep it up!
My favourite Mopar channel . No halfassery , it gets done right . I like .
I like
The charger legend saving what needs to be saved not every one needs a trailer queen.
Sweet burnout from the Cocoon to start the video!!!
Got to see your old buddy Sammy I'm sure you still miss!!! 🐾🐾💖✌

That “cam” swap turned out to be the definition of a G.J.G.B. Gravy job gone bad. Keep the awesome content coming.
May not have went the way you wanted it to, but it was a kind of a blessing it did.
You know you're watching a pro when he makes oil and water flow UP !! 😂

Agreed my grandpa taught me at 13 if it’s worth doing the first time it ain’t worth doing a second so do it right the first time
dude, if I were 10% as talented ..... you do a nice job on these old mopars...
The old Birdmeister banging the videos out lately 👍👍👍
I bet this guy's neighbors just love him.
Your neighbors gotta love you 😂😂😂
I have to agree on the exhaust tone! Sounds soo bad-ass!

Great video and work
Hello from France 🇫🇷
Big fan of your builds! I always look forward to seeing new videos from you.
Can't wait to see the build on Smurf!
When can we see Patina tow another Charger with those 600 horses??
Hurry up and keep these coming. seen smurf on instagram running this set up ages ago lol.
Absolutely love your videos! Gives me motivation and ideas that I can use on my Super Bee, especially the chassis stiffening parts.

You always thwart bad luck with much aplomb. Great video and nice to see Smurf.

I like these long videos...smruf is alive and stronger than ever..wish you could find that 70 roadrunner 4 speed car..it's a American icon just like the Charger..
See you on the next one...Cheers friend 🍹🍹🍹🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ok that may have been more work than u thought but damn that looks soooo worth it
Dude! You kick ass man. Talk about a "modified to do list" keep rocking man!
Great video as always my friend
Love your videos. You deserve more subscribers....
watching your videos always makes me kick myself for not buying that 69 Charger SE #'s matching 383/auto for $2500 in 1999......
That shed was smart.
You are AWSOME brother / one of the hardest working man in UA-cam / keep crushing it/ Jacksonville Florida
Love your videos keep it up
You certainly found the valve train noise . No oil flow . Lol. Just an excuse to make it more better 👍👍👍👍
Your one lucky man. Just thinking of what could have happened. Walking down the hwy sucks
Ur one crazy bastard lmao I love ur style can't wait for part 2
Since you already had the engine out, I hope you beefed up the bottom half of the engine with heavy duty pistons, rings, rods, all bearings etc.
That bottom end has proven itself for many miles of abuse so far 🤣
Ground hog day! "I'm gonna replace the pcv valve." Turns into engine rebuild.
Have a good rest of your day and thank you for that video Chris
F in Awesome Birdsong 👍🇺🇸😎
Definitely need to move your operation to a shop with an electric lift. I can just imagine what you could do with a lot More space
Smurf got snowballed!
Perhaps due an update video on if Derrek got that bogger he was after at 6:15. ;)
Good that black paint in the engine area looked ugly, awsome show!!
Excellent job that kicks ass 👍👍👍👍👍
Im guessing you made that sweet scoop? Looks freakin awesome!
Do your neighbors ever give you grief for the curb appearance at your cul-de-sac? I bet a few of them hate having an old car shop next door! LOL
It's always "While I'm in here I might as well" and before you know it you have a new car.
Mad talent
Hey Chris, what's the status on Patina? Really enjoyed watching you rebuild Mayhem btw.
He had one of those short vids of patina running. Not that long ago.
@@keithharden7844 Yeah I saw that when I binge-watched the entire Patina build. That teaser is what makes me want more!
@@Mick_A_Knuckle he posts short video on instagram. smurf has been running with new set up for months now.
Entertainment at its best :)
Hey Chris nice job always been a wedge man is the new engine Stroker
Never seen or heard of spun cam bearings what is the cause
I drove my 62 Lancer for several years without 2nd (band was completely shot) but she always shifted seamlessly 1-3 lol
I’d be Leary using that block. Usually spinning a cam bearing is kiss of death.
Boy are you anard act to follow. I guess the old 440 from smurf will be getting a complete rebuild? Meanwhile, surprise video ending. Hope you've filmed the transplant, looking forward to watching that. Best regards.
Love the channel man.
Spun cam bearing/s? What the hell is that about? I.m glad you have a calm attitude toward big issues as we just saw. Drive on!
Nah man, a 3rd gear makes it 50% more betterzzz!!
In-Credible 🧐🇬🇧🥇👍
At least you caught it before it went nitro circus on you.
What ever happened to Lemonator?
Bad Ass Ride. 👍
hell yeah! excellent! lets do this! (:

76 dart sport
@@junkerup It has small bumper pad's which are 1973 only…..1974 -76 have big rubber Someone musta changed bumper
You crack me up with your "More better" philosophy and undetered attitude when things go south ! You mentioned recently about a new shop, is that in the works still ?
Awesome 👍🏻👍🏽
Put ice in front of your fan brother, works a treat
Funny how a cam swap turns into an intervention.
Some Mormon mom drove Patina to the grocery store back in the day. It would be great for her to get a ride in her old car now.
How does that happen to cam bearings. Never saw that before. Could be some Road Kill curse. You may need to perform some kind of underworld cleansing on your shop.
Digging for Gold on Camera, tell your friend we all saw it/lol
When is the wagon video coming out?
You just figured or why your lifters made noise I think lol
DAMN … NICE !!!
I hate it when changing the oil filter turns into full engine rebuild...

Yer neighbours really like you don't they 🤣👍
no shit! also lol dumps all oil and antifreeze on his pad then prays it down the gutter..hey it came from the earth might as well put it back .
@@9104311 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He must live close to the Air Force Base.

Make smurf great again.
Love it
Seems like one upgrade always leads to more ! What headers r u using ?
Smerf will be running better soon im sure
Mr. birdsong you need to do something about the hate comments towards roadkill
Chris, do you use Federal Mogal barings? I think they best to use in Smurf. "MADE IN THE U.S.A.!"
So now you know why the lifters were clattering
Sweet!
