    Your video talking about this a couple years ago changed my life. It really pisses me off that so many doctors never mention constant diarrhea as a side effect of a cholecystectomy and definitely never mention that *it can be treated*. Thank you so much for your mission to spread this important information most of us would never hear about otherwise!

    THANK YOU! My surgeon didn't warn me about this and has been a huge problem. I asked my Gastroenterologist about what to do and if I should take bile salts and he said "no" my body would "adjust" soon. I just got Post-Cholecystectomy Syndrome added to my chart and nothing done to help. Seven years later my body is not "adjusted". I'm only 33.

      Yeah take the digestive enzymes and sort of the problem with your liver which caused the problem with the bile bladder in the first place. Go see a traditional Chinese medical doctor trained in China with a proper medical degree medical licence. They're amazing for these things and any chronic issues. Do not just go to some peddler of herbs ... go to a medically licenced medical doctor who specialised I traditional medicine.

    I'm having my gallbladder removed, probably sometime after summer, and I'm a bit worried about this.. Already have major issues with heartburn and acid reflux, so I really hope I won't get worse issues there. But due to some of my meds and some other conditions, I also have some issues with IBS, and I really really don't want that to get worse either.. So it's good to know there could be options to help with that if needed.

    • @dreamfired

      @@dreamfired I have brought it up before, got blood tests done (sugar, lipids, kidney and liver function) and they were fine. So I figured it was the lack of gallbladder... • @MyCleverHandle

    And some of us have diarrhea all the time WITH a gallbladder. It's malfunctioning, to be sure, but it's full of stones and sludge, so I'm told. Removal isn't happening bc it's not technically infected, and I won't allow Rxs for antibiotics as prophylactics bc I've also had lots of UTIs and antibiotics were Rx'd for those, and nobody seems to know whether all those extra antibiotics are contributing to the diarrhea. GI Dr. says my stool tests show fat malabsorption, which could be caused by any one or more of six different things. He wants to Rx Lomotil, which contains an opioid, so it may work only for a few weeks before the dosage has to be increased. And I'd end up loopy, dehydrated and unable to function or drive. So I drink Immodium liquid. All the imaging studies - colonoscopy, EGD, CT enterogram and camera capsule endoscopy - show no structural anomalies, no polyps or other growths. So who do I trust? My GI Dr. doesn't care anymore, and my primary care is admittedly in over her head.

      @OGimouse1 Місяць тому

      @keagangilmore1706 I also want him to talk about the Sphincter of Oddi because apparently it's a not unusual complication after gallbladder removal for it to dysfunction, clamp down and refuse to let bile through the common bile duct, and it feels exactly the same as having a dysfunctional gallbladder--pain and all.
      And I had all of the symptoms for that so they put me on a calcium channel blocker that relaxes all the smooth muscle in your abdomen--including your heart so you have to have your BP monitored--but all that did was make me have to urinate every 30-45 minutes with no pain relief (in some people, it will let the Sphincter of Oddi relax to let the bile through) because my problem was my team was too busy fighting with me about how I felt to know I had a bile leak at the common bile duct for 2 weeks.
      But I more specifically want to hear him talk about it because I want to know the actual truth of why surgeons sometimes choose not to operate on it, and why some people get .45-caliber-sized drains put between their ribs instead of an ERCP to do a stent.
      I just want to hear it from someone else with a bird's eye view because I just feel like the residents are lying to both me and the attending
