Spoilers for the acolyte? I mean does anyone even care?
As an EU fan, I don't care, Leslye Headland claiming there's gonna be EU in her show is just bait, I want new stories set in that continuity, I don't care about the Disney Star Wars canon.
Nope
Yes, they do.
@@saberiandream316 I reckon all she means there is that she's basically gone and poached Darth Plagueis or Tenebrous from the EU stories, for the big villain lurking in the shadows at the very end of her series.
It's the new star wars serie so yes many people care about that including me. Because with that serie maybe i will start to care about this periode.
And for once the choregraphy fights looks good
I'm sure the evil twin won't actually be evil, just "misunderstood".
I agreed
You can't spoil something that's rotten already.
It’s Disney: shit finds a way
Nice!
Boom
The overall level of competence shown by Disney Wars so far makes it completely possible they spoiled their twist in this stupid way.
I honestly don't really care, just find it hilarious if true.
I remember when Simon Pegg went on Twitter to tell fans *not* to watch the trailer that had just come come out for Star Trek Beyond because it spoiled a big scene near the end of the movie.
@@CantankerousDave It almost seems as if Hollywood is devolving before our very eyes.
Who needs competence when you have the Star Wars IP amiright???
@@CantankerousDave I can't stand Simon Pegg, you don't hear much of him these days. He was there on the frontlines spurring lots of people on to hate on George Lucas and his Prequels.
Disney is run by clueless idiots so disconnected from the average working class person. They really believed this would be successful. Anything with woke messaging these days absolutly will fail miserably. People are sick of the illogical, hateful, nonsense.

Ahsoka had her own Fugitive waterfall jump in that arc also. Anakin chases her to the end of a pipe and has a speech about how he believes her, but she jumps down a huge Coruscant shaft

I've been watching WDW Pro for so long that I thought this "spoiler" was common knowledge
Exactly my thoughts, lol
Pro is the best Disney leaker in the game. Always ahead of the culture curve.
I generally try to avoid all spoilers to the point where mentioning SOMEONE dies in a series or, "Man, I didn't see that twist coming!" revealing there IS a twist, is something I consider a spoiler... and Thor is basically the only SW channel I still watch... so even though I really dgaf about SW spoilers at this point... I can safely say it hasn't become "common" knowledge outside the community. You know, unlike Spider-Man's secret identity or something, that even people who never watched a Spidey movie or read a comic might know through like cultural osmosis lol.
@@Paradox-es3bl that's how I am with anything Godzilla related. The only franchise that hasn't let me down in the past decade.
Oof, identical twin stories are almost always a red flag. I can't imagine a plot where "there's an identical, evil twin" being a good script. Of course there will be a thread of confusion among some characters as to who is who. Why else would they be identical twins and not fraternal twins or just siblings?
So one thing they could be trying to do is have it so the twist is that the one trained as a Jedi is the evil one setting up her sister who will be a good Sith (stop laughing I know it’s dumb but I’m just saying what they may do) this could be an interesting story IF it was told by competent story tellers but Disney has long since let that ship sail then fired torpedos at it to make sure it was gone.
I wouldn't be surprised if it just turn into "parent trap with Lightsabers" at this point...
Disney does own that movie btw...
I haven't played a lot of the Old Republic MMO, but I remember seeing a trailer about twins that were separated and one became a Jedi and the other a Sith. If that was a popular expansion, maybe that's why they are going with this story line. It's not like Disney-Lucasfilm is actually capable of coming up with their own good ideas.
I guess from a general standpoint, identical twins are more interesting because, at least from a fictional standpoint, it's like looking at what the "same person" would have become taking two different paths in life.
@@michaellane5381 "parent trap with lightsabers" i'm just trying to imagine that while seeing Lindsey lohan and Randy Quaid 😂😂
Ironically the "There's an identical twin" was used in a Rian Johnson movie, and it was praised despite being so stupid.
Parts of this sound just like the current storyline in Star Wars the Old Republic where there are these two Twi'lek children. one boy one girl, the girl was Force-sensitive the other appeared not to be so the female one is taken in by the Jedi. This was shown in a trailer for the most recent expansion for the game and in the game it is in the future where the Jedis Master is killed by Darth Malgus after Malgus puts doubt in her head. She goes and finds her brother later and he resents her and hates her because she was taken in by the Jedi and he wasn't and he starts going to the dark side by joining an evil Mandalorian Clan.
I came to comment this. It's that same plotline but without the cool Villain that is Malgus.
Shows you how creatively bankrupt they are.
lol i wouldn't be surprised if Leslie stole the idea from that. They just don't have any original ideas of there own at Lucasfilm. The only one who has honestly brought something ORIGINAL to the table at Lucasfilm since Disney has owned it was Jon Favreau with his Mandalorian series. A Badass "Lone wolf" Mando Bounty Hunter who ends up adopting a force sensitive Yoda species child, and goes on a quest, protecting the child and taking him to a Jedi Master. And all that got undone and ruined by Kathy Kennedy.
@@RaikenXion And Filoni. Don't forget, he's her right-hand man and she even admits this.
@@saberiandream316
Yes that's right, but at an end Filoni will be IF he doesn't do exactly what Kathy wants. She will one day require Dave to sacrifice his precious "Ahsoka" character; forcing him to kill her off for good. Will Dave be able to do that though? He has "attatchment" of his own to the character now. But Kennedy calls the shots and she wants it to all be about her Rey, ready for her movie.
Twins, eh? One of the best trailers in Star Wars gaming history is from Old Republic MMO and is called “Sacrifice”. Check it out if you haven’t seen.
Swtor cinematics are magic
I literally hated that game (Kotor 2 mega fan here) and that dope trailer had more promise and respect from me that this hot garbage I literally watched the Deceived trailer probably hundreds of times because that’s how awesome it was
Those trailers are all masterpieces.
I'd prefer if they took some of their SWTOR budgets and invested them in new EU-as-Legends stories. Ah, but the petty pride of Lucasfilm won't allow it, they feel mere "books" that they look down on would outshine their mega-budgeted vanity projects. Naturally.
@@saberiandream316 I don't think any of Disney lucasfilm budget goes into Star Wars the Old Republic It's EA budget that goes into the game. Besides even if it was this game doesn't get enough funding as it is it's why we only ever get like an hour's worth of new content every 6 to 8 months.

I have zero doubt that the mad max movie will be bad. Look at the editing even in the trailers and released footage. I don't have a good word to describe it. Childish and cutty? Idk.
Planet of the apes might be the highest grossing film right now, but what is its competition? Aside from financial, the quality is being panned. The writing and dialog namely.

The only remotely surprising thing about this show is that it isn’t somehow set in an era that Grogu would be able to pop up in
Jokes on you, get ready for the REAL baby Yoda!
Grogu's dad is in this show, didn't you see him in the trailer?
Well, as hardly anyone will be watching the series, they may as well 'spoil' it in trailers and adverts.
I'd laugh if some insider managed to actually leak the entire story of the show like a week before it actually dropped on D+ just like with TROS
What you describe sounds a lot like the trailer for SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith. Look it up, it's awesome, and also almost 2.5 years since release, which wouldn't surprise me since it seems like Hedland doesn't have an original idea in that big head.
And a line from that trailer - “This is how the Sith and Jedi maintain control, revealing the ways of the force to some and keeping it from others.” Sounds very much like the ambiguous nature this show seems to want to deliver.
The way Disney is moving around canon is the same way a sleazy lawyer moves around the law.

Lmao Thor saying being clever and automatically I’m thinking about the clip “where’d that get you?”
It's probably putting it mildly to say that Star Wars has not been doing a great job of late in either writing with depth and complexity _or_ remaining coherent and respectful towards existing canon. It is far easier, in that light, to believe that the intern assigned to subtitles made an error than that the "reveal" was either intentional or a clever subterfuge. It just feels like there _is_ no unifying vision for Star Wars, any more, nor an "adult in the room" to tell creatives that they're making a mistake.
Summed it up pretty accurately.
The writing has just been getting weaker and weaker with every show. They should have just kept Kennedy away from Favreau and allowed him to take his *Mandoverse* whereever he originally intended to take it; even if that meant Deviating entirely away from the Disney Canon.
@@RaikenXion Except even at the start, Favreau never treated the sequels as a parallel universe the way Dave Filoni disregards the EU - he talked about how there's a lot of time to explore between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens.
@@saberiandream316 Well yeah ofcourse he said that, he just eluded to them. He just set up his first 2 seasons perfectly. But Luke coming in and taking Grogu as his first ever student did contradict the idea of Ben Solo being his first student that's part of his New Generation Jedi Order.
If Chapek had done that one job of keeping Kennedy away from Favreau, and distracted working on her Blood & Bone Y/A adap, Favreau would have been able to make his BOBF spin-off awesome and more Godfather-esqe. And he would have gotten his Rangers show made; heck for all we know he may even have turned the Luke training Grogu direction into a whole series of it's own.
Filoni is just focused on "protecting" his precious characters again, like how he basically hid his Ahsoka in the WBW; so that he could one day return to exploring her further. which he's doing now.
This is all Dave is doing with the others, by setting up that whole thing of them actually leaving the main *Galaxy* and going into another. It's so that Filoni doesn't have to get into anything of where exactly is Sabine/Ahsoka/Ezra by the time of TFA.
i'm sick of Dave Filoni i just wish he would stick to doing only animated stuff.

A Padawan being framed for a crime they didn't commit. wow. Where have I seen that.
There's a Batman anime mini-series called Gotham Knight. 7 episodes, each one by a different studio. The first episode has some kids hanging out at a skate park. Batman shows up chasing some thug and each kid rushes home to tell their parents and each version showcases an entirely different Batman and exaggerated events. In one he's like a shadow demon, one he's an unrelenting robot, one he's an actual bat, etc. It's great and each point of view is entertaining. You talking here reminded me of it.
The only thing this show makes obvious is that Disney has boxed themselves into a corner where they can't move forward and lack the talent to move back. The smart move would be to just keep moving forward in the story, but they fumbled the sequels so badly that they have effectively destroyed the very foundation they need to build on. It would honestly be easier to just build a new IP at this point rather than try to salvage the sequel and post sequel era of the franchise. Simultaneously, they are so badly constrained by the original canon that they really can't do much going backward in time, and nobody will thank them for dealing in that time period to begin with.
It doesn't matter if anything was spoiled. I have zero plans to watch it.
1.- First episodes: some exposure from characters and focus on their perspectives.
2.- Middle episodes: some fights and some investigations with minor twists to keep you watching.
3.- Final episodes: more fights, more twists, more perspectives, destroy your expectations and theories with some big reveal.
And of course, a lot of easter eggs and connections to movies and series for "fans" to find!
They're taking stories from the canon and twisting them to fit their ideology! They lack originality!

I don't really have anything to add to this video past that the Fugitive also had Andreas Katsulas in it. He played Ambassador G'Kar in Babylon 5, an amazing show, unlike what the Acolyte is looking to be.
Now there's a Actor and some great writing that show had. He was excellent in both.
Hey Thor, there's something I've been wanting to ask you.
What is up with the Lightsabers on Disney Plus? They look so horrible in comparison to what they used to look like the movies. Either they're really unproportional, the blades are not the right size, or the colors look off. And when you see the characters swing them around and then you pause it, you'll notice there's hardly any white center of the blade. Just look at Ahsoka's white Lightsabers in the first episode of her supposed live action show. As she fights Marrok, It's so noticeable that her Lightsabers were unbelievably stiff when she waves them around. Even Anakin's blue Lightsaber looks so fake.
I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I love that “I don’t care!” line & scene from The Fugitive. Of course you learn later he does care. If Acolyte can rival Fugitive, I’ll be surprised.

If done well, then the Rashomon Effect could be an excellent way to tell a story. It was used in Quentin Tarantino's Reservior Dogs. An instance of the Rashomon Effect in a courtroom setting is the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "A Matter of Perspective" when Riker is accused of killing a scientist over his wife. Several different perspectives of the same occurrence are presented by the people involved. This could be a great way to tell a story, that is, if story agenda driven politics, ret-conning the timeline or some other obstacle doesn't get in the way. Hopefully it doesn't. Lately what they've said before launching a new star wars series is always some type of hype name or series like "from the director/creator of so and so" "we took a lot of elements from this xxxxxxxx novel/movie as inspiration" and when it comes out you can clearly see either they completely misunderstood what they were going for, they dont get star wars or the source material or straight up they lied. I would take anything positive they say with a grain of salt given the trend of most of the shows coming up lately with certain messages or biases from the directors/producers self inserting and making the show about them and not something for the fans to enjoy which results in low quality, not interesting, rushed and half assed attempts at story telling.

It’s not the bing twist
I liked Harrison Ford's the Fugitive.
What if not a twin, but split personality?
If I learned anything about Disney-STAR WARS, then its there is nothing to spoil. There is no plan. There is no direction. They are just doing stuff that goes nowhere.
Hey Thor!
Have you seen what George Lucas had in mind for the sequels? If you have I'd like to know what you thought of them and what do you think would have happened to Legends had those films been made? If I remember what has been revealed correctly, Lucas envisioned a galaxy without the Imperial Remnant or Yuuzhan Vong as significant influences on the setting, and with Luke implementing at least some of Prequel-era Jedi Order's rules. That doesn't sound too compatible with Legends canon.
George never wanted to make those movies, he said this right after he sold it. But he did create story treatments that disregarded the EU. I heard somewhere he felt pressured to do that because he needed a big movie to keep his company afloat, which is one of the reasons he sold it to Disney. As George himself said, there's little new stories to tell after Endor, because the EU already did it. For all the people who use George Lucas quotes to bully EU fans, they conveniently forget all the times George praised it.
I truly am glad for those that are excited for this. In a way, I envy them. But being as jaded as I am, I can’t imagine this being successful. What will it take for them to learn?
Honestly, this would be far from the first time a Trailer spoiled a twist.
This fact is that the Marketing Department desires(Hype Product as much as they can) is normally against what the Writing/Directing Group Desires(Telling a Good and Interesting Story.... Normally) because those Twists usually make for great Hype, so they want to market it, but that messes with the story being told. Unfortunately it normally falls to the Producer and the Distributing company to decide, and they'll side with the Marketing as they normally think more Hype will get them more sales.
8:05 And that's the big cop-out there if they do that. The more i'm hearing about this show the more i just think it's dumb. Leslie is simply taking bits and bobs from some real classics here. The late great *Kurosawa*, TLJ and Ford in the classic movie adap "The Fugitive"; and it really sounds like all she's doing is just throwing them all together into some big soup, while mixing in some of herself into it also.
Do you remember when we all heard how Rian said that he had borrowed elements from classic Films such as Gunga-Din, 3-Outlaw Samurai and 12o'clock High? It's like they just don't have anykind of original ideas of their own at all. That whole thing of Kylo and Luke's "different POV" is all just Rian distracting the viewer from the bigger issue that the REAL *Luke Skywalker* would NEVER walk into his nephew's hut in the middle of the night while carrying his lightsaber on him. Everyone seems to overlook that detail.
I'll just be glad when this Acolyte show has came out and everyone's over it, "Disney Starwars" is just watered down, there's no real Substance to any of it. Notice how no one is even talking about the Ahsoka series now, just moved onto the next "product" to consume.
I wish there was a way to quantify how much "fandom" there was for Star Wars the day before Lucas sold it and how much there is now. Disney (or more accurately KK) has surely devalued the IP by half or more.
I don’t think the Jedi would miss-sense two different people, even twins. You’re a Jedi and sense a murderous dark side in this innocent person? But it looks like her :-/
She must be a Palpatine to pull that off.
Hey Thor, know about Zayne Carrick and Knights of the Old Republic comics? Probably better they just made that comic into live action if they're going with being unkind to the Jedi and their power/influence.
