Seeing the G1s next to their modern counterparts is really cool. And despite Scourge not being as popular as Cyclonus, you have to admit that some of the other characters to bear the name Scourge are much cooler than those that have born the name Cyclonus.
You see this is why I love this channel, the shit puns, the way he judges the quality of the figure by what was on Top of the Pops at the time, the way Gavin refers to himself as an influencer, it's one laugh after another! Also Kingdom Cyclonus is too tall and Scourge was a trailblazer exploring his sexuality, the only bloke from 1986 who wore nail varnish other than Boy George!
@@manjackson2772 OK, then Scourge is too short! I want Galvatron Cyclonus and Scourge to look good together on my shelf and I've always felt Cyclonus and Scourge are supposed to be the same height. I'm OK with them being either as tall as or shorter than Galvatron. That said, I like how Earthrise Soundwave and Starscream are almost the same size as Megatron who is as tall as Optimus Prime who is as tall as Ultra Magnus without armour, but Galvatron and Cyclonus are as tall as Ultra Magnus in armour which to me is a nono, Galvatron should be as tall as Prime or Megatron and Cyclonus and Scourge should be as tall as Starscream and Scourge is so it's Cyclonus who is actually too tall. I never put any stock in the cartoon, they never got the scales right. Sorry for the wall of text, sorry I clearly overthink something that genuinely isn't important (I might need a therapist)! 😒
It's kinda weird how kingdom cyclonus and rodimus have very g1 toy style heads, I'd imagine its to fit the characterless expressions that everyone has been given over the last couple of years
Cyclonus was the first transformer my dad bought for me. And at that time, I was the happiest kid on the block. Now, I get every cyclonus as a tribute to him. Also, my sons' first bot was a cyclonus. Being nostalgic brings all the good times! 😊
I think the problem with Scourge is the Sweeps. Like, if you're a kid, how are you going to have a favourite Scourge moment? He could be any of the moustachioed blue wimps that Galvatron kicks around.
I guess Scourge gets overlooked because he has to compete with two other great characters for that name. Cyclonus had to share his name, but I don't anyone ever says "The helicopter guy? Oh yeah, HE'S the true Cyclonus"
G1 toys sure have their charm. With Cyclonus & his rabbit ears looking bigger than usual & Scourge with being one of the first notable shellformers. If your struggling with misplaced stickers, have you tried rubbing them against a hot mug peeling them off with a box cutter or knife. I’ve tried that out with misplaced LEGO stickers & they turn out pretty good.
G1 Scourge was my favourite (and probably largest) Transformer I owned as a kid. He is dismissed as a "shell-former", but that's a huge part of his charm. He is endlessly fun to transform, and his robot mode is uncompromised and (relatively) well articulated. Most Transformers *wished* they looked as good as him in robot mode.
you can clearly see that these were toy made for the cartoon desing, and that the robot articulation got a lot of leeway for that Cyclonus is possibly the only G1 aereal form that isn't "a plane/elicopter with a bot folded under it" that isn't one of the duocon, and scourge is suprisingly clean for being the first shellformer also, correct me if I'm wrong, I think they were the first toy made without a definite veicle made&model in mind, unlike all coming from diaclone and most successive addition untill the targetmasters at least
They were so odd compared to the 84-85 gang, what with cartoon design coming first, and the character designer being given a lot of latitude. Suddenly there's beards and head guns and, screw the 'bunny ears' description, I always thought they looked like the crazy hat a medieval jester of evil might wear.
Great review of two of the classiest figures of the G1 line. With Galvatron, it was obvious who ranked above whom. Simply a fantastic time to be a Transformers fan. Since I grew up with character changes watching Doctor Who, I was one of the few kids that didn't mind the death of Optimus Prime. So the figures in the movie were just a way tell more stories through the eyes of new characters. Never got these two though. But I still liked the toys. Again great review.
They're bricks and they're not going to win any interpretative dance competitions but they do look great, especially side by side. Great face sculpts and yes....Cyclonus will always have a sexy AF spaceship mode...well, apart from Combiner Wars but we'll just ignore that like the mad family member kept in the basement....Ssshhh!!!!
I feel really sad that I've never completed the trio of a particular series...gotta get the new Cyclonus and hope for a toy style Scourge. Or get the Sweep and lie to myself.
personally, I like the mix&match I went with. still on the edge if I should bit the bullet and grab both the TR and the old Generation for scourge tho (for some reason, the SS is unappealing to me)
I avoided these as a kid, because they looked terrible and simple compared to the previous releases. Eventually got the Targetmaster version of Cyclonus and he didn't change my mind. But with adult eyes they're rad as hell, they look like kids wearing boxes trying to look badass.
@@TRDQ just making sure. I can't say if his original mold as Combiner Silverbolt was any better in vehicle mode too. As usual, your short reviews are funny and delightful!
@@TRDQ the guy is better as either the bot (altho, if they could have gave it that much of a broader chest like in his FtF model, that would have been great) or the mad combiner torso, but the veicle mode suffered of the "a jet with the bot under it", which weirdly enough is not a problem for any other version, not even really the g1!
Oh sure, bragging about your ability to stand among Transformers fans. If I wasn't already winded from all this typing I'd really give you a piece of my mind.
It doesn't help the Sweeps commander that, over the generations, the name Scourge has been rebranded on several different and distinct transformers- not better, just memorably unique.
G1 Scourge is definitely someone's dad at a costume party who has no idea why he's there.
Seeing the G1s next to their modern counterparts is really cool. And despite Scourge not being as popular as Cyclonus, you have to admit that some of the other characters to bear the name Scourge are much cooler than those that have born the name Cyclonus.
I'd resent that remark. But, to be fair, "cooler" is certainly not the word I would use to describe Armada Cyclonus.
@@jedder More like clinically insane.

Kingdom Cyclonus is as tall as he should be. The real leader of the season 3 cons imo

Scourge looks like he's at the school dance and too shy to step away from the punch bowl
Very agreed on the satisfaction-factor of Scourge's alt mode. I also like the weird slidey-frictiony-click of his behind-the-neck rectangle piece.
Can't believe I just found this channel you are hilarious
Congratulations!

I wonder if these two will get re-released in the modern toy lines in funky colors like the new Pink Hot Rod?
That would be great!
Ah, yes, Bunnylord and Iron-dude.
Always loved them.

Cyclonus had to share his name, but I don't anyone ever says "The helicopter guy? Oh yeah, HE'S the true Cyclonus"
and let's face it, the guy is much more memorable as snowcat, unlike his pal
I had 80s Cyclonus as a kid and loved him ... Snarl vs Cyclonus and Shrapnel... Then I got Bismark...

They look so uncomforted, like they shat themselves but they can’t run to the restroom cause they’re in the middle of doin something in public
They were always my favorite as a child

I’d like to get the SS86 Sweep, so I can have the WFC-Toy lads. Though I should probably get the originals, I like how these lads look.

I liked both when I was a kiddie back in the day :)
I actually like CW Cyclonus, maybe it's a bit too much purple without colors in robot mode, but I like the vehicle mode a lot as it is

my friends dad has G1 Scourge in very bad condition but he’s very fun!
I thought scourge turns into a boat
love it my dood
HOON GOOLG
So cool.
Great video again mate.
If you have the scourge to cyclonus then you should reformat your point of view
What's wrong with never gonna give you up?
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
I still own Universe Classics Cyclonus, though one of these days I need to pick up the Kingdom mold
Pick up the GS version. Normal Kingdom Cy will yellow to shit in months. Plus GS comes with Nightstick
1:40 the Not You Cyclonus is... the Combiner Cyclonus?
Yeah. He was fine but that alt mode was uuugh
