u’re supposed to put a little soy sauce and pepper in the egg for kaya toast, makes it nicer! u can usually find them on the countertop where u collect ur toast (u walked by it :’))
Thanks I’ll try that next time!
you can try to have three different styles. haha
sweet soy sauce + pepper
light soy sauce + pepper
just pepper
when picking up the container for soy sauce, shake it a little. the light sauce shakes easily, the sweet soy sauce is thicker.
I'm more surprised that no one stopped him when he brought Ya Kun into Udders and had his food there😂
Some don't bother to answer or acknowledge your candor. They're too busy with work ha ha no effort. Get used to that. They don't have too much time for small talk. Just enjoy
Green + White cake = Malay Kueh (cake) called Puteri Salat. The top green are with panduan leave flavour and the bottom are glutinous rice.
thorughly enjoyed this series, singapore food (and everything really) looks amazing.
U were at balestier road where whampao hawker centre is not too far away(about 15mins walk from where u were where u had chicken rice). There's a Loy Kee chicken stall and a few more chicken rice stalls in the hawker centre.
Just put a tiny bit of soya sauce and white pepper, then dip the kaya toast 🍞 in the egg mixture. Some prefer not to put any condiments, just simply eat them as it is. Different taste buds. Love ❤️ your videos.
Thanks Safri! I'll have to try this again
Boon Tong Kee is better just down the road. Also did you not enjoy the coffee from Ya Kun Kaya Toast ? straight up kopi is made with sweet condensed milk if you dont like too sweet just order Kopi C kosong. Kueh Salat the bottom is made from glutenious rice with coconut milk and the top is pandan coconut type of custard
Thanks for the suggestion! I did enjoy the coffee, I normally drink black coffee hence it was probably a bit too sweet to finish.
@@davidkhai kopi o kosong black hainanese coffee no sugar
The fishy flavour you get in the Laksa broth is from the dried shrimp, a key ingredient. If you can handle the heat, you should add more Laksa Chilli paste, which gives a lot more fragrance, spiciness, heat, color, and flavours. Yours look a bit plain for most locals.
The other local way of eating soft-boiled egg is to put a little dark soy sauce and pepper, then drink it right off the plate.
I'll have to try the soy sauce and pepper next time, thank you!
You should check out Lau Pa Sat satay street at night. Lively atmosphere, satay and beers.
Thanks for the suggestion Marcus!
The green cake is made of green kaya top and glutinous rice bottom
Kuih salat, we called it seri muka up north in Malaysia. It’s glutinous rice with pandan coconut milk custard.
Just wow🙌. I am craving right now!. I wish I can get to taste those food in the future when I visit SG😊
Hope you get too, it’s so good
Wow, I got to watch 2 videos between sleeps... it's 12:34 AM here in LA and got lucky hahaha!
David awesome content love your videos food looks all delicious 🤤👍
Bokchoy is one of my favorite green leafy vegetable! As much as I love Filipino food, Singaporean food looks really delicious and appetizing as well! I’m amazed how you stay fit. 😊
Key is to not eat this eat everyday 😅
@@davidkhai Right! For vegetable it’s okay.😊
Wow!!! that is a very good breakfast you had, enjoy and have a nice day.
You obviously did not like the Kopi.
For Breakfast:
Good choice on YakunKaya. The bread has Pandan with Butter u missed to mention.
Up next find the YU TIAO with SoyBeancurd Milk and Curry Puff.
For main meals: Nasi Lemak ok. Hainanese Chicken ok. Then up next find HOKKIEN PRAWN MEE, CHAR KWAY TEOW, CLAYPOT RICE, YONG TAU FOO, MALATANG, BEEF RENDANG, AYAM PENYET, KATONG LAKSA, BBQ STINGRAY (@ boat quay), GRILLED SATAY (@ Lau Pa Sat night food market), SONG FA BAK KUT TEH, CENDOL DESSERT, ICED KACANG DESSERT, and of cos splurge on SINGAPORE CHILLI CRABS
Oh pandan as well? Damn that's nice
Thanks for the suggestions
Yummy
You always make us hungry
Hello David stay safe always.
Guys when order coffee in hawker or coffee shop in singapore, do googles ways of ordering in sg.
I usually ask for coffee less less sweet. Must include double less if u prefer slighlt bitter
you have to put soy sauce and pepper on the eggs..next time you can try that
Definitely will try that next time!
The green jelly on the chendol dessert is literally “chendol”😂
Awesome content i can’t stop watching the sg videos 😂
David Khai, the Hawker Guy! lol...or just Hawker Khai. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Perhaps if you create a patented, unique food reaction, you'll surpass Mark Wiens and Mike Chen in no time lol.
Haha that would be pretty cool
Greetings from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 i ♥ Singapor , all my planning a trip to Singapor (( Meeting the Lovely ))
I'm an explorer who loves to experience and capture the beauty of the Singapor ،
I like to test food ❤🤍💚
There are 3 Good Chicken Rice along that road.
1. Loy Kee
2. Boon Tong Kee
3. A stall in the hawker beside Boon Tong Kee.
Well try them next time thanks Raymond!
@@davidkhai You are welcome. There is a lot more food to try. Have tasty trip.
In my opinion, Boon Tong Kee is much better.
My favourite breakfast ever kaya butter toast with egg
I love softboiled eggs and kaya toast. I would eat that almost everyday when I was in Sg.
It's amazing isn't it!
All food here have sky rocketed....eat wisely as many sellers are taking you for a ride.....
That chicken laksa looked amazing, keep it coming.
Was delicious
The green pandan kueh u just ate is called sri muka .
1 suggestion: when uploading videos to youtube, choose “No, it’s not made for kids” that way viewers can “save it to a playlist/ watch later” (otherwise this option is not available to viewers). Just my 2 cents
That last egg tart bite was da MONEY BITE🤑💰🫰🤩🤩🔥🔥
If you want to have local feelings, food, lifestyle you might want to go to ponggol, tampines, basically you can found at MRT maps, prices are so much different compare to town area or tourist area, that’s what the local say, enjoy your stay.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Yes, @8:24 That is " Shanghai " bok choy 👍🏻
Why dip the crispy toast into the egg ? The toast would not be crispy any more. As mentioned by some subscribers, egg tastes much better with a dash of pepper & some dark sauce. Yup.. Boon Tong Kee chicken rice is my favourite. 😊
David, hope you can go to east coast food centre or bedok hawker centres or even bendemeer hawker centres, old airport hawker centre or tekka hawker is good too. Suit your itenary if you can. Cheers
Thanks for the suggestions!
Hi David, good tries !!! U should get a local sporean to bring u around
Definitely next time!
My favorite adobo first is Pork Adobo next is Chicken Adobo. Hope u enjoy philippine foods. Welcome!!
Bro, you need to add white salt and dark soy sauce to the runny eggs. Mixed it all up and sip the eggs and dip the Kaya toast to the eggs. Glad you enjoy Singapore and it's food.
Damn I'll have to try it next time, thanks!
@@davidkhai welcome and there are way more good hawker cuisine in sg. Try rojak, Bak Ku Tek, Lor Mee etc.
David enjoy your time and food in Singapore.. Hainese Chicken Rice authentic one - yum ..
The content is good
Cheers.. mate
Food at lau pa sat is not cheap and not authentic. Best to go chinatown comples food centre.
kueh salad is made with pandan leaf and coconut milk with rice
Aiyah..........you did not go to the BEST hawker stalls......and Boon Tong Kee chicken rice is better than Loy Kee (my personal view).......but what do I know!!! 😂😂😂
Good morning mate from L.A.CA. You have my mouth watering again. The duck looked good.I always try and get some when I go to China-town here in L.A. If you ever visit the U.S.A.you should check-out the China-town in San-Francisco.Massive in size.May-by four-times larger than the one in L.A.I as well en-joy those egg tarts. I make my own Halo-Halo here. Buy all the fixing at a filipino store.A-lot more things you can add your-self, My favorite desert next to Thai sticky rice with mango. Hurry-up and get hungry again so we can check-out more food We say in the states either food-to go or take-out. Take care and be safe my friend. Peace-out , Tom the Cali.Cat.
Green pandan flavor kaya with white glutinous rice.
Go to any hawker centers for chicken rice or for any food. It cost less than $5 and much nicer.
There’s another Loy Kee Chicken Rice stall nearby located inside the Whampoa Food Centre. Which I think both the rice and chicken is way better than the Loy Kee Restaurant.
best chendol in Singapore should be in chinatown market second floor and one in toa payoh
Hi David, you can consider visiting Malaysia. Their food is similar as Singapore but cheaper. We, Singaporeans like to go Malaysia for cheaper food and shopping. 😂😂
It’s on my list of travels this year :)
Wow thats my favorite dish in Singapore when i was still a staff nurse there.A wonderful toast.😍Enjoy your stay there
Absolutely delicious 🤤 Thanks Cherryl!
You should add the dark soya sauce and pepper (usually they have a set of these 2 condiments in a basket near the counter) to your soft-boiled eggs then you can drink the eggs on its own. You do not like Yakun's kopi (our Nanyang style coffee) cause I see you still have alot unfinished?
Thanks for the tip! I did enjoy the coffee but too much for me to finish it all
Wow I’m so hungry 😋
Enjoy watching your chicken rice meal.Thats ginger paste u ate not garlic.
Thanks for letting me know John!
and tiong bahru and chinatown market second floor has many options
Coffee black is call kopi O (or)
Kopi is just coffee with condensed milk
So ask for kopi siew siew dai(coffee less less sweet)
Thanks for this! I drink black coffee so this helps
the coffee is with condensed milk
Hahaha! I think this is the first video of you that started and ended doing nothing but eating food lol... by the way, regarding your comment on the Philippines Halo-Halo, obviously, you didn't get to try the Razon Halo-Halo. I think their Halo-Halo is superb because the shaved ice was really fine and I think they used milk from Water Buffalo, not sure. Anyway, it's almost 1:30 AM so I am hitting the sack... take care David...
Haha yes my first ever video will all eating! I’ll have try that halo-halo next time thanks
Lau Pa Sat is known for its architecture & history and the satay club at night. However, it's not the best hawker centre where the locals will go. There are better ones out there. One of them is near Mountbatten MRT
Have you tried going to the Malay Community area like Geylang Serai or Bussorah Street for Malay food? 😊
No not yet! Something for the future thanks
The green stuff is the chendol DAVID.
Oh the green stuff is called Chendol, now I know thanks John!
Guys. Peanut butter toast is not in the menu. Its a must to try peanut butter toast.
Just tell the staff peanut butter toast. U will nv regret.
Lai Lai come over Malaysia 😁 uncle
That is local kopi - black coffee with condensed milk, no sugar. Kopi O is black coffee + sugar. You can request for less sweet or more gao (more concentrated coffee) etc...and whole list of other combinations that I won't confuse people here LOL.
That is kaya and butter toast, not sugar and butter :D The kaya jam is made with coconut milk, sugar, pandan leaves and eggs basically.
Soy sauce and pepper should be added to the half boiled egg otherwise I think it will be too bland?
As for the best chicken rice in Singapore, this is difficult as there a tons of great chicken rice place around. Even in hawker centres around the neighbourhood. I think Boon Tong Kee is more popular (my preference too). They have quite a number of outlets in town. Actually the chicken are poached not steamed.
By the way, you should have gone to Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah down the same Balestier Road. Love their patries but their queue is very long unless you preorder online. Kueh Salat is made of coconut, pandan and glutinous rice. Should have buy these kuihs from the stores the nonya/peranakan stores that make them :)
You should get the sambal chili to go with the roast duck. I would prefer to have more laksa leaves and additional sambal for the laksa too.
Actually Lau pat sat is a very touristy food centre and the prices are much higher than most of the other popular hawker centres. Hope you visit other hawker centres that more locals would go. Like Chinatown, Old airport road, Tiong bahru, Serangoon, Maxwell, Tekka Place, Golden Mile..just to name a few. These hawker centres have better tasting and cheaper food.
Always good to have locals tell you how to eat things properly! Thanks for this, I'll now know how and what to get in future :)
Thanks for tips... I am planning to visit Singapore in few months ❤
You forgot to add the important soy sauce into the half boiled egg 😊
the correct way to eat the egg should put pepper and dark soya sauce, can take from the counter.
ua-cam.com/video/qsjP5tuwoSg/v-deo.html
i am just showing u to put pepper and dark soya sauce, however the dipping into egg, to me is not so authentic, it was popularise recent years by younger folks or youtuber, however many years ago people do not eat that way. maybe all i can say is when the egg finishes people use the toast to soak the last bit of egg so not to waste food thats all...
Thanks I'll try that next time!
Ask for Coffee - C next time. Taste less sweet n much better
Hi David I’m so surprise u didn’t wear mask at all n still haven’t gotten Covid luckyyyy u
I mean not that u care right
Haven’t really needed to wear them anywhere, sometimes on transport that’s about it
😍❤️❤️
The thought of eating almost raw egg makes me feel quite ill - hard boiled for me if they can't cook and egg without it being snotty!!
😁
It can be off putting for some, but I do believe they have hard boiled eggs too
@@davidkhai Thank you for the reply - where we were staying when we were there about a month ago, we just asked them to cook the eggs a little longer - problem solved. x
Hi David! I can recommend hawker center is Maxwell around Chinatown and the best Hainanese chicken rice is at Tian Tian, I hope it helps, and the Indians are friendlier than the Chinese there for our experience.🥰 enjoy 😊
Yumm! Thanks for the suggestion
I support this suggestion👆👆😁👌👌 Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. Simply the best in Singapore 💯🔥 There's no other🙌 Trust David 😁🤙 I've tried many Chicken Rice in SG. The queue may be long, but the flavour will blow your mind🧠💥🔫🤯👌👌
The best chicken rice is at Chinatown maxwell road Tian Tian Tian chicken rice
The 3 condiments for chicken rice are dark soya sauce, chilli sauce and ginger (8:50).
Thank you!
Mix the three sauce together, dip the chicken in and it will be a whole new world mate : )
Gula rice
Hi, it’s not sugar in your toast. It’s kaya. It’s made of coconut milk, slightly burnt sugar and eggs.
Ahh that's kaya! Didn't know that, thanks for the info :)
24 hours would be 10:30am to 10:30am bro . This was breakfast, lunch and dinner no?
7-8 meals and snacks is a pretty big effort don’t you reckon 😅
The vegetarian stall laksa taste better
Which country you come from?
Australia :)
Hi David, if you want a coffee without milk, you have to say Coffee O. Else Coffee means coffee with condense milk. Or if you like coffee with carnation milk, say Coffee C.
Thanks for the tip!
Not too bad. My favourite chicken rice that I think will be juicier than Loy Kee is at B1-35 Golden Mile food centre ua-cam.com/video/Vj6XwimK1CE/v-deo.html.My favourite laksa at 307 Changi Road (Katong Laksa George's) near Eunos MRT.
Thanks for the suggestion!
@Ben’s Good Eats. Ben don’t waste your time. The fella cannot distinguish between a ginger sauce and a garlic sauce. Yet can rate a chicken rice? Lol…
Are you from Vietnam?
Parents were but I was born in Australia
You do not like the coffee?
I normally drink black coffee so this wasn’t my favourite
Is all the food video showing being organic food?
Are the video encouraging people to eat organic food?
Based on the price of organic ingredient, the organic food is tasteless and not much sweetness and flavor.
Should use more approved industrial food chemical to enhance the taste and flavor of organic food.
Can eat more things into the body.
Come on, everyone knows Malaysia food is leaps and bounds better and cheaper!!!!!
LOL! Salty malaysian ………..🙄
Cheaper, yes, better, not necessarily true
@@UserCw76120 Perhaps not 100% on everything, but I believe this is a generally held belief. My own Singaporian inlaws def have said this...
