  • Chant Engineering makes break test machines. We make them so you can break them. This video is demonstrating a break test being performed on a 35t shackle being broken at 560,000 lbs on a Chant horizontal test bed.
Breaking things for the lifting, rigging and load securement industries since 1970.
For nearly 50 years Chant Engineering has been designing and manufacturing test beds for the wire rope and rigging industry.
Our test beds can test wire rope, synthetic rope, shackles, chains, hoists, slings and more.

"we make them so you can NOT break them" should be your motto.

That shackle would be able to lift the Statue of Liberty without fail.

35 T only breaks over 250 T... that's a pretty reassuring safety margin. Should I ever need one of these, I'd come to you guys 🙂

Most lifting equipment like shackles and slings e.g have around a 1 to 7 rating for safety! E.g a 1 T sling breaks around 7 T

Shackles have a 5:1 design factor. There is NO shackle with 7:1. Not to mention you are only authorized to use it up to the WLL.

@@Nollekeuh I know nothing about this subject but normally, from what I've gathered, you don't go lifting something that's 35t with a 35t shackle, you use one that's rated far above it, you never want to be at or near the max load of any piece of equipment that's load bearing.

@@Nollekeuh You are using them for Years normaly, so they build in massive Reserve. Otherwise you have to check and change them after a short period of time and after every incident like a hit on a wall or something.

@@KimJongFunny that is not correct. You must inspect them before each shift and if used correctly, the only thing that would make you pull it from service, is ware or loss of material greater than 10% the original dimensions.
