When Jack Kilian heard there was a worker shortage at Minnesota’s turkey farms, he decided to put his robotics background to work. The result is Poultry Patrol, an IoT-connected robot that improves the health of birds and serves as a set of eyes and ears for busy farmers. The town of Red Wing provided the support to get the idea out of the lab and into the barn.

How A Four-Wheeled Robot Is Improving Poultry Farming In Minnesota - Наука та технологія
It's all fun and games until there are humans instead of chickens in a closed barn controlled by robot.
you sound like my mom
Ok, what if I was to tell you that's what happens to you? Weather it's a tv or phone etc. I'm not defending factory farming but this technology paves the way to improved living conditions and quality.
*opens door and leaves barn*
Ik this is joke, but robot can't programing it self
yeah because thats us. Also we eat chicken, we dont eat us.
Tone of corporate people usually make me to untrust them.
This was a good documentary on a cool subject, and then it turned in to a weird advert...
0:26 Is it normal for turkeys to do that?
This is called naruturkey run
Hell ya. I grew up with turkeys. They won't let you get close to them most the time.
Wouldn't it be a LOT easier to just hang some cameras?? This is literally just a camera on wheels.
It's an A.I. robot. It's already distributing the litter, using infrared scanning on poultry to check for their health, posting a comprehensive report in the form of an email to the barn owner and learning more via neural network integration to further increase its capabilities. What more do you want?🙄.
@@grandgamingexhilarating all doable from a stationary camera. And no, this does not have ai, object recognition is something that even a $50 phone can do. It won't even be able to travel in a straight line inside that bar without a proper gps signal. This is an rc car with a camera on top.
@@grandgamingexhilarating lol give him a break, he obviously isnt a tech-savvy person, his knowledge abt techs are obviously lacking....
Edit: i mean he did compared the robot to a 50$ smartphone after all like they're the same thing
More of a fancy RC car but yeah same thing lol
@@eugenes9751 I have cameras in my houses, they are almost useless. I am waiting for a robot that can roam the house, DISTURB the LITTER (as time goes by a layer of cake is formed, if it can be disturbed daily this will ensure much healthier birds), the robot can see water leaks from nipples that my current house cameras cannot since they cannot see through the birds standing around. I could change my cameras out for more advanced cameras that tell me the temperature of the birds but that won't disturb the litter and see the house from the birds eye view, as well as possibly take air samples on a regular basis...what did you call it, an RC Car? Ok, give me 6 to start with at minimum over my in-house cameras.
Cool technology, but can't help but feel sad for the little birds. Cramped in a room without ever feeling the sun or the grass or the breeze. Even sadder still that these are fairly good conditions compared to some other farms. 🐤💛
@juamnji yes I do not eat chicken :-)
@prince frog yes delicious kid
No animals are harmed in making this video
Lets make this factory farming the best we can...gotta love America.
This is heartwarming and I hope more rural communities come together and build solutions for themselves and their problems that Silicone Valley wouldnt even see
1:58 Do those turkeys spend all their days inside that barn?
Guersom Falcon Yes they most likely do
very very sadly, yes. please do not contribute to such torture :(
Bobby Shukvir Can you give me your sources?
Guersom Falcon Google it
Go watch dominion. ⚠ warning, it's pretty graphic
Look at all those chickens
All that food
*His beard is bigger than my life*
Imagine having a beard like that and being called chicken boy
Osama loves chicken boys
0:18 I thought I see a long bearded jacksepticeye ngl
No crap LMAO 😂😂
Inspiring !
That is smart!!!
Make it a 4H project for a kid to run the robot from across the country. The robot needs a skirt to keep the turkeys out of the wheel wells and a really good tiller to turn the soil deeper. And put some skylights in that barn so the turkeys can get some vitamin D. The robot also needs a built in bb gun to kill rats it spots and a paint squirt gun to mark sick turkeys the infrared picks up on. If the robot was also a feeder the birds would have to follow it and get their exercise.
It's like big brother
SHAZAM are you talking about wd2?
I feel like this is a glimpse into our future.
Wow
Were can buy
So many chickens at 1 place. Is this a good idea ?
Healthy Things - Breaking News it's called industrial farming and is how all chickens and turkeys have it unless it's organic produce, you should see pig farms, that's 10x worse
Turkeysss
My poultry farm could use this technology. How do I become a participant?
What is with xbox 360 controller used in the latest tech, why not the new ones?
@@Kendal1999 hardware?
Probably easier to set up with whatever tech they made but idk
I'm very much interested to join your group!!
5/10 needs stronger Midwestern accents
Well... i believe all that system can work just fine without internet access
Its sad: so many chickens in one place
This is actually the humane barn. Look at those cramp coops makes you suicidal.
So u care more abt chickens having a humane farm, than humans being in a crowded place with nothing/barely anything to eat and dies while everyone just walk pass them caring not a single second of the life they have.
Don't get me wrong but, I just don't see your logic. Like, it occured so much that it doesnt even matter so you find chickens being in a crowded place yet still being fed and kept healthy a more important medium? Like what??😑
@@Pfyzer Humans dont matter, humans are killing themselves do you think humans do more in life than chickens, animals need to survive sometimes alone, while humans are lying in bed. (And strays get help from other humans, and some like being a stray)
@@Pfyzer obviously I rather eat healthy chickens than sick chickens. This is common sense.
@JUS24TIN no. animal. killing.
Terminator chicken??
Red Wing is crazy beautiful but the highways are crap
i thought them where chickens
You better study English, before commenting on these videos, child
@JUS24TIN 5 yearS* old OR he's A 5 year old. You're definitely not better than him

It should at least pick up some poop
Yang gang
Brock lesnar is from Minnesota and he loves farming
sorry he's from south dakota
I really only think this would be a good thing on a giant free range farm. Not inside farm. Use security cameras!
Replace chickens with human!
with human

Tap the black spot somthing magical will happen
🤢🤮
and here I am playing Pubg on my phone
Disgusting
As long as Chinese don't do IP theft. Dell will make a lot of money
2020 and no autonomous feature. Boooo. This is an RC car with wifi cameras strapped to it. NOT impressed!
This is the worst 😞
How about you give those poor chickens more room and some sunlight instead of investing in some very expensive robot😑
Or... you can just become a vegetarian.
Just eat vegetables.
no
NOOOooo
Are u vegan?
You can't have this kind of videos without some moralists going mental right? What about some thanks for the farmers who provide us with clean and affordable foods?
I know it's annoying, animals are on this planet for us to eat, companions, workers, etc and we're top of the food chain. So it's not different then a lion eating a zebra or something.
Dude shut your mouth they live in small compact barn were they are tortured then they are eaten
@pencil you are fully aware that humans have been eating meat for over 2.6 million years, we’re omnivores. Also meat is full of nutrients and vitamins required for human life, if you don’t like eating meat it’s up to you, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to feel the same way
Please don’t eat this kind of chicken is poison,
This is so sad 😞 use your intelligence to solve the world’s issues not worsen them (animal agriculture has a big role on climate change)
