    Cool tutorial. While there is some controversy, much of the scholarship I’ve seen has the French uniform as a more greenish rather than brownish khaki.

      Do I hear the counting of rivets? ;)

      You're absolutely right. Greenish was the standard accoutrement colour. Brownish was reserved to the foreign legion and colonial troops as well since WWI and survived or was officer's pride. It may also surprise you, but I perfectly recall my great-grand mother not conceding that all horizon blue accoutrements disappeared by the time of emergency conscription in 1940.

    Excellent tutorial and great handling of bases, washes and highlights, very helpful. However, I would reconsider the choice of colour for the helmet.

    Any chance you can be convinced to paint up some Italian infantry? Desert or eastern front?

    Nice tuto and nice figure, too. I would think the French uniform and helmet were more blue than green, though... Keep up the good work !

      Philippe Poirier I think you might be confused with their WW1 uniform. This is from early WW2 :)

      Very true. I had their WWI uniform in mind. So... just keep up the good work :-)

    I like it; I do think however the helmet should probably be a little less bright?

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  7 років тому

      I believe it's the light, the helmet is directly underneath it. It's a lot darker in person.

    Have you painted 1/72 scale French Army? Would you use the same process for the smaller scale?
    Great Video, thank you.

    I think it'd be awesome to see a tutorial on SS soldiers in Oakleaf or Pea-Dot camo, though I imagine it'll be extremely difficult.

    Hi dude! Amazing tutorial. I followed all the steps in your tutorial...but my colours are a lot darker. Looks nothing like the one on your video 🙁

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  6 років тому

      It's possible that you're washes were applied a little heavy. That's the only reason I could imagine for their being such a color difference.

      If you want late war you can probably follow my Grenadier tutorial, most of the colours are transferable: ua-cam.com/video/1ZFGF0B6jTQ/v-deo.html

    Am I correct in thinking that the Hungarian colour scheme is basically the same as this?

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  6 років тому

      I believe the Hungarian uniforms were slightly more green than this.

    Funny how most paint guides for French infantry WW2 uses chocolate brown for the boots.......

  • @frozeniguana9448

    Couple bits; the canteen was made of leather. Second, the putees were olive green. Third, boots were brown leather...sorry.

      is it possible there were some color variations (or maybe not enough for color variations) - I'm French but I gotta say I don't know our uniforms very well. However, when painting US and Germans, I found references confusing for that reason, mostly.
