Also, what does this say about the nature of space, especially at the smaller scales -- Planck scale (1.6 x 10-35 metres) or even smaller? Is space discrete, and matter is forced to vibrate between these points? I'm not sure about the status of string theory these days, but I like the concept of vibrating strings.
