underneath the mk2 is superior cuz the brochure states the later models have significantly less body roll. This might be because the rear leaf acts as a really thick rear sway bar. Also the timing belt interval was significantly improved with the torque range being more readily available for daily driving despite the earlier cams actually produce higher hp.
And before anyone bashing me about how they are fwd so they cant be "true" Volvos, i know but as a 850 T5 owner they are really good and solid cars, also pretty fast too
Welcome to the 960 club. I exchanged my V70 for an all white 960 estate, 3 litre and as you say last of the proper volvo... Thumbs up to rear wheel drive! See you door cards have melted like they all do
Probably none. The rear has a transversely mounted leaf spring, much like a Corvette, which means no coilovers in the back. Unless he has a different rear end. At least for anything after the 95 facelift line this car.
960s are great. too bad they are so hard to find compared to a 7/940. But atleast in sweden they're still reasonably priced compared to the crazy prices for 760s (that are arguably a worse performing car, PRV6 is crap, and worse on fuel, no manuals except on the turbo models which are even rarer and cost like 10k+ euro in good shape. A 960 you can get for 2-4k euro. But the 760 is a bit better looking IMO. (Roughly converted SEK to Euro) Anyways, nice car Scotty!
From experience id say the redblock is more reliable stock, but only stock, when you start to modify the redblock will give in much easier than the whiteblock, given that you put shims between the cylinders in the white block.
Scotty, you could get some bmw with m57 in it, diesel that can go 220+ km/h easy with low fuel consumption, but considering its winter, maybe petrol is better at this point
great VOLVO 960 i got the last 1997 volvo 850 T5 TURBO very fast and tru TOP SPEED 260 KILOMETERS and wil go very fun to drive and great PERFORMANCE VOLVO 850 T5 TURBO this volvos wil go for hi kilometers wit the right maintanece hallo from VOLVO CARS SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA UNITED STATES OF AMERICA .😀
I have to agree that the 960 is the last true Volvo. 850s are ok but have to say there is a categorical difference between the 740/940/960 and the 850s. Don‘t get me started on what the “R” freaks have done to the old Volvo pastime.
I don't know much about the Volvo brand but it seems that's true, I have a 1998 AWD and it's the drivetrain that gets me, should have stayed RWD... Having said that, my car is a 2.4L turbo petrol/gas engine, but with the 5 speed all wheel drive. According to Volvo Canada they only sold 7 here. I'm wondering if this particular car is rare in Europe and other parts of the world as well?
saying the 960/v/s90 is the last proper volvo is bullshit, it already has a whiteblock engine and is really similar to the P80 cars with the diffrence that its rwd which they ditched for saftey reasons. the last cars that are proper volvos are the P2 chassis since they were strictly Volvo made. Btw. your steering wheel is on the wrong side
looks like a nice smooth rig. i'd happily take one of the early 960s, had the oldskool boxy shell but still had the 6 pot whiteblock

The 960s are fucking amazing comfortwise.
That is a beautiful motor, those wheels (and its stance) look perfect.
Loving the vids mate, nice to see people who are from around me doing content I actually like! :)
Love your content, Scott!
Personally to me last "true" Volvos were P80 chassis cars...
And before anyone bashing me about how they are fwd so they cant be "true" Volvos, i know but as a 850 T5 owner they are really good and solid cars, also pretty fast too
@@mohis5664 same, even tho it is fwd, the looks and interior is similar to 940/60 , even tho the chassis and engine is quite different
In Germany we say: „TÜV sagt nein“ to the Rims😂

I'd have to say the P2 chassis cars were the last true Volvos.
Rebadged Ford
What does p2 mean
@scottyfairno dude , p2s are strictly Volvo made. Later p2s with face-lift starts to mix the parts up.
@@scottyfairno MK2 S40, V50, MK2 C70 were the start of the rebadged Ford era.
my dad had a 57 plate (late 2007) s80 d5 that had tons of injector and engine problems but i loved that car, miss it so much
Looks clean, don’t blame ya for treating ya self :)

Sure I used to see this in Cardiff lovely motor
That’s one smart looking Volvo 👍
Gorgeous motor !! Love the rims i still loving my 440 !! cant beat a Volvo
the most beautiful volvo made imo
Really nice 960, have one myself but an estate version. I wonder what kind of coilovers are installed cuz it looks proper this low👌
Probably none. The rear has a transversely mounted leaf spring, much like a Corvette, which means no coilovers in the back. Unless he has a different rear end.

I was looking at this on market place looks ace

Anyways, nice car Scotty!
I miss my early V70 2.5t now.
Have you looked into how the rear has been lowered? The Multilink makes it a bit hard for all I know😅
Volvos make some of the coolest cars full stop imo.
money for nothing acoustic at the start goes hard

2:29 that hole in the ceiling light is to cool the lamps, there's a tube to a small pump somewhere
If that volvo isn't expensive af already it definitely will be given time.
nice car scotty, does anyone know what bmw style those wheels are?
Love this. I had a 1997 960 Estate, 3.0 automatic. Best car I've ever had, wish I never sold it
Do you think it would be enjoyable to daily drive that car today? Not being an asshole, genuinely asking
@@mtndew4746me too, also wanna know this

Starting to think you plan to own all the volvo's someday 😂
Those wheels are M-Parallel’s you’ve scored there Scotty!
My girlfriend just bought a 1992 940 it is in mint condition newest car I’ve ever seen, on some really nice custom deep dish wheels aswell

Scotty I've got an 2006 D5 V70 Auto for sale if you want it. It needs a cylinder head. I don't have the time to do it.
I wouldnt say the interior is completely different to a 940. they look pretty similiar, aside from the faux wood.

Your have to change D24 engine
Rather to drive a old straight 6 164 !
Im sure a D24 could be boosted and fueled to similar power levels so why buy a petrol.

do a diesel swap when you get home

P2? Lmao, you've got to be joking
It’s not at all similar to P80’s. Some interior bits yes but the chassis and suspension is like the 700 and 900 series
