It was an integral part of the story. It made us realise that Momo is still just a 5 year old and is leading the raid to Onigashima. Showing this puts more emotional impact on the scene when Luffy tells Momonosuke to move the island.

Most fights in demon slayer don't last nearly as long as many other anime fights. Especially ones involving Zenitsu. The only good one was when Tenzen and Gyutaro went ape shit on each other and took out most of the village they were in.
