Thanks for the kind words. Feel free to ask, I am happy to help. I use the 400grain bolts from the Centerpoint website (bolt is 300gn + 100gn broadhead, total = 400gn). They fly at 407fps, the broadheads are "Slick Trick" 100grain, 1inch, 4 blade. I've been using SlickTricks for over 10 years, they can be resharpened and I sight in the crossbow with them. I mark the bolts on the fletching, as each bolt flies slightly different, so I purchase six in addition to the three that come with it & try to find three bolts that shoot similar. I use the same bolt with broadhead to sight in, & that's my #1 bolt in the quiver for hunting. I use regular 100% Vaseline for rail lube, extremely sparing, use very little & infrequently. The loctite is blue. Any string & cable wax brand & also, very sparingly. If I can answer anything else please ask. Also if you purchase on the Amazon link, it doesn't cost you anymore & I make about a dollar, lol.
@@underdogoutdoors wondering is you could do a video using heavier weighted bolts to see the fps comparison as well to see if it helps reduces the noise of the crossbow. ive seen a russian video where they shot this crossbow and showed it in slowmotion. Now i have no idea if this has anything to say, but one could see a pretty significant movement of the limbs and cams after the arrow was released. The cams twisted back and it created some weird angles that didnt look like it was easy on the material. Maybe this is normal, maybe they used very light arrows. I have no clue. Im also thinking about buying this bow, unfortunately i havent found many others showing the shots in slowmotion so i cant compare.
It's a decent xbow for the money. I've had many crossbows & use them in all conditions, after dealing with the few issues I went over in the video, this xbow is a good value. It shoots accurately & has held up over time, for me anyhow. Fortunately, the market is competitive & there's lots out there that may be good as well, all part of the fun! Good luck in your research & thank you for the feedback.
Your shooting the Centerpoint select bolts? Do you see the need for custom bolts? Everything I have seen they seem to shoot pretty good. I have a 430x coming in this week and I'm just trying to get everything I need to start shooting. I am 6'2 and need the adjustable stock and I am putting on the oracle x so I need the adjustable cheek piece too but all the reviews on the 430x seem to leave out those two details, not one shows the cheek piece adjustability, but I appreciate your review of the 430 and any info you could help me out with!
I actually purchased 2 of the 430X (one for myself & one for a friend) & set them both up- since I made this video. No need for custom bolts, I did go with Killer Instinct Hyperlite 370gn bolts (that's 270 for the bolt plus a 100gn broadhead = 370gn) & I used 125gn Swhackers for no other reason than I wanted to try them, didn't need to do this- makes them a little more front of center & total weight 5gn lighter at 395gn vs 400gn. You can use the Centerpoint bolts & scope it comes with, they are fine. The cheek piece on the 430X is adjustable, there are 2 screws on each side, and the adjustable piece has about 1/2 inch of play up or down. It's a great crossbow, in my opinion. With that Oracle X, it should be very nice. Good luck with it!
@@underdogoutdoors so many people online say to shoot heavy bolts and be around 450-500 grains but I didn't buy this thing to slow it down, I thought about maybe doing a set up like yours but I wasn't really sure, maybe now I will, do you shoot the 370 grain set up practicing ? That set up must be crazy fast. I have had my Barnett ghost 410 for the last 8 yrs and this 430 will be quite an upgrade, nothing wrong with the ghost, just wanted something a little smaller, Thanks again for talking with me,!
With the Killer Instinct Hyper lite bolts, and a 125gn broadhead, it's 395 gn, only 5 grains lighter than the original Centerpoint bolts with 100gn broadhead. Xbows in general are loud, so I like the speed vs heavy bolt- it's personal preference. No need to do what I did, you can easily use the bolts it comes with.@@brianscott1894
Centerpoint is a big company, they own Raven, they have parts. Strings and cables are available from aftermarket companies like 60X. Thanks for watching!
Mankung makes the wrath for centerpoint too, worst case contact them. They also make the rest of the centerpoint line up, they have cams, limbs, string etc etc on their website. I really like Mankung/centerpoint bows. One thing, when you get any new crossbow or really anything; take it apart, completely and lock tight everything , taking your sweet time to put everything back together with utmost precision to maintain accuracy. Blue or purple lock tight works best. Don’t use red or god forbid yellow lol, you will never get it off.
Yes, with the condition you tighten up the bolts, using lok-tight thread locker. It's been holding up great, shoots great. In my opinion, one of the best values- you can even use the scope it comes with.
I just read your reply to another subscriber...so no need to respond to my question! I wanted to know if the bow needed to shoot p!us 400 grain bolts to protect the li.bs. It seems it does well the recommended weights!
Hard to believe you could break a carbon bolt putting it in the quiver, learning the hard way is expensive. Wow 400 FPS is wicked fast. Nice looking shop Andy.
@@underdogoutdoors Just got mine in yesterday. What I found about quiver loading is as follows. Set in place and push to left or right to widen the opening and roll bolt into position. simple, easy, and not much pressure required. Hope this helps someone. Thank you for the great vids!
It's much heavier than a compound bow to carry, but it's also faster & more accurate, xbow will have more penetration as well. With a good sling or backpack you can strap the crossbow, it's definitely an option- if the law allows.
If you follow all the safety precautions, same as any other on the market, and tighten down the bolts mentioned, I think a beginner would be fine with it. It's a high performance bow at a reasonable low price.
The quiver is tight so that as the crossbow gets broken in and used a lot they don't become loose or rattle. If they fit perfect from the start after a few months or hundred shots the bolts would fall out with a little rough handling or shock. I recently found out Centerpoint and Ravin are one in the same now after a merger. You are getting Ravin engineering and technology for 1/2 or 1/3 the price when you buy a Centerpoint. Also Centerpoint has exploded diagrams of every model on their website and they sell you every single replacement part you want to buy. This is a major selling point to me as being able to maintain and repair my crossbows myself without sending the whole thing back. Not only is shipping expensive for a entire crossbow, but you run the risk of being badly damaged and or being stolen as well. I would rather repair it myself and be able to buy replacement parts. Something many of the other larger more established names in crossbows should take note of and pay attention to. "I just need to buy and replace this one part....I don't need to send the entire thing back and be out of that crossbow for weeks or months waiting on you.">
I NEVER USE THE QUIVERS THAT COME WITH THEM ANY WAY . I USE A HIP QUIVER . AND NEVER USE THE STOCK SCOPES EITHER .. AND I USE BOW-JAX LIMB SILENCERS , STRING SILENCERS , ETC .
The 400-500 year old bows used a double handle crank system. Wonder why no bow is using that double-so-powerful-cranking-system today. It would mean double the speed to load the same bow.
Right im sure it works fine, but just how everything in the crossbow market is "full beginner kit" mindset. Compared to rifle market for example where large majority assume you want to pickout your own accesorys and dont force you to buy them with the main product.
How they can sell it as 430, as it would make 430 fps when it is just 407 fps? this is SCAMMING the customers! Thank you very much for the useful review. Now some time is passed since you have tested it. Do you have now figured out any long term issues?
Two years & no issues, killed a good buck with it this season. It can shoot "up to 430fps" with a lighter bolt/arrow. If you go too light, it beats up the strings/cables/limbs, but you can get the speed.

Stay away from this crossbow anymore. The strings and limbs have been snapping on people after a few shots. It happened to mine in less than 2 dozen shots. There are numerous reviews on amazon and other sites with similar issues. The rope cocker sled is plastic and breaks easy as well as the quiver problem he talks about.
@@underdogoutdoors and it shoots ok with the 3 inch vains?
@@underdogoutdoors so many people online say to shoot heavy bolts and be around 450-500 grains but I didn't buy this thing to slow it down, I thought about maybe doing a set up like yours but I wasn't really sure, maybe now I will, do you shoot the 370 grain set up practicing ? That set up must be crazy fast. I have had my Barnett ghost 410 for the last 8 yrs and this 430 will be quite an upgrade, nothing wrong with the ghost, just wanted something a little smaller, Thanks again for talking with me,!
yes@@brianscott1894
With the Killer Instinct Hyper lite bolts, and a 125gn broadhead, it's 395 gn, only 5 grains lighter than the original Centerpoint bolts with 100gn broadhead. Xbows in general are loud, so I like the speed vs heavy bolt- it's personal preference. No need to do what I did, you can easily use the bolts it comes with.@@brianscott1894
Are the cams Aluminum? They almost look composite in all the pictures I can find.
Sorry for the late reply, just seeing this now. The cams are aluminum & holding up well.
In case there are no replacement parts available, how do you repair it?
Centerpoint is a big company, they own Raven, they have parts. Strings and cables are available from aftermarket companies like 60X. Thanks for watching!
Centerpoint has plenty of service options. Bow has 5yr warranty.
Does adding locktight to the riser and scope rail bolts void the manufacturer warranty?
I don't know, I'd do it anyway. The blue locktight isn't permanent.
Great review..Would you truly recommend buying this crossbow?Looking at one now.Thank you.
Yes, with the condition you tighten up the bolts, using lok-tight thread locker. It's been holding up great, shoots great. In my opinion, one of the best values- you can even use the scope it comes with.
@@underdogoutdoors Thank you so much.
Wonder if Centerpoint improved the quiver because the one I just bought isn't difficult to put a bolt in at all.
Bought 7/23.
I wouldn't be surprised, they received feedback & likely improved.
Good tips and great review sir... I'll be checking out some more shortly
Thank You, some how I missed your comment last week! My apologies!
Does it have A mounting lug for A bayonet ?
Yes, next to the grenade launcher.
Great vid man, keep up the good work....
Thank You!
Thank you I’m looking at getting into the archery game so this was a great video 🎉
Thank you & good luck, I've been using it all bow season and it's holding up, very accurate.
Very helpful information. Did you use 400 grain bolts as recommended by Centerpoint? Thanks!
I just read your reply to another subscriber...so no need to respond to my question! I wanted to know if the bow needed to shoot p!us 400 grain bolts to protect the li.bs. It seems it does well the recommended weights!
I'm sure it can shoot a few grains lighter than 400, but feel it best to keep it close, 400gn at +400fps+ is magic.@@Mark-on7pz
Hard to believe you could break a carbon bolt putting it in the quiver, learning the hard way is expensive. Wow 400 FPS is wicked fast.
Nice looking shop Andy.
Thanks Don. I love my Parker's but for $599 and 407fps, couldn't resist.
@@underdogoutdoors Just got mine in yesterday. What I found about quiver loading is as follows. Set in place and push to left or right to widen the opening and roll bolt into position. simple, easy, and not much pressure required. Hope this helps someone. Thank you for the great vids!
@@mikkichaplain435 Thanks for the input! I've been super careful with the quiver, the crossbow is holding up nicely, hope it serves you well.
How would it do for game like elk?
It's much heavier than a compound bow to carry, but it's also faster & more accurate, xbow will have more penetration as well. With a good sling or backpack you can strap the crossbow, it's definitely an option- if the law allows.
Can you DeCock with the crank?
I don't believe so.
Hit all the points concisely. Good shot video 👍
Thank You!
How heavy would you say the trigger pull is on it?
I have not put a scale on it, I am happy with the trigger pull.
would you recomend it for a begginer?
If you follow all the safety precautions, same as any other on the market, and tighten down the bolts mentioned, I think a beginner would be fine with it. It's a high performance bow at a reasonable low price.
@@underdogoutdoors thanks I am looking for a croosbow and this one is one of my options, greetings
@@alejandrogarzon6834 It's a good choice
@@underdogoutdoors my friend thanks for all
The quiver is tight so that as the crossbow gets broken in and used a lot they don't become loose or rattle. "I just need to buy and replace this one part....I don't need to send the entire thing back and be out of that crossbow for weeks or months waiting on you.">
I believe you put the cable slide on the wrong side
This is how a review video should be done!
Thanks!
I NEVER USE THE QUIVERS THAT COME WITH THEM ANY WAY . I USE A HIP QUIVER . AND NEVER USE THE STOCK SCOPES EITHER .. AND I USE BOW-JAX LIMB SILENCERS , STRING SILENCERS , ETC .
Separate quiver is a great idea. I agree 100%
Is the arrow rail aluminum?
Yes, it's an aluminum rail. The crossbow is built well.
@@underdogoutdoors thank you
Looks similar to the Scorpion S….good crossbow!
Just an idea something I do on any new quiver and a little wax to where they lock in you'll find how much easier they slide in and out Don't go crazy
Thank you, that's a great idea!
If you didn't buy this bow. What would you buy
There's not much out there as compact as this Wrath 430 close to the same price. I do like the Wicked Ridge line, a good company & good value.
I had this crossbow in my sites, thank you
Your Welcome!
Thanks for the great video.
Appreciate it!
How much does this weigh? Just curious.
I believe it's around 9lbs with scope & full quiver. I'd have to go back & check, but it's likely close to that.
The 400-500 year old bows used a double handle crank system.
Wonder why no bow is using that double-so-powerful-cranking-system today. It would mean double the speed to load the same bow.
Amazing, the technology from way back then.
More weight. Less compact.
Which bolts and broadheads are you using?
For some reason, just seeing this comment now, my apologies. Using the stock bolts and 100gn Slick Trick broadheads.
Thanks for the follow up!!
My pleasure!
wish companies would just offer the models slightly cheaper with no scope instead of making you pay for a cheap one many replace anyway.
The scope it comes with actually isn't bad, my friend is using it on his xbow & it's extremely usable.
@@underdogoutdoors It sounds promising. I think I will buy this one but still selecting information of several models to make the best choice for me. Happy New Year btw!
@@underdogoutdoors Hi mate, that's a good message for the reliability. I'm thinking about to buy one after your review. But I will first check out a little bit what kind of other models exist and ask around before make a final decision. Happy New Year btw.!
@@AlexDerhuan Killer Instinct makes some decent affordable crossbows, I know a few people that have them and are happy, you may want to research them as well. Happy New Year!
Great video. Thank you.
Hope it helped!
Can it shoot bread sticks, with garlic tips....?....I am going hunting in Italy soon....thanks...
you did a good job with your review ,,, how is it still holding up ?
Thanks! It's holding up great, solid, great crossbow for the money for sure.
Minor issues. Very nice for the price
Agree, it's worth the money for sure.
@@underdogoutdoors just bought one for $400
@@jesseteick891 Worth every penny!
I like center point 👍 strong good crossbows.
Way better than my old whamo .
I love mine
You know to be honest it's a toss-up between that crossbow and the Barnett crossbow because they're both made in China but I believe the Barnett's have a better trigger I shot one of those once and it man it had a heavy heavy trigger maybe there was something wrong with it I don't know but I didn't like the trigger pull on it at all and it seemed to be really heavy to front heavy
Barnett is made in Florida. Centerpoint is made overseas but not China lol
Just use silicon on the hard rubber
cant wait to get the HEAT 425 into my hands....
I believe it's a quality crossbow, and a great value.
That plastic cooking hook snapped in half on the VERY FIRST draw!! I'm actually on the road now to return this P.O.S
Sorry to hear, so far, my cocking sled has had no issues, good luck with the return.
@@underdogoutdoors Durhams refused the return. Claiming a crossbow is a firearm. I was told to purchase a new draw sled.
It all boils down to trust. This is a deadly tool with very cheap accessories. Which makes me question the quality & workmanship of the entire product. I don't feel safe shooting this product 20' up in a tree.
@@cw6136 I completely understand.
@@underdogoutdoors The left cam is seized. This explains why the draw sled broke. It looks like I'll have to try my luck with the BBB and potentially see if my bank will honor a charge back. Just an FYI. Buyer beware when shopping @ Dunham's Sports.
@@cw6136 no crossbow is returnable. They have a warranty, use it.
Very good 👍👍🥰🇰🇷🌷⚘

Thanks brother!
All xbow quivers are junk, if kept on bow
I take the quiver off when on stand.
All new crossbows need locktite!
If they would fix these problems this crossbow would be slinging heat all day.
I will do some research on the issues. Not disagreeing with you, I just have not heard this and have not experienced this. I own 3 of these now, shoot often & have not had any issues other than the ones covered in the video. I have taken 2 bucks this season alone with Centerpoint crossbows, on video, you can watch on my channel. I don't have any affiliation with Centerpoint, I like the design and the price/value. Good luck & thanks for the comment.
Centerpoint Wrath 430, is it Junk? With the word "Junk" in the subject heading you set a poor mental picture in the mind of your viewers...bad! Regarding the issues you outline...insignificant. I never mount a quiver on my bow...weighty! Using loktite to secure bolts may be problematic if disassembly is required but there again not a problem.
