You're the 4th David/Dave I've come across in the past 20 mins doing a tutorial on the 550D. I might need to do one myself. Thank you for this, by the way!
Hi I bought this camera with a specific purpose, because I heard it was good for musicians to make music videos. However, I now have to get get this to work with a mac computer and a sound system. Any ideas?
What kind of card do you have and what class Is it. the class of the card is how fast it will write to the camera if your classe is a low number it will not write to the card fast enough therefore causing your camera to automatically stop. Class 8 or higher is usually the best class to use. I hope this helps
Great turtorial! Wanted to ask if you have any idea why my t2i always stops filming automatically after about 14 seconds, no matter how long my max recording time is. Keep up the good work!
@MediaUnlocked I edit on imovie as a 'large' file and export with quicktime. I was told that creating HD videos on imovie would prevent youtube users from being able to watch video's on their phones. The raw footage on my camera isn't much more clear than what you see on my video there. Do you think it could be my lens or something?
Once again, I'll interject. The T2i has the capabilities to increase shutter speed. The higher your shutter speed, the less motion blur you will get while filming. Of course, this does decrease the overall brightness of your image, which you can compensate for with either f-stop or iso. There is really no need to shoot in either 30 or 60 frames per second; with the right settings, you can film motion easily in 24fps.
what class is your card and what sizes it. If your card classes is a six or lower. Then the card is too slow to work with the HD video speaks of the Canon T2I
@MediaUnlocked well i just changed it to manual last night from watching your video. So i AM yet to shoot another video, but when I was messing around with it last night it was still pretty blurry.
I had same issue, and I know very little to nothing about cameras. It appears to work fine in MF setting vs AF setting. Mine would shut off after 8 seconds in AF but does not do it in MF.
@BonkoMusic Same way you do so when taking a pictures you hold down the the av button located on the up right side of the lcd screen and use the wheel above your shutter button at the same time
@AwesomeWonderz You have to play around with iso,apature and shutter till you get the right exposer it take practice just go out and shoot 10-20 minutes every day you will pick it up
@MediaUnlocked Hey I do have one question for you. I put all of my settings as you have in these two videos, and my video footage is still coming out blurry. I have a brand new T3i.... not sure why it's looking like this. If you watch the video on my home page, that's the quality that is coming out. I feel like it should definitely be more clear. Do you have any advice or suggestions?
i have been watching your videos its great, why i dont have the same menu as you, all i did installed the magic larten, do i hav to do any thing else, i am on pc olso any help plzzz
Hey great video! How do I get my video camera to focus while shooting? I adjust it using the lenses, but its so close to my face. I want it not as close to my face, but I still want it to focus.
@OriginalFakeHI canon 28-135mm I believe to change you video setting turn dial to video mode click menue on your camera got to second red box to your right the first tap will be change video settings hope this helped
I'll explain this a bit more. The human eye sees at approx. 24 frames per second. That is why most movies filmed for the big screen shoot in 24fps; it looks much more natural than the standard 30fps.
@cashimirs I hope to be one of the first people in the Us with the new t3i I plan on having a review up on it with in 48 hours of it being out if all goes well. What is you spending limit on a new camera
@cashimirs You can have flickering problems with shutter speed at 1/30 or 1/50 or none at all see wich one you like better you dont have to have it at 1/50 if you dont want to.
Hey this vid is great! I am experiencing some grainy video with my t2i and i'm wondering how this can be avoided? I know it depends on my lighting of the scene but what usually causes a video to be grainy?
@afg1200 my guess your card is a lower class and the video footage is being sent to it faster then the card can handle it. YOu really need a class 6 or higher to for the camera to be able to shoot video.
@MediaUnlocked what sd cards do you recommend brand wise and how much video length can be recorded on them. im primarily going to be purchasing the t2i (well now the t3i) for video purposes only.
How do you adjust the options at the bottom? I want to know how to change the aperture and ISO while in video mode, I can only figure out how to change the shutter speed with the dial.
@DicksonTanTV Hi, I'm pretty new to the 550D but I believe this is due to what video system you use. PAL doesn't for some reason support the higher frame rate. If you change over to NTSC it's suddenly available.
I shoot in 50fps to avoid the light flickering in my country but my shutter speed can't go under 1/60. Don't I need 1/50 to decrease the noise in low light videos? What shall I do?
I put my video settings nearly identical to yours, however the issues I'm having is while shooting video I often get the Automatically Shutting down video. I see the buffering indicator however I'm not moving the camera to erratically. I'm using a 32gig Class 10 SD card, so I can't figure out why I get so many shutdowns.
Media Unlocked Nope, I don't have magic lantern, but I did find a better solution. If you format the SD card prior to shooting that seems to help a lot. Today I placed an order for two Lexar Platinum II 200x 16GB SDHC - Class 10's. I've heard that these have less issues with buffering, but I did see two people mention that did have buffering issues, nonetheless it appears that formatting the disc prior really helps.
Is there a time limit when recording videos on the t2i and if so what is it? If there is can i record one one card and keep switching to different cards to record longer?
@ysydor18 The quality will be better if you zoom with the lens and I have never used the digital zoom let me play with over the next few days and I will get back with you.
my camera only lets me record like a few seconds and then it says "movie recording has been stopped automatically" what settings should i change for this??? thank you!
@ivanalizett Yes switch it over to manual and do the focusing manually. THe sound will not go away if the focusing is set to automatic. Hope this helps if not message me I believe I have video on how to do this
Hey men! Once again Great Video. I would like to send you 2 small videos I took with my camera so you can listen a noise the camera is doing with the EFS 55-250 lens. Can I and how? Thanks
You're the 4th David/Dave I've come across in the past 20 mins doing a tutorial on the 550D. I might need to do one myself. Thank you for this, by the way!
Join the team man. If its good I will post it on here and send people over to your channel.

Found your tutorial on video. How do you export the video to edit? CAn you connect the hdmi to a monitor while shooting the video?
@MediaUnlocked well i just changed it to manual last night from watching your video. So i AM yet to shoot another video, but when I was messing around with it last night it was still pretty blurry.
@maxin16able look on front of your camera on the right side there is a button that says iso click on it and use your dial to change it.
@TastyTortilla What do u need it for it depends on what u are shooting
I had same issue, and I know very little to nothing about cameras. It appears to work fine in MF setting vs AF setting. Mine would shut off after 8 seconds in AF but does not do it in MF.
@BonkoMusic Same way you do so when taking a pictures you hold down the the av button located on the up right side of the lcd screen and use the wheel above your shutter button at the same time
@JamieJones89 Is your dial set in movie mode. The menue options change for each dial setting. It has nothing to do with the sd card.
@AdamtheArchitect There is a button with a camera on it to the right of your eye piece you click to record video
@AwesomeWonderz You have to play around with iso,apature and shutter till you get the right exposer it take practice just go out and shoot 10-20 minutes every day you will pick it up
@FRANKORILLA You have to manually focus using the your focus ring on the lens
Will this cam let me VIDEO a 2hr project non stop without any problems.
@MediaUnlocked

@MediaUnlocked you know where the shoulder strap connects to? theres those big rings, im talking about them
i watched the 3 parts
thanks alot,,, you are a saver
now i can use my 550D knowing what i'm doing
@DarylleJ maybe it looks a little out of focus are you shooting in automatic or manual
try turning the sound of and see if that fixes it plus do you have ML on your camera
@RaubElch What kind of card do you have you need a class 8 or higher
Hey great video! How do I get my video camera to focus while shooting? I adjust it using the lenses, but its so close to my face. I want it not as close to my face, but I still want it to focus.
With your hand on the focus ring it does not have auto focus for video.
@tarkuss88 are you try to import from your camera if so have you installed the canon eos software
what type of card are you using and what class is it
What card do you suggest in this case? Thanks.
@ysydor18 No so you are saying you zoom your lens manually but it records as if you did not zoom you lens
@jackaboonie this iso button is on the top right side of the camera next to dial
@OriginalFakeHI canon 28-135mm I believe to change you video setting turn dial to video mode click menue on your camera got to second red box to your right the first tap will be change video settings hope this helped

what type of card do u have and try turn off audio recording and see if it still does it
@MediaUnlocked Well, you know how much light you allow to go through the lens. It looks like a long slider.
Whats better for filming a lot of motion. 60 fps or 30
@ALKUKES what functions are you missing
@cashimirs You can have flickering problems with shutter speed at 1/30 or 1/50 or none at all see wich one you like better you dont have to have it at 1/50 if you dont want to.
What kind of lens is attached to your body in this vid? What is your typical "walk-around" lens?
why does mine always say after about 10 seconds. Recording stopped automatiticly
how long can you record video on the T2i??
Hey this vid is great! I am experiencing some grainy video with my t2i and i'm wondering how this can be avoided? I know it depends on my lighting of the scene but what usually causes a video to be grainy?
where did you get those strap clips? are they easy to remove and put on?
@afg1200 my guess your card is a lower class and the video footage is being sent to it faster then the card can handle it. YOu really need a class 6 or higher to for the camera to be able to shoot video.

@DicksonTanTV
Hi, I'm pretty new to the 550D but I believe this is due to what video system you use. PAL doesn't for some reason support the higher frame rate. If you change over to NTSC it's suddenly available.
@TastyTortilla Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 or Canon 10-22mm 3.5
@RaubElch what class is that it needs to be a class 8 or higher
Hi, is it enabled to change the aperture in video mode? I have KIT (18-55mm) lens, and I can only adjust the shutter speed and ISO
@MediaUnlocked

I shoot in 50fps to avoid the light flickering in my country but my shutter speed can't go under 1/60. Don't I need 1/50 to decrease the noise in low light videos? What shall I do?
you should check magic lantern out it adds some great fetchers to the camera
@MediaUnlocked On sandisk
Is transcend supposed to be better or something
How can I set cinematic colour in canon T2i in video mode?
I put my video settings nearly identical to yours, however the issues I'm having is while shooting video I often get the Automatically Shutting down video. @SpyderBlackLives transcend or sandisk
@MediaUnlocked so how does iso and shutter speed work when shooting video? The higher the ISO the lower the shutter speed you want to use?
Is there a time limit when recording videos on the t2i and if so what is it? If there is can i record one one card and keep switching to different cards to record longer?
@ysydor18 The quality will be better if you zoom with the lens and I have never used the digital zoom let me play with over the next few days and I will get back with you.
@BKMTpictures i use the cord it comes with and I import it into iphoto (mac)

@911sreekanth You have it set to M mode
Hey men! Once again Great Video. I would like to send you 2 small videos I took with my camera so you can listen a noise the camera is doing with the EFS 55-250 lens. Can I and how?
Thanks
@TastyTortilla depend on your budget. 70-200 L lens is always good.
@Snowvdo it can only shoot 12minutes at a time
