  • In this episode of our limited series of the 1723 Podcast, we talk about two of the main protagonists in the history of the 1723 Constitutions: the Dukes of Montagu and Richmond.
John Montagu, 2nd Duke of Montagu, accepted the position of Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of England in 1721 and was the first nobleman to do so. Charles Lennox, 2nd Duke of Richmond, became the fourth noble Grand Master of Grand Lodge in 1724 and was also the Master of London's most influential Masonic lodge, the Horn Tavern Lodge.
Our host Shaun Butler sat down with Mark Dennis, Curator of the Museum of Freemasonry, to explore the history between these two fascinating characters.
