    Sand works great inside the tube to not collapse pvc tubing when heating and bending. Just for future reference.

    When i made mine i used a piece of brake line to bend into the hook then you screwed it right to the ball valve and put a barb fitting on the other side to hook to the hose

    When you’re done using it just loosen the pump handle, open the ball valve and use a little shop air to push most of the fluid back into the pump sprayer, great idea Sir 👍😁

    We always heated the 80/90 gear oil in hot water, before using it to change lubricant. (Ya HAVE to in Cold Weather, ya know?). Lol...

    Nice video! But, I bought a Black & Decker “Jack Rabbit” pump 25 years go. It’s a hand rotary tubing pump. I have used it for gear oil, trans oil, PS fluid, brake fluid, etc. It fits down the tubing of a dip stick for oil or trans fluid. When I overfilled something I could correct it easily. I always rinsed the inner part of the tubing with alcohol.

    I use a gear oil marine pump for filling a boat motor lower unit. I just wanted to say that works great for me.

    doing this today... going to leave the original line to the wand and just cut it off and attach the ball valve. clear tubing from the ball valve to an adapter (have one that fits into the fill fitting). for other cars I'll swap out the adapter for an open ended tube. thanks!

    You can also heat up plastic pipe, slide it into a spring that is just big enough to put the plastic pipe in, bend it keeps the shape round.
    Personally I just used a piece of copper pipe and use a silicone vacuum plug cap on the end of it when I’m not using it.

    I wonder if you could use a plastic bladder or plastic baggy inside it to make cleanup a little easier.
    Great video and DIY project! 👊🏼

    The only issue I have with this type of vinyl hosing is they tend to dry much faster when flushing/cleaning with brake cleaner. I began using purple degreaser like ZEP from HD to clean that hose.

    I think it will be fine as long as you don't try to pump cold (i.e., winter time outside temps) gear oil.

    great minds think a like good job, But the big question was the pump strong enough to move heavy gear oil?

    Amsoil has the bag and nozzle design that works good for the job.. but this more universal tool is likely good for all sorts a things

    Enjoyed the video and gave me ideas. Question: Do you have any times of how long it takes to transfer X amounts of Y fluids where X is the volume and Y is engine oil or gear oil or transmission fluid?

      Too small of an "Orifice" in the trigger mechanism, for Very Viscous Fluids.

    For the frequency we need to address gear and tranny/transfer case fluids 1 foot of clear vinyl tubing on the end of gear oil spout works just fine. Im not going to dedicate or clean a pressure bleeder to this job.

    • @akbychoice
      @akbychoice 5 місяців тому +1

      You can attach a vacuum to a container bigger than the fluid amount needing to be extracted. Just don’t do it with flammables like gasoline.

    Did you use 5/16" barb ball valve deliberately or because you couldn't find a 1/4" one at that time?

    • @WilliamTythas
      @WilliamTythas 5 місяців тому

      I'm guessing he went with that to maintain a 1/4 inside diameter and a fit that would not require a clamp
