Got 2 red lights and they don't turn green? Been waiting now 9 hours. Unplugged tgem, of course. They have juice, just no way to tell if they're fully charged without taking the batteries out and putting them in a smart charger? Fun video, btw.

When I tried to get them to come good they just kept telling me they were sending me a new charger. I told them the charger I had was fine, the batteries wouldn't hold a charge. They sent me a new batttery charger...I haven't checked their ebay feedback lately but I suspect it's gone down a bit. Also, their address is stated to be America, but they're far from fluent in english.

that will only happen if you program the radio to a tower and then get your licensee I do that every do and talk to Chicago ILL one a month on a tower link from Minnesota W R X N 824
Open the battery compartment on the back of radio and you'll see you can put rechargeable batteries in. Rechargeable batteries are a bit expensive but actually very cheap considering you can recharge them every night over and over an won't need to buy anymore batteries for a few years!

America will be hit either by Russia or China and the first thing they will go for is the infrastructure and communications. Being able to stay in communications in a SHFT situation Will be vital to survival.
As for the range... Well... I don't know. As for the base charger, that's just plain sh***. After two uses, it wouldn't charge. I had to use the plug on the top of each device which is wayyyy less convenient. Also, the charger doesn't come with a wall outlet, just a USB. Was it too expensive for Cobra to include the wall outlet?
Oh! And keep in mind that you should never speak into the device directly. Either angle it from your mouth (about one or two inches on the right or on the left of your mouth) or take it farther in front of your mouth. This way, you avoid distortion.

Yeah these radios suck. There okay for around the house. I volunteer doing park services in my park and i dont even get 1 mile range through the woods. For home/family use, around the house at the park but for any serious use i suggest MURS over GMRS or FRS

@@bhaz I mostly walk and pick up garbage and direct ppl who are lost(its a very big park, over 3,400 acres) and theres a Hatchery and a artisan well, a river, various ponds and lakes, they breed the Trout in the hatchery til their big then release them into the main river branch where you can wade in and fish right there, BIG rainbow trout, Brook trout, their all stocked. I was so disappointed in these Cobra radios i actually bought a set of Baofengs UV-5Rlll, i dont have my ham license yet so im staying off those frequencies, but i simply use MURS and even GMRS but at 5Ws of power not 0.5W, it works well, add to that the 14 inch Nagoya Antenna even better. I know technically thats a no no as its not MURS type accepted or type 97 certified but the way i use them im simply transmitting at a higher than legal limit of 2W for gmrs n .5 for frs, my radios 5Ws I typed and saved the NYS park police frequencies, if im in the woods and come upon an emergency i can radio it in directly. Receiving is a whole other matter, anyone can listen but in any event i would only use it in an emergency as i have a set frequency my father is also on at home so i can talk to him, i even typed in the frequency for the Cobra radio channel 1 so i can talk to my finace also, just have to switch frequency. Im epileptic so its important i maintain contact with someone, cus god forbid i had a seizure deep in the woods id be screwed. Lol. But i actually went out yesterday, test out some new gear, Connetqout State park is pretty big tho. I was thinking about getting a roof antenna for my house that connects to my dads radio, so when i go on far hikes i still get him in range but im new to HAM and dont know which one or type, have to look into it.
I have that same model 7 years still doing great. Teasted and proven 12miles on mountain elevated range and on my rides helps a lot. Complete
