My husband is a cop. He warned me that he would be less likely to shoot a person even if he thought he would die. He said I am providing for my family better by dying then going through a media trial and losing my job. They are leaving because of the lack of backing from their employers, community, and general society. They work every holiday, weekend, and family birthdays. But they get treated like crap. Perfection is the expectation and humans can't be perfect.

Exactly what it turned into in Iraq and Afghanistan about half way through the years. Became so hard to protect yourself bc the rules of engagement made by people sitting safely in an office that we had more fear of going to jail in the USA for murder than there was for being shot by the taliban! Totally insane.

This is how we get Robot cops. Literally Robocops! Robots have no skin color, no personality, don’t judge, cannot have compassion, don’t give you a “break”, can’t feel “overworked”, and do not care if you’re in an emergency. A dystopian sci-fi becoming reality awaits if we let it. This isn’t to say that they don’t behave like this already, but to make it an entire force is truly nightmarish.

Some of them treat people like animals. I'm from Denmark and here we respect the police and are generally happy with how they interact with people and applaud them for their work. Here in Denmark, the police don't interact with a drawn pistol but with open arms, and they are educated in pedagogy just like our school teachers are, which means that they know how to interact with criminals, violent people, and the mentally ill. The police shoot maybe once or twice a year here and that's warning shots. Here the police have to be in real danger and not feel like they are in danger before it is legal for them to shoot. Thats one of the reasons why Denmark is voted the greatest and most happy country in the world. Cut the crap and admit that the police force in the us is to blame. If they tried to treat people better, maybe there wouldn't be such hostile interactions between cops and individuals. The cops in the U.S. kind of give you the feeling that they are power-hungry and act out of feelings, not intellect. You call yourself the greatest country in the world, but the world knows that the U.S. is one of the worst countries in the West

I’ve been a cop for 25 years. I’m retiring in June and no amount of money will make me stay. I could have pursued a lot of different careers that paid a hell of a lot more than I’ve made in my career. I chose to be a cop because I felt a sense of duty to my fellow citizens. I’ve always been the guy that defended my friends from bullies. I never started a fight but I never walked away from one either. Cuomo is mostly correct. I don’t know anyone who is leaving because of the money. They’re leaving because we’ve been betrayed by the political class and many of the citizens in this country. They’ve blamed us for all of society’s problems and simultaneously made our jobs impossible to do. The “progressive” left has emboldened the criminal element unlike anything I’ve seen in my lifetime. It’s a recipe for disaster. My advice to the law abiding citizens of this country is to buy a gun(s) and learn how to properly use them. You’re now living in a world where only the strong survive. You can be a wolf or sheep.

@@kdawg2472 Agreed, the cops aren't always the good guys, there's definitely a problem with protecting bad cops. But your argument isn't a good one, it will probably always be true. Assuming that cops are 1% of the population and non-cops are 99%, the expected number of falsely imprisoned non-cops is going to be 99 times greater than falsely imprisoned cops.
Cops don't really throw people in prisons, they arrest people and recommend cases to the AG. Courts and AGs send people to prison. AGs have wide discretion on what should and should not be prosecuted. It's true that cops can target people and lie about evidence, but AGs and courts look the other way while they do it.
If we want to reform, lets make sure we do it right. My point about the Chauvin case was that for me, it sends a clear message to cops that it's just best not to do your job, especially when a PoC is involved, because it might be a whole lot worse for your family than getting killed.

Cops quitting like this is a serious issue. This is not something anybody should be happy about. Society NEEDS police in order to function optimally. When MSM and a large part of society says ALL cops are bad when in reality it’s a very small % that are, they make all the good ones wanna quit too. We are only gonna solve this issue by offering more incentives like much better pay, and the people who respect their local PD’s need to support them more than ever with morale.

I had a conversation with a buddy who is in the NYPD. He had this to say.
"The fact that the city council made it easier for criminals to get out of jail. Lessened penalties for felony assault and weapons charges didn't help. They along with the District Attorney demonize cops and look to penalize even when there is no wrong doing on the cops part. Cops here have stopped being proactive and have learned to be the best report writers ever. Because of that the Detective squads are now over worked. With less cops now, there is more mandated OT forced on the remaining ones. No home life. No time to decompress from any of it coupled with the fact that nobody likes you.... they don't want to do this anymore."
There's no sense in doing it if nobody is behind you having your back. The NYPD are normal people who decided to serve and protect. Not get served and be unprotected. If nobody enforces law n order. It gives government a reason to impose control through laws and bills.

But the actual truth that only a small percentage of people like myself can see is that Chris, and the other greedy vultures just like him, has always known and understood what the truth is just like me, except he will gladly betray and be deceptive for money, fame, and power. I will never respect him nor believe his false deception or being awakened to truth specifically because he knowingly lied and tried to destroy decent and honest people and went along with betrayal such as Russia gate, and that's something I could never do because you have completely given yourself over to evil to be able to do something like that. As far as I'm concerned the only way it could be saved is to repent to the Lord and that's something only between the two of them, because unless I saw some kind of real change in him like for going all money and fame, giving all of that up to live a humble simple Life for the Lord would be the single one way that would change my opinion about him and people like him. His love of money is the root of all evil. To give all of that up would be a ultimate show of faith and change.

After having put in 34 years in Law Enforcement, I would've probably chosen a different profession if I knew how things turned out. It's a thankless job and people vote in clown politicians who won't have your back. They pander to the lowest of the low and vilify those that have been tasked with protecting society. I would like to think I made a difference in my career, but looking back, it was all just a "grain of sand going against the ocean". Hell, even the people you worked with, forget about you once you're gone. The "job" used to be like a big family, now it's not even a job, it's just a way to pay your bills until you find something better or you just get so sick of it and you just walk away from it. As they say on the NYPD, "The job is dead"......

One of my distant family was a cop in the 80s. Never met the man but doing family history research I found news articles of his service. Very good and well respected but he was embroiled in a faulty warrant charge and missing drug contraband charge and he was on the record "he was being scapegoated". One slip up and everyone is out to get you.

I used to be a huge police supporter.. This year alone I got pulled over 3 times for the 'crime' of having dark window tint. Got tickets all 3 times ($250 each) the 1st one, the cop saw a knife inside my car and treated me like a criminal.. "get out of the car, hands behind your back, patted me down and searched the car without consent. Wrote me the ticket and left me defenseless by taking my knife and pocket knife. I do delivery around the Boston area btw.. Lots of crazy around here...
The 2ndd time, I explained to the guy that I was in the process of getting a medical exemption, I even showed him my medical records that were requested by the doctor... he thanked me for opening all the windows as I always do when I get pulled over because I know it makes them feel safer, and gave me a ticket anyway...
The 3rd time, by a state trooper, I had the medical exemption signed by the doctor already, but it wasn't approved by the rmv yet... cop questioned me for like 5 min, went back to his car and came back with 3 citations.. warning for the tint, ticket for a cracked mirror and a ticket for the height (as he described it) he noticed how confused I was and said "well, you have to pay something" meaning, 'I didn't stop you in vain...
So, how many bad experiences do you need to have with an organization before you just say F them all.. now imagine millions of people who have been through similar or worse... what I'm trying to get at here is, the reason people hate cops so much is because of the cops themselves... they screw over their own communities with these ridiculous traffic stops and cry and complain that no one 'appreciates' them.
So from a previous police supporter, I now say F THE POLICE, I HOPE THEY DO GET DEFFUNDED!!!! I don't need them, I can take care of myself.

Some cops were forced out for not taking the jab, others moved on to other police departments that treat them like adults. A lot of nepotism in the NYCPD is another reason.
