The Physical Tour (also known as the Physical Tour of North America and North American Tour '82) was the fifth concert tour by Australian recording artist Olivia Newton-John, in support of her 12th studio album, Physical (1981). The tour primarily visited North America[2] the second largest by Newton-John, visiting arenas and stadiums.
The show had advanced technical aspects at the time, and was divided into four segments, determined by Newton-John costume changes and a video interlude.[3] The tour was a commercial success and received generally positive reviews, regarded as one of the most popular and most remembered shows by the singer.[4] Footage from the tour has been broadcast on a number of channels across the world. Olivia in Concert, a concert home video of Newton-John's performance in Ogden, Utah, was released in 1983.

Absolutely incredible how pitch perfect she is live. I’ve always believed, like Empress, that ONJ is one of the great vocalists of our time. Certainly can hold her own amongst the greats 💁🏻♀️

This is THE concert that turned me into a huge fan! The way she can connect with the audience, the camera, and the band shows what a great entertainer she is. Also impressive to me is that after doing the song Physical, with all the exercises, that she can then do a ballad. That is such a hard thing to do after any kind of physical exertion, and do it well! She is AWESOME!

Still magic after all this time. I remember watching this on HBO, and talking to my best friend via kitchen telephone with the long cord to reach the living room. Good times. Olivia 's voice is strong here with so much control! She's dancing! Choreography! And, almost too gorgeous for my screen. Great choice
Spectacular!!! I remember playing scrabble with my mom and sister and my mom turn this concert on (HBO). I remember it being my turn, I was just about to put my letters down and I.....heard.....Olivia singing, I....heard; the start of Sam. I stopped what I was doing, turned my head and it was a done deal! 40 years later and my jaw still hasn't shut when it comes to this woman. That voice, that emotion, that sweetness. And wrapped up in a very nice package too! It's fun to watch this through your eyes Empress!

I can barely hear the commentary, the volume seems really low but I can hear the concert just fine. But the fact that Empress is singing along with all the songs tells me that she is a true fan now and not just saying so to gain more subscribers. Can I just say that Jolene blew me away... leading into Sam... ahhhh such happiness.

Something about this tour makes me adore her even more as a person. She just hyped up her audition and made them feel so warm and welcomed and you can feel that through a screen. Not just the fact she’s a beautiful singer that’s a known fact but she’s the most gentle, caring celebrity I have ever admired and I wish I knew of her longer because she brings me so much joy and happiness.
I remember this tour. I was in junior high, 7th grade. It ran for years on hbo in repeat.
I’ve watched this concert literally hundreds of times. But watching it with you was giving me goosebumps all over again! When singers could sing and it was just her, the band and the audience. No backup dancers, pyrotechnics or other distractions. Perfect concert!

Pop PERFECTION!!! This is my all time favourite concert from anyone, sure there are way more choreographed and staged tours from other artists, but these vocals blow just about every other artist out of the water... I think this tour shocked many people who didn't realise Olivia's voice was actually powerful and could stand up to an hour and a half without even looking like it was hard... An artist to admire for sure. Loved how much you enjoyed this Empress and knew that you would. Cheers!

After all of these years, this is still a truly fantastic concert. It’s just a Livia in the band, the back up singers in the audience. Her voice is on point and her beauty is beyond compare. What else do I want on this chilly Saturday morning in Florida. Before my mother passed away, this concert brought her much joy. Rest on, Mother.

That was so SWEET! Really took me back to early childhood when this Olivia was the one that made the biggest early impression on me. I remember in like grade 2 primary school the boys would sing Let’s Get Physical jokingly and on the “let me hear your body talk” line they’d make a big fart sound with their mouths to gross out the girls 😂 Ah kids… of course none of us understood what the song was really about!

I enjoyed that concert. Thankfully I saw her a few years back in Vegas and she was amazing. It was one of my bucketlist things to do. Not sure if she`s still performing in Vegas but if she is you must go see her.

September 26, 1982, ONJ's 34th birthday, I was at her concert in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was amazing!
The iconic Physical tour. I always wished they had released a live album of the concert. Olivia was & still is my lifelong idol. She was the only famous person I ever wanted to meet & I managed to go that in 1995 in London. Believe when I say that it was the perfect fan meets idol moment. Just me & her alone, it was really magical. When her friend arrived he took the most amazing photo of me & her. She was so lovely to me that night & had a great sense of humour. She was one of the greatest. Sadly missed.

Was 11-years old and, for some reason, I remember staying up late to watch on HBO. I had been in love with Olivia since I saw Grease but my obsession ran high during this era, especially. Great reaction. I cannot believe this concert is 40 years old. No frills, no special effects, just a pure performance.

I was in high school in 1982 and not close enough to any concert venues to go. My two older sisters were in college out of town and were able to go. I WAS the huge ONJ fan and I was upset that they got to go but I didn't😪. They did bring me back a program, which I think I still have somewhere. I was very happy that the concert was taped for HBO. This is such a special concert for all of us ONJ fans.😍

I've been lucky enough to have seen ONJ once in concert in Miami 2001 and got to meet her after the show and talk with her. I also met her once on Melrose Ave in Hollywood !! I've seen this concert 50 times now. Enjoy Empress

Amazing vocals, high notes that are just so amazing and always concentrating on what she does best ... singing ... no unnecessary concert gimmicks ... SUPERB!!! I enjoy concert tour videos that I have seen in person, but the performers were often tiny dots on the stage with my often ' nose bleed' section seating. Madonnas ' Blonde Ambition' tour I had far away seating. Hoping you get to react to that tour and or the 'Truth or Dare' documentary 💗

Ha Ha knew you'd be the one to review all 1.5 hours of this fabulous concert, ONJ at her very best. What an opener - DTTN, the live version is much better, enables her to show more of her repertoire. During much of the concert, I found it hard to differentiate if she was actually live or lip synching, it was that good. She was never pitchy. Just fabulous.

Damn Girl, you are an ONJ Fan, you know all the words, I am 57 this week, I was fortunate enough to see Olivia on the Physical tour, it was magical, her passion shows in every song, ONJ WAS SPECIAL, THEIR WILL NEVER BE ANYONE LIKE HER. This concert won the Grammy award for best love concert, of all the live concerts in 1982, Olivia won the Grammy for best love concert for the Physical tour

This DEFINITELY IS one of the BEST LIVE CONCERTS OF ALL TIME - I remember watching it back in 1983 when it was first on HBO and I thought the same thing THEN ! Olivia was just INCREDIBLE - AMAZZZZING VOICE AND PERSONALITY ! I'm just CURIOUS Empress . You said after she finished Jolene that this was the song that convinced you she was in the TOP 3 Female Vocalists of ALL TIME . Just wondering WHO ARE YOUR OTHER TWO IN THAT LIST ???
