The guides have a heroic goaal to guide & protect each individual they work for. All while trying to insure that both guide & climber arrive back down alive & well. Sadly these Sherpas are only paid from 1500-2000 for the entire 3months of hard, extreme, & dangerous work. The government, touring companies take the majority. They can only make one trip to Everest a year as it is a seasonal climb. It's such a low amount for such difficult & unsafe work. So if you choose to climb Mt Everest be sure to directly tip the person that is in charge of guiding you. Many of these men are risking their lives working hard to provide for there families.

Absolutely not true, some crevasses are hidden and even just when you checked the ground your gonna step on, accidents can happen all the time, we are human and we're not perfect, we make mistakes ya know. I know this because I have 12 years of Mountaineering experience. Some of my biggest climbs are Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, and my biggest victory is Lhotse. I too have fallen into a Crevasse even when my team had already checked the grounds. One of my most scariest accidents was when I fell off my ice ladder and into a deep Crevasse in Lhotse, my team had to rope me out and yank real hard for 12 minutes straight whilst I dug my ice hammers into the Crevasse wall infront of me and digging the claws of my boots into the wall, I slowly pulled myself up until I made it safely thankfully. Like I said, no matter how experienced you are, you still make mistakes even when everything was throughly checked.

Well thank God he only fell a few feet instead of 100 of feet. But all of you saying why do people take these risk. Well you take plenty of risk driving a car. Everyday our lives are about risk. Those who have no regret lead full lives. Meaning they do not live in a closet but get out there and challange themselves. Before you say they risk others. No one is forced to be in rescue jobs and those people signup and enjoy the challange of there jobs also or they would not do it. While Everglade is not a very technically challenging mountain to climb it is a real crapshoot just because of the altitude. You can be the best trained person in the world and still die on this thing just because the fact that you just never know exactly how your body is going to act that day. Even having something as a tiny minor cold or eating the wrong food and end up giving you a upset stomach can make a huge difference on whether you get back or not. So much of this is beyond training and experience. The key is honest guide who will assess you for a few weeks before your big day and them being real honest if your are ready or not. When you sign up to do this it is not like signing up for a hike. You basically have to prove you have some climbing experience and required prove your fitness. You need thing like full physical done to ensure you have no heart problem. This is not like signing up for a summer tour around europe.
