Thank you, brother man. I wish I could be a touch more content with it, because like you, Alpine had always been a fave of mine. Sadly it falls short for mine.

Great review! The backpack is such a glaring omission on this figure for me. 😮💨 But I can live with the reuse for the other stuff at the end of the day I think.
Dope review Sharkeyes , besides the derp look this fig is OK at best . It’s a damn shame though because they had a chance to knock this figure out of the park & they went cheap AF !!! ✌🏽
Hey brother, thank you. You are spot on, it's not a home run and I don't feel it's wrong for us at this point to expect more from Hasbro when it comes to the release of iconic characters. Look at the way you alone support the line. I can't sit here and be told they don't have the budget available to nail these figures. It's simply tight fisted poor form.
The whole reason I got into Classified collecting was because I was impressed at how good Bazooka looked. Then I heard Alpine was slated for release. That’s what pushed me down the slippery slope. So I’m happy this is coming out soon.
Thanks, Campbo. Right? A mountaineer who needs his hands free for scaling, tying off ropes and so on doesn't want to have to worry about holding his kit.
Hey Bryan, the backpack and his original SMG are noticeably absent. The original grappling hook had two hooks and he came with one climbing axe as opposed to two. So that's where they've switched things up.
G’day mate! Or actually good evening in your locale. So I broke down and ordered him from the Asia market at the end of August. It came about two weeks ago. It’s essentially the retro card release imo but the figure is good. I think the articulation is suffering from the lack of soft goods for his gear though. He looks more dominicano or an admix to me or even Black American, as there’s a lot of variety in the appearance in general. I’m gonna do a v2 of him actually, with an extra buck I’ve got to give him another aesthetic. Glad ordered him though because even game stop here in the U.S. pushed him from today to 12/10/24, similar to pulse +- 9 days or so. Enjoyed the review! Glad I have mine, docks workers went on strike today here in the states so that may affect ship dates for things not already sorted out in the distribution hubs 🤷🏽♂️
Hey brother man, thanks for checking in. I think you hit the nail on the head, he does look Dominicano. I'm thankful to get him early without having had to pay the impatient tax, but I just feel he's not the home run he should have been. Thanks for the kind words and I hope the strike doesn't impede matters too much for you guys.
@@SharkEyesToyView hey brother Yes not the home run that many of the Alpine, Bazooka, Quick Kick fans had hoped for but they didn’t really blow away the other two figures either. Those were more or less a slight variant of their o-ring debuts actually. A change of color here and there does not a classified version of a figure truly make. None of them need a retro card imho cause hasbro did nothing radically different with their classified introductions. The next thing they did was recreate tf bazooka which is essentially a double dip retro and classified repaint also. Quick Kick definitely doesn’t need any retro card releases not after what they did with Sgt Stalker’s retro card release lol I paid the impatient tax for mine but I wanted to get this one the most of the wave he came in. I felt I could wait longer on the rest of it that I preordered but he was one I really was excited for. We’re starting to get further into the territory of releases I can skip a lot of preorders on because it’s getting into the OG 13 hold out game and the post 91-92 era stuff which I didn’t find interesting enough back then and since hasbro really plays things close to o-ring aesthetic anymore I doubt that’ll change all that much going forward. I’ve skipped out on a few of the figs in the last three waves and just took a wait and see approach. I’m not playing catchup this year, thankfully 😃 You are most welcome
I'm now curious to see what Stalkers Beret would like like on this head sculpt. I wonder if Alpine's head could swap onto stalker body....hmmmmm Younger version of Stalker custom.
Yep you're actually the second person to point out he looks like he hails from that corner of the world and I wholeheartedly agree. Thanks for tuning in, friend.
Nice one mate🍻Hasbro with a ‘casual’ Classified release. It works with some of the figs but yeah this guy is looking a bit too much like a weekend warrior.😎 In saying that I do like the Idaho t-shirt🌄
Better than I was expecting, some more realistic looking loose rope would have been nice. I hate heights but I do know climbers usually keep talc in that pouch on his back to stop their hands getting slippery. The SMG actually looks like a Saiga 12 SBS, a short barrelled semiautomatic shotgun (I should be getting one delivered tomorrow lol). I really wouldn't recommend him trying to climb with an M60 strapped to his back! Have you ever picked on up? They weigh a tonne and that's without all the ammo! lol. Yeah he looks Asian Indian to me too, I believe Wolf Spider (who I still can't find) is Native American Indian? Cheers for the great video as always!
Talc! That's right they do use powder for grip. Thank you for that intel. I just googled the Saiga, you're right it does look like that. I still don't think it's a good fit. As for him climbing with a 60 haha yeah no chance. Funnily enough I held one (with assistance) as a kid at an open day at an army barracks here in Melbourne. I guess him being trained in it could lend to him using a mounted one (pardon the pun).
@@SharkEyesToyView It's so random that you actually have also lifted an M60!! LOL especially since Australia isn't exactly known for allowing citizens to have guns, neither is the UK where I am (Wales) but I got my hands on a deactivated one at a Biker rally over here ;-)
Solid review. This figure feels like it was the last figure designed for the year and there was no budget left for accessories. I also feel his face sculpt is off. I didn’t own the OG figure, so I went back and saw a few cartoon image. In the cartoon, he looks to be drawn like a white guy, just shaded brown. I’m guess the sculptors went for a more realistic/ethnic appearance. Which I’m glad. I don’t kind the change and letting the figure grow on me. I think your analogy of soldier vs weekend warrior is spot on. Not being able to look up is shocking and a big miss. I wondered if getting some colored nylon cord and wrapping it, then glue/melt it to hold together would look better to lay across his body vs the plastic molded rope. 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Hey Flaffel, thanks for tuning in. The budget issue really should be a non-issue when we consider the success of the line, but of course, big business gonna big business. As for the face sculpt, he has somewhat of a podgy face, thankfully his hat/glasses can mask that somewhat. The head not being able to look up is indeed poorly executed, will be interesting to see if that and other misteps are resolved when the inevitable retro reissue comes around the mountain.
@@SharkEyesToyView “around the mountain”… nice touch… I don’t see this figure getting a retro release. He not a strong lead character & he’s not a troop builder.
Nice review. Personally, I don't have a problem with the head sculpt. Also, I'm only ever going to display him with the hat and goggles, so any weirdness about the face will hardly be noticeable. I do wish, however, that his pants were a bit more classically brown, as you mentioned, like the original 1985 figure. As for accessories, the re-used weapons are a bit lackluster, and the lack of backpack is unfortunate. I'm going to give my Alpine Outback's backpack and gun.
Thanks for checking it out, mate. Covering up the head sculpt is definitely the easy fix. As for his pants, yeah that may possibly be rectified with a retro. Weapons wise, another option besides Gridiron may be Etsy.
Great review Adam. I'm excited to get Alpine in the collection because I like the character, but the figure is a little bland. I like the climbing axes and the goggles, face doesn't bother me. Should've had some kind of backpack though since it was fits the character. Even though I hate most of the Classified backpacks because they don't stay on.
Cheers mate. I have to wonder if they ditched the backpack during a time they were doing R&D on how to actually make them better fit their figs or if it was merely costed out because he comes with all the other gear.
I agree they should have gave him a pack. Then you could have stored the ice axes on the pack along with the grappling hook. I also agree that having a mountaineering figure that cannot look up is very lame. Not sure what they were thinking about but cant always have everything be perfect. kind of makes me think they were rushing to get it out. might I suggest purchasing some weapons from gridiron studios they make great looking authentic and accurate weapons for the G.I. Joe classified line as a matter fact I have replaced most of my G.I. Joe classified line weapons with those from gridiron studios. Bazooka carrying a javelin missile system or the Carl Gustav recoiless rifle system in opinion is an excellent touch..
Oh it definitely feels either rushed or half-assed. As for Gridiron, I'm guessing you didn't see the section where I fitted him out with a Gridiron piece or where I mentioned their Mountaineer loadout (which I have on the way). I'm a big fan of their stuff. A Javelin or Gustav for Bazooka... both perfect choices. Well done.
100 percent agree with you abiut the dame wepons and grear , brother they can give us great that is to be with that specific fig ,they did when the line was out in the 80 s ,so they can do it but i feel they are lazy, cheap,or just dint want to take care of their customers..
Here's the thing, sure there was some weapon re-use early on in the original line (Stalker/Duke for example), but it was few and far between. Only the accessory packs took advantage of that. We're five years into the Classified line, which has been a big success the last 2 or so years. So nobody can tell me it's not a case of Hasbro being tight fisted. If the re-use makes sense (side arms and knives for example), I'm all for it, but when it's an accessory that is iconic to the figure there is no excuse to cheapen out.
Some misses with alpine. The classified missed with this great figure. The face and no back pack. I miss for greatly anticipated figure. Right now, the retro is the better line in my opinion. Good video sir.
Great review. Not really digging the face without the goggles and hat. When I get him, those goggles and hat aren’t coming off him. I agree with the accessories. They should have given him a backpack and his original guns instead of the alley vipers’.
Thanks for the kind words, Dave. Yep it's certainly not the best face sculpt they've put forward. No backpack is no bueno. They could have got away with the AV grapple gun and at least had a new mould made for his trademark SMG. Thankfully the Gridiron loadout rectifies Hasbro's shortcomings.
The bag on his back is to hold chalk for preventing excessive sweat from making a climber lose their grips. I think he should have come with a backpack to store all his equipment such as his climbing pickaxes. I think his face is a bit too wide and I'm not too sold on his Idaho tee shirt
It's just not Alpine enough for me. Not rugged. This fig is a part-time park guide wannabe climber, not a military mountaineer. Now that you mentioned it, I think the pants color is a big part of the unease I have with this. The head articulation on a lot of figs that should have it is a real problem with Classified.. such an easy thing to design for. Alpine is not a bad fig at all but not a must-have on my shelf.
The face is too wide and the nose should be slimmer. I'll be getting the mountain climber set from gridiron studios to upgrade him. His glasses should have a slight yellow tint to them. I'll have him hanging out with Bazooka and Quick-Kick. There's a new figure from Valaverse coming out this month that has a very nice bazooka and blast fx that I'll use to upgrade Bazooka. Good review. 👍🏾👍🏾
His face looks better in your video but I can't help but still feel weird about it. Hopefully that goes away once I have him in hand. This Alpine may immediately get a Gridiron loadout kit.
Hey Blitz, mate this figure is definitely getting the Gridiron loadout! It's not going to fix the faces but it's sure as shit going to kit him out properly.
Taken as a whole I like the figure, but he's for sure not a home run for me. Small changes could have gone a long way for me. The head sculpt doesn't really say Alpine to me but with the goggles on the sculpt matters less. His hat looks a bit too big and almost looks like a helmet. His outfit could have been a bit more classic...but I guess not everyone wants the 80s look when it comes to Classified Series figures. As I said, taken as a whole I like the figure and can't wait to get him.
Yeah they didn't knock this one out the park unfortunately. In terms of his outfit being more classic, it's interesting isn't it? On one hand they will release figures that are "Classified up" where the changes are noticeably different to the original figure, then you'll get a Classified figure and it's practically identical in deco and equipment to the original (Bazooka or Alley Viper for example).
@@SharkEyesToyView I mean all the classic elements are there for sure. But I don't know, it looks a bit off to me...maybe it's the colors? Wouldn't be the first time. lol As I said it's just little things. Still can't wait to be able to get him.

He should have been a deluxe character and come with A BACKPACK and a bunch of gear not road pig …..lot of disappointing figures , to much reuse and cutting corners coming out of the line lately! I get they have to reuse accessories and stuff but damn it’s few and far between now that we get some new stuff
@@SharkEyesToyView the colors and the kit. There is a 100% repaint in the wave with the Bat. They might have been able to at least include a backpack. And I’m not wild about the head
You make a very salient point about the IG BAT. Surely the money they save on that army builder (which of course people are going to buy multiples off) could justify the inclusion of a newly sculpted backpack and SMG for such an iconic character. This is retro Stalker all over again.
Those two "axes" he comes with are actually ice climbing axes. He shouldn't even be carrying those since he's not in cold weather gear and if he is just rock climbing. The pouch on his backside is for chalk for rock climbing.

He should have been a deluxe character and come with A BACKPACK and a bunch of gear not road pig …..lot of disappointing figures , to much reuse and cutting corners coming out of the line lately! I get they have to reuse accessories and stuff but damn it’s few and far between now that we get some new stuff
Just feel like his head is a bit big
Yep! His melon definitely is a tad larger than it probably should have been.
His face is horrible but with the goggles and hat he looks ok
Yeah it's not Falcon level horrible, but thankfully both items aid in somewhat masking it.
Definitely not feeling this one.
Where does it fall short for you?
Oh dear. Their inclusion is another example of Hasbro dropping the ball then.
