The problem with articles like this isn't the fact that they've installed solar panels. The problem is that they act like it's some sort of environmental good. This is just a company upgrading it's facilities in order to reduce their energy costs. Great work GeeDubs. You get a pat on the back.
By using solar panels in England they took them away from some place that actually has the sun. So it's probably a net negative for the environment. So they just took revenue from the power company for extra profits they WON'T pass on to the customers.

@@thomasmann9727 Simple, GW cannot do that, it's impossible for them following an investment as large as building a new factory to sell their products cheaper, as to justify the new factory to their investors, they'd need a larger Return On Investment. The thing they cannot do if they lower the prices.

What they did to my local GW is a crime. It was the largest GW in the USA, full on plastic tables including an awesome ocean one and a city fight table... now, 90% of the tables are the crappy cardboard maps they make.
I liked that you had to keep adding the caveat that the heads are good for Ultramarines because we don't actually have any good heads of our own. To me, the command upgrade has some value as a tactical squad upgrade set. I like the heads and gladius, and I really want a few of the vexilla to use in my squads instead of the backpack ones. Although, It kind of proves your point that it's inadequate for a command squad if that's the level of bling I expect in a tactical squad. I agree with the principle of your argument that converting is the spirit of 30k, though maybe not on the extent the average hobbyist will go to. Rather than a poll, maybe this is a good segue back to that conversion review video you were going to do. You can show, visually, the high and low end of the effort people put into their projects compared to what GW shows in their articles.
If GW built a factory in the U.S. we would put the U.K. to shame. We already have a warehouse. And our TOW problem is books everyone had a fantasy army already.
I miss when I ran a GW store... We had mad events, VIP and loads of fun stuff. I'd buy my own store but these days you need bulk cash to start or go into debt.
Moving from commercial injection moulded products to 3D printing is like jumping from Windows or Mac to Linux: it's a scary jump but once it's done there's no going back, whoever did it will push others to do it, and every day that leap becomes smaller for those who haven't done it.
I thought you asked about groups and habits? Our lot are converting to HH from 40K as we simply don’t enjoy this edition. We’ve got lots of ‘standard kits’ and are fumbling about a bit. We’re not converting much yet as it’s so new to us. (About a dozen players). So it’s not a case of not loving HH. We’re just starting out really. It’s also as the HH is over. We’ve agreed to ‘lock it in time’ so we don’t have to bend to any agenda driven changes imposed by GW when they feel like it. And I don’t think we’re alone. I’ve heard horrific rumours they are working on a new HH version. Our lot hate the idea of HH being changed into one of their BS 3-4 year cycles. :(. Our main issue as new players is the lack of new releases. None of us really like resin, so feel shafted by GW. They promised everything in plastic, then are dragging their heels so they think we’ll be forced to buy their inflated cost weapon kits etc. but, printer is just going brrrrrrrrrrr. Mate. Plastics are fine. Our issue is more with their lack of effort with the release. If you turned up to our event you'd be made to feel super welcome. Most of us even gift each other stuff we print to help build immersion

From my understanding, replacing and/or installing new zero emissions/efficient equipment in manufacturing plants in Euro/UK grants the company handsome government subsidies. This helps offset the cost of installing new, expensive, zero emission equipment. My experience is over a decade in manufacturing from BIW, paint lines, and final fit in the global automotive industry. But I assume the government subsides go to any large manufacturing plants that qualify.
A lot of newer players think the legion specific stuff is 'goofy' so are probably happy with the generic command stuff. If you are coming from 40k, more 'roman' looking marines in different armour is exotic enough.
It's been winter with pollen here for the last few months. Meant to be a heat wave next year. My guess is with them expanding into more facilities for production every penny saved over the next decade + continued price rises will help them
The fact that you don't even need a 3D printer to make your own (a controversial opinion, I know!), but instead, hand cast a copy of every weapon in your bits box, using old-fashioned casting methods. Could've cut out GW years ago using techniques like that...
What I hate the most about that command squad set is that it has superseded the melee weapons release, which seemingly has been delayed for "reasons" compared to the roadmap. I can find a lot more use for a good melee weapons set than for a command squad set. Realistically, I'd probably at most will get one command squad set but, depending on the contents of the melee weapon set, I might want to get multiple of those, especially if it's an alternative to the godawful Despoiler weapons set. I mean, who the heck thought 25€ to equip 5 guys with basic melee weapons was a reasonable product? You can almost get an entire assault squad box for the price of 10 chainsword + bolt pistol bits in resin. What were they smoking that day?
Do you guys think it's possible for GW to effectively go bust within the next 30 years if the 3d printing trend you're talking about continues?? For me, honestly, there is a significant chance that GW pushes me out of the hobby when they inevitably drop HH 3.0. I already detest the ugly fucking Nuscale 2.0 plastic marines. If they drop what's remaining of their resin range, Im going to have to go to the printers to get my boys.
Ball is in our court mate. Once you have a community it's in our hands. We have 2nd Ed 40k groups. 7th Ed fantasy groups. The more you nurture the community the better it gets.

30 years is a longtime. And i guess that if they go out its not because of 3d printing its more because of the lack of interest in wargaming at all. As well as the death of the warhammer brand to draw in customers. 3d printers will not be the end. The book industry is alive and well even though ebooks and printers are available.
The IP is too valuable for it to ever be a total bust -- like Marvel and DC which are essentially just IP holding companies for larger media conglomerates.
Thanks for the update. I've been slowly building and collecting for a few years now. Still haven't seen a great release that I had to buy. Any box over 100 USD is not a responsible purchase for me. Every time I think GW is going to do something cool they fall flat on their own face with some stupid included box set. I can't help but assume the next box set be stuffed with bad choices and one thing people want. They just can't help themselves.
I agree with you that something is probably coming in regards to Iron Warriors and Salamanders. If I had to guess, maybe they're doing another age of darkness style box with those two legion's at the forefront. I just hope they don't chose to give the characters the Ahriman treatment cause that would suck.
The yellow gammon seems to think it's going to be plastic mark 2s in some kind of age of darkness style box. Would not be mad about it. Wonder if it will have new rules in it if it's an AoD replacement.

That building faces southeast and the panels are on sides facing the same direction, bar the one facing southwest. GW factory 2 roof is southwest and northeast facing. GW Eurohub is northwest and Southeast facing. Factory 3 is going in the space between factory 2 and the truck depot they took over as it looks like GW is trying to do their own logistics in the UK going by the number of branded curtain-side trailers captured on google maps overhead view.
I wish the helmets were something other than the new mark 2 wish they had made them mark 4, I will probably supplement my jet bike sergeants with them because I like the idea of that crest being on the biker. Maybe a tank commander helmet, definitely not for command squads tho. My big hang up with the kit is more the weapons. I don't need more power swords. I get two power swords in every box of marines, I need fancy weapons, I need lots of pistols, I need axes, I need charnables etc.

43:54 I’ll own up to the fact that I do keep a lot of my models stock as a rock and just make them mine with the paint job 😋 Although that is largely because I just can’t justify the price of buying a whole different box for the bits I want (and I am also not particularly good at conversions but that could probably be rectified with practice). For instance chain axes… I am not paying $50 for 5 chain axes, or hundreds of dollars on other kits that I can steal them from when I need 30 of them for my assault marines! Same thing for my termies thunder hammers… $50 for 3?!? Don’t get me wrong, I really do want to do some cool conversations and do try if I have bits in my bits box. If GW sold bits at a reasonable price again, I absolutely would converting everything and anything 🤗 P.s. I know some people are just gonna say “just get a 3D printer, problem solved” and you are right, but I just don’t have the time it would take me to learn how to use it and, more importantly, to get consistently good parts.
For me, GW is strictly a rules and lore company. All of the above factors finally pushed me to get a 3D printer and I am enjoying truly building my own army. Printing 1000 pts of a Krieg army will pay for the printer, too. I feel sorry for my FLGS that is stuck dealing with GW, Disney and WOTC.
It really feels like a company holding an IP hostage. Like, the books, the rules, the models get progressively worse and worse, but don't you dare make something actually good using this IP, they will sue you if people actually like it.
40 brand new Mark 2 marines a new tank in plastic, maybe we get the deredeo with the lascannon. And the other half of the box is a single spicy rocket.
All their releases just feel so disjointed. The initial release was Fists vs SoH in Mk VI which is basically only in the heresy at the siege, but it wasn't marketed like that at all and instead retconned Mk VI everywhere. Then they released another Fists vs SoH expansion that included "inductii" who were actually legion specific units and not inductii at all. Now we're getting a "biggest battle of the heresy where Blood Angels starred" expansion that contains shattered legions rules. It makes no sense and clearly whoever is in charge either knows nothing about the heresy and is just chucking whatever into it, or they're so pressed for content and time they're just including whatever ideas they do have and hoping nobody notices marketing's promises aren't being met.

I am working on a solar farm currently. Life span of panels here in the US for industrial is 30ish years max

Can you imagine Ai making stl files connected to your 3d printer, that prints the file then cleans your model and cures it that'd be wild.

It's a remake I did of just a few lines of Atlantean Sword. It's not tonally perfect as it's computer-created vs the richness of the original!
