  • Dinosaur Ridge (dinoridge.org/), is part of the Morrison-Golden Fossil Areas National Natural Landmark located just east of Red Rocks and west of Lakewood (near Denver). This flight took off from the main visitor center near West Alameda Pkwy and CO-470. I flew south along the south face of the North Dinosaur Park ridge, and interspersed some stills I took while on the guided bus tour. These include shots of the top dinosaur tracksite in North America (which was discovered in 1937 during the construction of West Alameda Parkway) and shoreline ripples caused by the Early Cretaceous sea present here at that time (BEFORE the Rockies were formed).
The flight continues south along the top of the ridge to just north of Morrison, then back north almost to I-70 (Golden, CO is just north of I-70). Part 2 covers the north face of the ridge.
