It may be wide open area around the road in all directions but people could be anywhere just remember when the police ambush them with the girl there's people somewhere in the open area that kick off the ambush with RPGs one even drives away & later finds the girl only to be shot by Alejandro. So you in reality couldn't be sure or risk someone else being some in that vastness getting away seeing helicopters attack the cars & then people getting out & finishing it. Those two cars could have been on their way to meet someone in that vastness you don't know Graver wouldn't know & thus would be taking a huge risk using copters especially in broad daylight.

@@slappy8941 I think the script with her in it was great, she adds to the spectrum of human behaviour if you know what I mean... without her it would just be pure action movie where every character is a soldier with soldier mindset and soldier skills and soldier behaviour, with her in it, you get to see young bright FBI agent Kate Macer leading FBI HRT team to raid a certain house, where they discover some f*cked up horror scene, when being asked if she wants to catch those responsible she says yes and suddenly she's being used by the CIA as a operation's cover in case someone ask questions afterwards meanwhile CIA is not interested in catching the bad guys at all, what they want is to help Colombia's cartel to regain worldwide domination in drug business, so they are eliminating rival cartel in Mexico. Matt was the one who "really just added unnecessary complication for no particular reason." I'm pretty sure if he would've told her that he is CIA and x y is their actual objective, she would agree (maybe not Alejandro's cold blooded revenge, but the bigger picture is reasonable enough) It's the lies,deception and the dark cloud she was in that made it complicated.
