Belt was loose and very squeaky when cold, turns out part of the adjuster was broken.

Thanks so much! I pulled my m102 apart a year ago... Couldn't work out where the damper was anchored. Great video.. thanks again.
Glad to be of help :-)
Very informative video. Thanks for uploading it.
I have the same type of tensioner on my 190e 1987 2 Ltre petrol engine.
Whilst adjusting the belt, the tensioner eye broke off , just as in your video.
It is a rubbish design, there is not enough metal around the eye area to stand the stress of the rod pulling upwards.
I was tempted to weld it, as you did in the video, but I decided to fit a new unit, as it is a pig of a job to change this tensioner.
Great belt tensioner repair.
Very well put together video. Helped me replace mine thanks
I'm so glad!!! :-)
Great video, helped me a lot!
Adjusting mine, the dial will at most go to middle position, is my tensioner bad?
Have you loosened the main bolt first? If you did, then that could mean the rubber bushing in the tensioner is torn and when you tighten the adjuster, the shaft just rotates in the bushing instead of rotating the whole tensioner arm. Definitely check that bushing.
@@nakibenz5258 yup I did loosen the large bolt prior to adjustment. I just heard the car asking for money 😂
Hi the belt tensioner its different on Mercedes 2.5 diesel?
Yes, unfortunately it's different. This one fits only M102 petrol engines
@@nakibenz5258 thanks you
