You hit the nail on the head. I'd sum up our issues as an intersectionality of four things: illiteracy, religion, poverty, and being an African. Most people lack common sense, and this lack of common sense is exacerbated by religion and poverty. On top of that, many believe we as Africans are less humans that Whites or Asians. These issues are the reason we will litter everywhere, follow religion so hard, hate our culture, and idolize everyone else. I have taught myself to be more empathetic with everyone else. I know they don't know any better, and there's very little I can do to change them. But gradually, things will change. Though don't expect to see Africa that rivals Europe any time soon. Change is slow, but things will eventually change. Even Europe was like this at some point in history. What we're doing to change the situation today will be enjoyed by Kenyans in the 2100s onwards 🙂🙂

Stemy Yelsha, just stumbled on your channel and I subscribed. Now, I agree with you about the spitting around and trust me, it's so disgusting. The authorities keep saying they have laid down laws to safeguard the same but you still see people doing it 🤔 but again, I believe it starts with an individual! About the dust and trashing, I guess it boils down to cleanliness in general. When NMS was in charge of cleaning the city especially the CBD, the city was very clean, you could hardly see trash around. The pavements have been invaded by vendors everywhere, there's no space for pedestrians to walk and it seems like business as usual. After they are done with selling their wares, they leave the trash behind. I believe keeping the city clean is doable if the laid down laws/rules would be followed without expecting anyone to supervise you.
As someone unfamiliar with Nairobi and Kenya your honest description of things in Kenya gives me every reason not to come there from Canada! EXCEPT maybe for Westlands!

A very good review. The recent Gen Z protests and call for action has shown how people can demand and get change, unbound by outdated beliefs. There is no justice when Churches or buses are disturbing the peace just because they can. Youths should start taking leadership positions right from "Nyumba Kumi" leader to the presidency, so that they can bring some commonsense changes and discipline to some of these outdated and reckless behaviors that have no respect to personal rights. Just because it's a church doesn't give anyone a right to blow up the music or use loudspeakers paying little regard to your neighbors and even in the middle of the night or at the break of dawn.
Great video and great observation. It’s best when a native tells their own because if someone else tells them they will feel it’s a bias. I could comment on all your points but I will just speak on a few. The dust there needs an explanation from a geologist or someone very good in dust science. I couldn’t understand where all the dust came from when I see so much greenery. Then the white worshipping it’s crazy. Did everyone there not know of colonialism or as you said the assumption that all muzungus have money. False. Anyways you made solid points and keen observations and other honest natives there will share your sentiments. And btw you are beautiful and very articulate. I've come across you today and you're spot on. - I was waiting to hear you talk about the widespread habit of conning people money and the omba omba culture that has been normalized. - One reason it's dusty is because things are never done to completion. Roads are built but the sides/ pavements aren't tarmacked. They're left bare with open trenches. Road engineers seem not to know that a road is not complete until the sides are paved and trenches covered. Foot paths too and anywhere people are to walk on are not paved. That's one of the reasons it's dusty even in densely populated areas yet there are no farms nearby.
