I love this woman ❤😊
"Anabel" most beautiful song I have ever heard
she's a gift to us all
This was just an incredible performance.....
if anyone was wondering, a different version of "motown" is on youtube as "icing burns". it was a bonus track on parts of speech but it isn't on streaming
dessa is absolutely amazing... and Aby Wolf enhances every song... I love watching these 2 queens... more!
Wolf is Abby Wambach of ⚽️ USWNT.
Dessa is the maternal GGD of India's first prime minister , Jawarlal Nehru.
Individually, they are very good. Together, they are amazing. Their voices weave together so well. It's not just the many years they've performed together, since I saw them sing together shortly after they first started, and even at that early stage, their collaboration was something incredibly special.
very well-worth seeing mix of live music and interview.
Love to Dessa and her crew, friends and family
Mineshaft II literally gave me serious chills
I've listened to it thousands of times, and it still gives me chills almost every time. She's a master of metaphor, and I think that Mineshaft II has, hand-down, her most powerful metaphor. It's still my favorite Dessa song, which is saying a lot.
This version of Dixons Girl is so good
Amazing
Refreshing and enjoyable original.
More rock/pop/rap music should have a string bass, even if they aren't as good Sean McPherson, he really rocked Dixon's Girl. So much other great music has a string bass. Philosopher Kings' debut album, BNL's Lovers in a Dangerous Time, the Dead South, etc. I wish it had been one of the instruments I had learned how to play. If I were starting a rock band, string bass would be the first instrument I'd recruit...
I detested rap and hip hop until seeing this program. Dessa has an intellectual style so original! When this is combined with her crystal clear enunciation, senseability, and mixed musical genres, perfection results.
Try out the rest of doomtree, astronautilus, saul williams, 13&god, Subtle, Open Mike Eagle, and maybe Scroobius pip, if you are digging this. There alot of other hip-hop I'd suggest, but I'd say all those artists have atleast a thing or 2 in common with dessa, whether its a strong sense of melody, a unique but very approachable vibe, or just great, distinctive lyrical styles. For most of them I'd suggest trying a few songs from different albums before you write them off, because alot of these artists have wildly varying styles.
@@MantasticHams saul williams, indeed my friend, a live version of coded language sucked me into his world years ago, just like dessa he's a poet.
I detest Strand .
They calls me Lester the detester.
By the way ......
I also detest the misogyny , glorification of criminality , and despicable predisposition toward violence of rap .
"I want to take risks. I feel like if I'm never failing I'm not...I'm insufficiently brave"
I've never related to or enjoyed hip hop, but this is just great, whatever you want to call it.
Jazz Addict :
We callin' Dessa's music 🎶 JAZZZ.
She workin' the styles in tradition with Billie Holliday , Ella Fitzgerald , Louis Armstrong , and Edward Kennedy Ellington.
She never do a song the same way over and over.
That is Rule #1 of JAZZZ .
perfect....I have no words.
I just found out about Dessa. OMG she is totally awesome!
Have you read her new book?
I think 'Annabelle' just made me grapple with some real shit and I don't even know what to say....
Great work
Dustin Ortiz
Massimo Marinelli yep that's my name

You know, when I first heard it, I thought it was "he passed the picture back to me" which changes the meaning pretty drastically. Even though the lyrics on-line said "pitcher," I wasn't sure, since they are hardly reliable, so until seeing this, I tried to listen carefully and went back and forth. But this would be definitive. Bummer, I think I liked the cynicism of "picture" better...
Great artist, though, and the interviews are very interesting. Thanks!
But passing a pitcher of beer outweighs staring at old photographs any day in my book. And how many times would she want a picture passed BACK to her of some dude's chick?
She's m-fing DESSA.
@@bijanguivehchi6677 If the word were "picture," it'd be a one-time pass, and not a matter of spending time staring at old photographs, but rather he is just showing her what his gf looks like as an answer to the question. In that take, he's saying that the relationship is strained, but she's incredibly attractive, so he's loathe to give up the relationship. I don't think there are many guys on the planet who haven't at least once been tempted to date (or continue dating) someone that they knew was wrong for them, but they were incredibly physically attracted to. If it's "picture," it's all about him, not the narrator. If it's "pitcher," then yes, it's about what the narrator wants (more beer, which I agree is more fun than looking at pictures). Of course it's M-F Dessa, she's awesome. I've seen her live so many times I've lost count, more than any other artist. Definitely one of my favorite artists (although at least one factor in seeing her so many times is how accessible she is, especially if you live in MN, where she does free concerts often). But "picture" still fits with her being M-F Dessa, it'd be a subtle metaphor, of which she is the master, about the push and pull of relationships, and how attraction can overwhelm our rational choices, in line with the general message of "Matches to Paper Dolls," with the added commentary about the focus on appearance in society, especially when it comes to how men view women...

the hole in the ozone, was not freon, it was Upper stratosphear Nuke , called a sky burst.
Mankwe Ndosi is rather irritating...and nowhere near as talented as Dessa.
