  • Ayana Ife became a star as the runner-up of Project Runway’s 16th season - and it wasn’t easy. Originally from a small tight-knit Muslim community in upstate New York, Ayana became the first modest fashion designer on the show, bringing Muslim fashion to American televisions and New York Fashion Week.

Many brides wear vales, many of which cover the head. So in her beautiful and dramatic finale bride hijab look, it does not look like a traditional hijab at all, the way she incorporated the vale and shaped the hijab overall.

OMG u have no idea how much u just inspired me. I can relate to u in so many ways almost share the same story. Grew up poor, lived and still living a miserable life in Saudi Arabia I'm stuck in can't leave and I found a comfort in sewing. I know why u got so emotional when u were talking about sewing, it really is a joy to make something and for it to turn out beautiful and knowing that u made that! I'm American and as long as the woman is not drawing attention to herself then she can wear any color. However the garments must fill the guidelines of covering according to Islam. In no way should a muslim woman beautify her garments to call her to be noticed that defeats the purpose of hijab, rather you get as beautiful as you want under you hijab like most of the women who wear all black do overseas. But whatever.

@@rebeccafrost5542 Hello dear, I live in a moslem majority country (but not an islam country). So I know, not all moslem girl wear black abaya. Most moslem girls who wear hijab, wear variety of design of colorful islamic modesty clothing, fashionista! Well, I'm one of them I wore modest clothing like this lady in the video 😆 Including some of them wear abaya, even black abaya with mouth covering too. Maybe, the stereotype make it looks bad. But I have a friend who wear black abaya and mouth covering, she's sweet and kind 😊 It's saddening about the stereotype of black abaya, but I know why it's exist too :".
I 10000% agree, the colors that exists today are so beautiful so why not use all that colors in our clothing? The creator made them all! Agree with that, for me my fav color is blue 🌊
However, still, I just want people to know that many sweet girls in black abaya, not just the stereotype people have in their mind. Honestly, the best thing is just let the woman wear what they want... Have nice day 😊

Wearing little clothing is not freedom. Freedom is having the choice to wear whatever you want, yes even a headscarf. That is freedom! Nothing more ignorant then telling someone what they can’t wear. Then gaslighting them by telling them it’s because that would mean they are oppressing themselves, it doesn’t even make sense. Stop being toxic.

In islam a woman can wear whatever she wants it just has to be modest, it can't resemble mens clothing it can't be revealing and it can't replicate the disbelievers. Other than that everything is perfectly fine. Those people saying go back to your country, need to know many muslims do live and are born in North America or Europe! And a Burka is something the minority of Muslim women wear!

Even some of her design didn't show the true islam modesty..but yes..she done something and maybe lots of Christian or other religion people buy her clothes because of it was modest enough for other religion...and maybe those who wear it will change their mind to know more about islam...who knows..keep up the good work ayana...

The sounds of ignorance can be drowned by the loudness of love and acceptance, you are a beautiful human being, fly, spread your wings and fly, as high and as far as you wish.

I was obsessed with project runway when I was younger, and though there wasn’t as much variety even 7 years ago, I’m so happy children can now grow up and be inspired by seeing themselves represented in the fashion industry.
