something important and wonderful about the Rosa Pomar Retrosaria yarns is that almost all of them are from indigenous portuguese sheep breeds! Pomar has been working hard to save some of these breeds from extinction (which include the original merino wool breed!) so definitely worth checking out more if you liked those skeins 🌟
This is why I try to have patterns picked out if I know I'm going to go yarn shopping and may find some spectacular unique hanks - then I know what weight, material, and amount I need and I can sleep peacefully knowing that I have enough to make a beautiful thing that I will enjoy! 😊 Only partway through the video -- very much looking forward to seeing the rest of the haul!
Tiffany next time you’re in Paris you HAVE to go to Les petits points parisiens!!! The owner dyes her own yarn (they’re to die for) and has other brands too such as filcolana knitting for olive Istex lopi or fonty which is a great French yarn brand!
dane here, and i feel so humbled to know our yarn brands are worth the hype haha :D also really put in place kind of, to realize how lucky i am to have all of the brands you mentioned so close to my home. thank you for the reminder to stay grateful for that! in regards to syslerigets yarn, since it's single ply, you might consider knitting a piece back and forth, as the stitches will tilt/skew if you knit in the round, which might make for an anticlimactic finished item, especially considering the price of your beautiful skein :) also a thought: you could make a stranded piece and use whichever yarn you have in your stash that you love, to make a memento sweater or something :) or save a tiny bits of them for a scrap blanket like the northeasterly maybe? or a lærke bagger piece? no matter what they end up being used for, your whole haul is really gorgeous and i can't wait to see what you come up with for them! :) edit: try to check out petite knits marble sweater for the lang cloud. can't remember how much is used for it, but there was a person in DK who made one using it, and it ended up going king of viral looked really pretty!
I’m basically knitting like 400 mini scarves with all my fun single skeins lol. I always wear neutrals and black for work so it’s nice to have a fun n cozy accessory
OMG. Tiffany. I’m getting ready for my first night back at work post partum and I’m so nervous, this video is exactly what I needed 🥹 thank you. Can’t wait to enjoy seeing all the gorgeous acquisitions!
The Barbara Shawl by Gregoria Fibers comes in 2 sizes and the small size uses only 2 balls of the Filcolana Pernilla! It's a cute little neck scarf and I'm sure you could adjust the pattern to use up all 3 balls!
the english pattern of the un-told basic tank just came out and im currently knitting it! seems like a relatively easy one and it was exactly what i was looking for :) happy to have you back
Oooo I grabbed a skein of Regia the other day at my lys. The owner was kind of “… one skein will only give you one sock” 🤓 but one skein is a pair for a toddler
"There is so much Lang in Europe" - OMG yes there is! It's practically all my LYS has, and it makes me crave -any- other brand of yarn (it doesn't help that their yarn, I'm sorry to say, is not the best in their price range. F.i. their sock yarn is quite thin.) And okay, the LYS has a small corner of Scheepjes. As they should, the town where that brand originates is one town over ffs, but they get just a small corner. So I totally had to sigh when you said that we have so much Lang yarns here in Europe lol
OMG You went to Ghent?? It's so sad you didn't have any time there! Wolhuis Wolder in Ghent is such a great yarnstore! She has so many great brand and hanks. Also really sad I didn't catch you walking around.
My sister was just in London for the Beyoncé concert. I tried to talk her into going to those stores but she didn’t have time. I guess that means I just have to go myself one day! 😂
"does my future baby deserve this nice yarn?" lol The baby hat I knit saw a lot of use but everything below the mouth gets puke on it and changed pretty often. Next time I'm only knitting hats with animal ears or silly hair.
The store in Vienna you mean is "Wolle Wien" (not wolle wein, that would mean wool and wine). It´s in the prettiest building but unfortunately not in my price class :')
Oh and Vienna actually has a lot of yarn stores. I think so far I know most of them (at least 10) and each one has specific yarns and different price points. There´s a store I prefer for needles, one for socks, one for Scandinavian yarns, hand dyed, fancy ones etc. God I wish I had known, I could´ve provided you with such a good list!
As a Vienna local I'm cracking up at your pronounciation of WolleWien, ist not wool-en-wine, it's more like wolle ween, the ie is just pronounced as ee :)
