So crazy to think how well SOI has done these past few years. I remember going to Ben’s apartment and hearing hollow prophet before it was released, being at the first SOI show in hartford, his previous band In Depths And Tides playing at a venue I used to run and talking about his sick halo tat. I am a native russian speaker myself, so when I listen to him talk I can hear him literally translating russian sentences into english words, thus making his use of english phrasing/grammar come off as an afterthought. I just think it'd be a dull and awkward video at best. Props to him for getting better over last year though.

Pretty wild that Ben isn't very happy with his Reclaimer performance. I will say that he sounds way more clean, especially in his lows, on Melancholy and onward, much more clear and refined, but Reclaimer is still one of my favorite albums ever and it cemented Ben as my favorite extreme metal vocalist.
I would tend to agree with him that the tones of his vocals have gotten better over the years, which is pretty usually for extreme metal vocalists, but to hear him pulling stunts like he did on Reclaimer (even just a little bit) with his new tone and confidence would be so fucking sick
I adore reclaimer, but I immediately noticed how much more clear his voice was on Melancholy. He's so good I didn't realized he was being hindered at all. Amazing.
he's said that about Primordial too which is mind-boggling, personally Primordial and Reclaimer are my favorite albums by them and both perfect in their own right. His vocals were also much more diverse then.
"It wasn't really a conscious thing, it just sounded right". And that, kids, is what a true musician is and should be. That's why Shadow of Intent's material is so fucking good compared to others in the scene

At 21:18 it’s like the screams cannibal corps dose. It’s the same area of the throat we would use for lows. But as u project the scream it gos higher into the top like where yours hits. It’s used mostly in death metal. A lot of old Death metal won’t use “witch screams” they use a lower tone.

At 21:18 it’s like the screams cannibal corps dose. It’s the same area of the throat we would use for lows. But as u project the scream it gos higher into the top like where yours hits. It’s used mostly in death metal. A lot of old Death metal won’t use “witch screams” they use a lower tone.
