i have seen coffee in a box befor, but i've never thought to repurpose the bag inside, it's a great idea, expecially in a survival situation where your having to boil water to make potable cause. you can pour it off while still hot and not mess the bag up, genius! thanks Larry, now im going to get me a few, 👍
Ha!! You just see your eyes light up when you say how you waited til after the office party was over and you snagged a couple of them lol, so awesome. Great share by you and Brian Manning. Someone just found their luxury / extra item for the next season of ALONE lol! Have a good week man
+Barry Dutton Thanks Barry you too. My eyes lit up cause the lady looked at me like I was going to rob the place. She was a trip, I edited out my story about her. lol
I've also seen condiments come in bags like that too for fast food chains. They would most likely give their empty ones away. I hope that info may help someone. Thanks for sharing. God bless and stay safe.
I got this awhile back, and they gave me the cups lids, creamer, sugar, the bag and the box all for $2.50......everything but the coffeee, also saw this on brians site........works great
There is a similar type bag that is used for soda fountains. The are heavy duty plastic, but are 3 gallon. It is rough getting the left over syrup out. They also make a handy air pillow.
Yup. I'm #2 following Brian, so you are #3. this should go viral for preppies and bushies. Just went into my Starbucks (asked politely, and I am a good client) and got 2 empty boxes and bags. Put 1 or 2 in ruck for water, or bring along your own tea/coffee crystals, pour in your campfire hot water, and you have an entire base camp of 1 gallon hot drink on the trail. Yup. Good deal. And duct tape does stick to mylar for making a more secure container skin.
Cool repurposed concept! I was thinking of Grierwolf when I watched your concept. He had some kind of a clothe bag he used for filtering pond water with a tie off. That bag would be perfect to place your bladder in for travel...just thinking. Would open up some combination usage in the bush!
Great improvision Larry, I enjoyed the video. That would work unbelievable at a large gathering of friends on a hike, hunting or camping. You could boil up a gallon of coffee and pour it in there and it would stay hot for quite a while. Especially during the Winter months, maybe mix some bouillon cubes & hot water in there and have chicken broth on tap all day - amazing find Larry, thanks a lot.
That is a cool idea, did not know about those. This is much like the Platypus Play Bottle (you can find them in Amazon). They are made out of plastic, strong and can be rolled up to a very small size when empty. Thanks for the video.
+TraditionalBlackPowder Yes, like a platypus bladder as well if you wanted to go all in and modify it. I think its a little flimsy for that, but you could I suppose.
Mylar is also good for reflecting heat onto you, whether reflecting fire heat from above or your core body heat from beneath, so that bag, even though small, has extra uses when camping. You can also buy larger pieces of Mylar. As you know, it is very lightweight.
it would be neat to thread a camelback hose through a spare lid to fit one of those so a person wouldn't have to babysit a water filtration cycle. It's not enough of a seal to use it in a pack like that, but dripping a few drops in camp would not be a problem.
great vid larry! its funny i have actually used a (box of wine bag) for this. purpose they are a lttle flimsy but i just maliciously layered it with strong duct tape and it worked for me for about 4 desert hunting trips (mis summer) and it actually kept my water a little cooler for some reason....i am curious to see how much better the coffee bag works with a layer of gorilla tape.
+desert reaper My mom has reused the wine bags as well. I just thought these coffee bags had a better cap on them. No matter the wine ones work good too!
you can also get them out of boxed wine too ans the best way to clean them is i use dental cleaner the tabs that you use for fake choppers lol my brain cant come up with the word i just got a new one clear from the hospital cafe it was from the creamer
Good Video Larry. . I liked the fact that you saw something that impressed you enough to want to pass it on, and still give credit where credit was due. By the way, I had never seen coffee in a box either LOL
Well I guess I have an excuse to order a box of coffee. My office just has the Kureggs that people use. But I have had those brought into past jobs. They aren't that expensive for what your getting.
+The Otter Outdoorsman I just had no idea. I guess you can get them empty as well. I just brew my own at home and take it to work. I only drink a couple of cups in the morning.
That's Brilliant...we always order Tim Hortons for the bush work...and it comes hot ,in a box...I am definitely gonna save these up from now on...thanks Larry for the tip ...awesome....Never throwing these out again.....By the way, we love, that you caught all that fish in the latest installment of Alone. Season 2 episode 4. Awesome stuff.
I recently came across about five of these and remembered your video from when you first published it. After some months have passed by, are these holding up sufficiently to still make them practical in use?
+Prepared Survivalist Something about using a condom for water just grosses me out for some reason. I like this thing way better, and your right its way tougher, plus it holds more.

+southjerseybushcraft Exactly what I was thinking. Adding the still hot water is ok in these bags, great for around camp. Thanks!
Great stuff Larry! I'm a big fan of repurposing items and/or making multiple use items. Great content!
+GekkTrekk Hiking and Bushcraft Thanks! When I saw this I just had to share it.

+Brian Spencer You bet Brian, thanks!
I've also seen condiments come in bags like that too for fast food chains. They would most likely give their empty ones away. I hope that info may help someone. Thanks for sharing. God bless and stay safe.
+Rich Schwartz Thanks Rich! I never worked or came into contact with the fast food ones, but that sounds pretty cool.

+Scouting Free You bet Marc! I just had to share it.
neat! Definitely something to think about.
+Rick Carter Something fun to try out anyways. Thanks!
Agreed, and I would have never thought of procuring or using something like this. Thanks for bring it to all our attentions Larry
25 years ago a friend of mine used his old boxed wine bladders as blow up camp pillows. So they're multifunction, too.
+Rick Groshong My mom uses them for bath pillows.
I got this awhile back, and they gave me the cups lids, creamer, sugar, the bag and the box all for $2.50......everything but the coffeee, also saw this on brians site........works great
+ben terwellen Pretty cool!

+Burke Feaster I never came into contact with those, but my mom has used the wine box bags for bath pillows. Thanks!

+Eat Carbs You bet. I just had to share what was shared with me.

+John Lord Nice! I might have to visit one of these coffee places one time to get some.

+john- waxerone Nice! I forgot about that bag Justin got, your right it would work good for this.
Who would have thought. Very cool. A box of coffee... and reuse the Mylar bags...
+Wheels gone Wild I know! Crazy what is out there.
Great improvision Larry, I enjoyed the video. That would work unbelievable at a large gathering of friends on a hike, hunting or camping. Especially during the Winter months, maybe mix some bouillon cubes & hot water in there and have chicken broth on tap all day - amazing find Larry, thanks a lot.
+Kevin's Adventures Great idea. I was thinking of just storing water around camp as well. Thanks!
That is a cool idea, did not know about those. This is much like the Platypus Play Bottle (you can find them in Amazon). They are made out of plastic, strong and can be rolled up to a very small size when empty. Thanks for the video.

I saw a deal on boxed wine bladders. My kid used to work in a donut shop, I know the creamer came in a bladder... Cool!
+Flatland Bushcrafters Nice! We throw away so much good stuff, its hard to keep track of it all.
Mylar is also good for reflecting heat onto you, whether reflecting fire heat from above or your core body heat from beneath, so that bag, even though small, has extra uses when camping. You can also buy larger pieces of Mylar. As you know, it is very lightweight.
+Roarke Suibhne I agree. Thanks!
Keep up the good work great videos Larry. Glad to see you are catching some fish.
+Redbeard Thanks! They tasted awesome!
Ketchup and condiments come in bags like that too. Some of them have a spout instead of a cap.
+Terry Schmidt Thats what another person said as well. Pretty cool!
heck yeah thats a great idea
+Survive Without :) I never even knew coffee came in a bag.
***** ya me either. lol. always something new
that is cool I seen it to on Brian's channel I've been looking to go to Dayton Oh to star bucks to try to get me one.Peace Pops Bushcraft
+Paul Henry It's a cool thing to play with for sure. I need to get me some more.
like it nice idea not sure if they do it in the uk? but if they do I'm getting one. cheers like it
+Simon Smith I'm not sure. I just barely found out about them.
it would be neat to thread a camelback hose through a spare lid to fit one of those so a person wouldn't have to babysit a water filtration cycle. It's not enough of a seal to use it in a pack like that, but dripping a few drops in camp would not be a problem.
+Darryl Machtmes I was thinking about using them in camp as well. I wouldn't trust it in a pack, but at camp like you said it would be useful.
great vid larry! its funny i have actually used a (box of wine bag) for this. purpose they are a lttle flimsy but i just maliciously layered it with strong duct tape and it worked for me for about 4 desert hunting trips (mis summer) and it actually kept my water a little cooler for some reason....i am curious to see how much better the coffee bag works with a layer of gorilla tape.
also im sure that coffee or lemon flavor water taste much better than cheap ass wine flavored water...lol
+desert reaper My mom has reused the wine bags as well. I just thought these coffee bags had a better cap on them. No matter the wine ones work good too!

+carla theisen Yes you can. My mom just told me she uses them for all sorts of stuff, including a pillow in the bath!

Good Video Larry. . I liked the fact that you saw something that impressed you enough to want to pass it on, and still give credit where credit was due. By the way, I had never seen coffee in a box either LOL
+Lee Ralph (Pathway to Self Reliance) Crazy stuff out there hugh? Thanks Lee!

+The Otter Outdoorsman I just had no idea. I guess you can get them empty as well. I just brew my own at home and take it to work. I only drink a couple of cups in the morning.
yeah, I either pick up a cup on my way, or brew it up at work/home

+Jeremiah Price Sure you could. Great idea! Just so long as those pesky mice don't figure out whats in it.
+Larry Roberts very true sir nice are ruff on supplies I try and keep my storage food pack up in the Rubbermaid containers after I pee package it
That's Brilliant...we always order Tim Hortons for the bush work...and it comes hot ,in a box...I am definitely gonna save these up from now on...thanks Larry for the tip ...awesome....Never throwing these out again.....By the way, we love, that you caught all that fish in the latest installment of Alone. +CMT Outdoors I know right?! Thanks!

www.amazon.com/dp/B00YSVODQ4?psc=1
+willy p00 They are a pretty cool idea for sure.
A box of Joe
+buzzsah Yes indeed!
I recently came across about five of these and remembered your video from when you first published it. After some months have passed by, are these holding up sufficiently to still make them practical in use?
great idea..i can put my scotch in it!!
+Bob Ahlberg Nice!
A lot stronger than a condom that's for sure.
+Prepared Survivalist Something about using a condom for water just grosses me out for some reason. I like this thing way better, and your right its way tougher, plus it holds more.
Larry Roberts
"...plus it holds more". Well depends on the condom, for example the ones I have to use would hold more.
