We feature the south end of the Ohio River in Cairo, Illinois where it meets the Mississippi River near Fort Defiance Park. The Highway 62 bridge that crosses the Mississippi River connects Illinois & Missouri. The highway 51 bridge that crosses the Ohio River connects Illinois & Kentucky. We also feature the contemporary Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau.

Beautiful video. I came in search to help my 8 year old granddaughter learn about the rivers they are studying in class. However, the Ohio river doesn't begin at the Mississippi River, as stated at :46, it ends there. It begins at the junction of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and ends in Cairo, Illinois, where it flows into the Mississippi River.
Yes you are right, I had realized that as soon as I posted it, the river flows down stream. I've also shot it at the beginning in Pittsburgh as well. Neat to know the video was used as a teaching tool.

Originally the Allegheny, the Ohio and what is now the lower Mississippi was the Ohio River. The Monongahela and the upper Mississippi were tributaries to the Ohio.

Oldtimers say its the Ohio river that goes to NOLA. The Mississippi ends at Cairo ILL. come bak in the spring when the rivers are high. It looks like one HUGE LAKE. the waves will spash across the hwy. And your only in ILL. for 1 mile. But its 5 miles wide in high water.
