"Ablaze" - 11x14” - Acrylic on Canvas -
This is the companion piece to “Crackle.” In that painting, I wanted to highlight the warmth and ambiance that a roaring fire can provide, but with this piece I wanted to showcase the darker side of fire. It was difficult getting the smoke right between the trees, but I hope I managed to portray the danger and threat inherent in such a scene.

This is pretty spot on. Beautiful....my dad was a firefighter and EMT and I've seen so many wildfires in my life this far.

Yes, that is what we may tell ourselves. But deep inside we know what really happened... The painting does indeed portray "the darker side of fire" by what it leaves to the imagination. Very well done.

- cadmium red deep
- dioxazine purple
- cadmium yellow medium
- titanium white
- ultramarine blue
The starting colors were a mix of dioxazine purple, cadmium yellow medium, and Cadmium red deep.
