Triple episode! Also very excited to see Wano stuff and get into cultural references, I've been really busy with midterms so I haven't commented as much as I would like to but looking forward to more content and engagement. I will say the scene that really sticks with me from the ending of WCI is Pudding using her powers to remove Sanji's memories of that kiss and crying, it's such a shocking parallel to the really over the top villain monologue we saw the first time she used it on Reiju and the manipulative/nasty implications that her power would usually have. Goes to show the extent to which that malicious characterization and her supposedly evil nature were forced upon her; especially considering that Big Mom likely mandates her children to eat devil fruits that benefit her and Pudding was in many ways groomed and trained to fit a sort of femme fatale/honeypot archetype. It hurts seeing her use it in a way that she thinks will benefit Sanji and make it easier for him to leave her behind, in a way that causes her that much pain. I'm still trying to sort out my thoughts on her motivations for doing that: I think Sanji would have wanted very much to keep them and go back to try and help her and it's less helpful and honest to him than she realizes, but she's doing it with good intentions and in a very selfless way that hurts her and lowers the stakes for him and his crew. I really hope they see each other and become real friends, I don't think they'd be the best couple necessarily but they've become very important to each other in a very short time and it's clearly the beginning of such a positive development for her.
07:00 This is possible because Charlotte Newshi (one of the decuplets) has eaten the Paramythia/Paramecia Gocha Gocha no Mi/the Pile Pile fruit (gocha=mix), which allows him to fuse together with his nine decuplet siblings into a giant lanky figure with an enlarged scythe. 10:00 I love how the arc started with a musical number and also ends with one; both twisted but certainly unique, exactly like LinLin herself. 11:36 LinLin is talking about her dream: a utopia where everyone "is seeing eye to eye". (We have already talked about how twisted her dream is, even though she herself doesn't realise it) 19:45 You were confused by seeing Wadatsumi with the Sun Pirates because the Cover Story where he joined them was not adapted by the anime (like most of them, unfortunately). I have talked about it before in a previous comment, when we saw them together, around the beginning of the arc. 20:47 Smoothie 's comment is reminiscent to the Fisher Tiger flashback and also what Arlong had said back in Arlong Park that the only advantage humans have over FishMen is numbers. Will the FishMen once again be defeated by the numbers of their enemies? 21:30 Another tough decision for Luffy as a captain. Water 7 (the Going Merry dying and his fight with Usopp because of it), Sabaody (ordering the crew to run away unable to protect them) and Post War (the 3D2Y) feel like years ago. (It *has* actually been years for those watching/reading weekly 😅)
33:00 This version of Soul Pocus (the song not the attack) is so solemn. 36:30 I love the way this reveal is portrayed. So fitting, and also heartbreaking 😢 (Adrian said everything, so I will refrain from saying anything more) 37:58 This whole scene with Brûlée and Katakuri is so good ❤ 38:58 Do you regret calling Brûlée "butt ugly" when you first saw her? Her face was slashed consequently ruining her life (deemed a complete invalid by her mother and forced to live in the MirrorWorld and the outskirts of Whole Cake Island deep in the Enchanted Woods), and it wasn't even her fault. 38:19 and 39:23 In these two scenes we see how kind and caring Brûlée is. That's why she's so loved by all of her siblings. 40:00 You cut it, but this little piece of dialogue may be important for way down the line (read: Final Saga) 42:40 Have you never watched a musical film or play before, Kais? 🤔 No one can hear the singing, not now and not in most of the previous scenes where musical numbers took place. It's done for dramatic effect, both the music and the lyrics (It does help to get a better understanding of what's happening, though. The same goes for the Openings and Endings of the anime, as I have already mentioned previously)
22:55 "I'll be waiting in the Land of Wano! Come at any cost!" This line has been a kind of meme through the community. Fans usually say it to new fans in crucial points on the newcomers' journey: when they take the plunge and start the series, when they enter the Grand Line, when Wano is first mentioned, after Post War; the timing varies. So this scene here is where the meme comes from. 23:00 Why are you surprised? 🤔 Wano is where they are headed, where the rest of the crew and our allies are waiting for them. Did you forget? 😂 25:45 Blackbeard was not originally part of the Worst Generation. But after what happened in the Paramount War, the media (read: Morgans (this guy!)) decided to add him to the "Worst Generation" since he too was making the world shake with his decisions and actions. Also, like Mugi mentioned, Zoro is also part of the Worst Generation. I don't know why Morgans didn't mention him here. 31:25 Such an emotional scene 😢 32:05 I feel that Carrot is not appreciated enough from the fans. What she's doing here is amazing: comforting Sanji while she herself is still hurting so much.
There are many people who complain that Sanji didn't shine enough because he didn't have any big fights, even though this was supposed to be his arc. But they are missing the point. Sanji may be one of the strongest fighters in the crew, but he's a cook above anything else. Personally, I absolutely love how in this arc Sanji managed to completely defeat both Vinsmoke Judge (the most notorious figure in the North Blue) and the Yonko Charlotte LinLin simply with his kindness. It's undeniable that Sanji came out the Whole Cake Island arc victorious: 1- He faced his trauma and started on the path of healing 2- He severed the ties to his toxic past 3- He inspired both Pudding and his brothers to be more self conscious and become better people 4- He improved as a cook with the challenge of replicating the wedding cake only by smell 5- He managed to reach LinLin's warped soul (It remains to be seen if/what kind of ramifications this may have to LinLin's character in the future). Sanji's back with the StrawHats, better than ever.
02:00 What do you mean? 🤔 We the audience *know* that there's no poison. It's just the Big Mom Pirates who don't know. 02:45 I love these small flashbacks! To Sanji it doesn't matter who Big Mom is or her intentions. Like the kind cook he has always been, the only thing it matters to him is to satisfy her expectations. And because of that, he really did manage to completely exceed LinLin's over the top expectations. 03:45 The gluttonous Yonko Charlotte LinLin was completely and utterly defeated by Sanji's culinary skills and kindness. 04:10 She won't because LinLin does not know that Sanji was the one who basically made the cake. 04:50 LinLin: "I know it from somewhere else" Most viewers, together with LinLin herself, think she reefers to the taste; meaning the Croquembouche made of semla she ate for her birthday when she turned 6. But in truth she really means the feeling of happiness. This was driven home by the sequence at 10:45 The joyful feeling of back then, Sanji was able to make her feel it again. His ultimate goal succeeded! LinLin has a joyful smile and cries from happiness 🥲
I know most of my fellow Kais Klan Grand Fleet members keep saying that next arc is Wano, but... it's not! 😅 I don't know if it's because they really can't wait for Kais to get to Wano (which is totally understandable!) or because they totally forgot about the Reverie arc (and the big bombs it drops) 🤔 So, yeah. Next arc is the Reverie, not Wano. As for the Whole Cake Island arc, what a great conclusion! And with a mild cliffhanger too (I remember being so anxious to know what happened to the Sun Pirates and Sanji's not-family! It took quite a while too). I'm looking forward to how you plan to proceed next, Kais 👀 PS: Apologies if anyone is offended due to my former statement 🙏 I just don't want Kais to misunderstand. I respect and appreciate all of you ❤
46:00 Is your question: "Is this a good time to start with the movies?" or "Which movies should I watch?" ?? 🤔 Actually, I think most of us kind of agreed in the majority of them (like movie 6 and everything from Strong World and after) 🤔 To be honest, if this wasn't a reaction channel, I would suggest you watch everything 😅 But I understand if that wouldn't be beneficial to you. So! Here is again my personal opinion: 1- Movie 4 "Dead End Adventure" 2- Movie 6 "Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island" 3- "OnePiece film: Strong World" (together with it's tie-ins! the Little East Blue filler arc: Episodes 426-429 (rewatch before the movie) and "OnePiece film: Strong World Episode 0" (after the movie). Both of them are prequels, but it's better to watch them like this imo) 4- "OnePiece film: Z" (rewatch it's tie-in the Z's Ambition filler arc: episodes 575-578 *before* the movie) 5- "OnePiece film: Gold" (rewatch the Silver Mine filler arc: episodes 747-750 and watch the "Heart of Gold" Special Episode, all before the movie) These are my suggestions for the place that you are now. They are all in chronological order. Since you are a Zoro fan, you can also watch Movie 5 "The Cursed Holy Sword" (it directly follows the events of Movie 4), but be warned that you may get disappointed (just like I did 😭) Lastly, there are 2 more movies but because you have yet to reach the point of their prequel tie-ins (episodes 895-896 and 1029-1030 respectively), I would suggest you watch them when you reach those points (like all of us did. It's okay to take a break from the canon material, that's what recaps are for in the anime 😁) I really think it would have been better if you put this question in the Community Tab again, since it may get lost here amidst all the comments.
If you want to do movies then do like a double dandadan episode upload then 1 movie then another double and you will be caught up with dandadan you will just have to wait for next week's upload
Wadatsumi is such a clutch
Luffy telling jimbei he is his captain now is so cold
The One piece movies give a retro kinda vibe, the first ones ofcourse .But Nostalgia hits hard❤

Idk why they didnt mention zoro as one of the worst generation im pretty sure he got mentioned in them before
