    Right. This is a long one. Rode Wireless GO was my goto wireless microphone, it's that simple. The Rode Wireless GO II is now my goto wireless microphone. This is no doubt the best possible purchase you could make if you're looking to invest in a wireless microphone system for filmmaking. No other system is so well polished, so well designed, this is it. I bought the Rode Wireless GO with my own money 2 years ago, now, Rode sent me the Wireless GO II, and I couldn't be happier. I love it. Thank You.

    Just got my Go II in the mail today and tried to install the software for windows it says can't install on a 64-bit system I have windows 8 on a laptop..
    There's no way I'm changing the operating system of my laptop.
    I can't believe the software designers' at Rode would do something this short-sighted~~~!!!
    A $300 microphone that you can't install the software to unless what you have a 32-bit operating system and/or the latest computer o.s.?
    If there's a walk around or they have a different version o.k.
    Otherwise, everybody needs to know this so they don't get stuck with just a microphone set that never connects to a computer.

    • @PhillipSkraba

    When i was buying the original rode wireless go, i looked somewhat a lot of reviews. And not one said the absolute truth that the windmuff totally s*it! I cannot get to my head what were they thinking at rode when they released the original go. Now i`m using it with a plastic band to hold the windmuff in place.. Enough ranting from me. Nice review Phillip like always!

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 роки тому +1

      The windmuff is the worst thing in the world, it was no doubt spawn like the orcs in LOTR, in the deepest pits of hell. I hate it. I love the Wireless GO original, just hate that damn fluffy piece of satan's ass. This though, this is another level, Rode really came rolling on fire. This thing will never fall off, I tried everything (except for twisting), and it stays on. Thanks Riku, if you feel like selling and upgrading, I totally recommend it!

      Yes, it was disappointing for me too, it was a lot of cash, but no doubt my favourite wireless mic ever. A classic. This is a new era for it, and I’m probably most of the time going to be using it solo like my original as I’m usually a one man band.

    When Rode GO 2 do not pairing: 1. Switch on the receiver. 2. Switch on the two microphones. 3, Press and hold the number two button "on the receiver" for three seconds until the Wifi icon starts flashing. 4. Then click button number two once and wait for the connection. 5. For the second microphone, repeat steps 3 and 4.

    Time markers would be great... Rode fan ok. Where do I skip to, to get some specs??
    Comparison with F2-BT coming up?
    - Quality presentation - substance isn't quite up to the same level in the early part.

      Yes, total Rode fan! I have 110% faith in their mics, never failed on me. I have a load of other mics, but I feel safe using theirs. F2-BT looks okay, but I prefer the form factor of the Rode.
      No tension, just me I guess, and the reason for the lengthy video is because I went deep, balls deep, so you wouldn't have to waste your time on the other 7,653,498,567 videos out there. This is basically all you need to know. Crack open a beer, feet up and get some Netflix on now 😂

      @@PhillipSkraba Thanks for the reply! Truth is, while there is overlap between F2 and Rode W Go, they have a different focus.
      I was quite pleased to see, that Rode integrated 32Bit Float! That's what I wanted to know in the first 3 seconds lol...
      Price wise, it also depends what you want to do with it.
      Could you tell me what you spent on the extras, beyond the basic 3 box package?
      Did you talk about time code at all? Because if you did, I missed it...

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 роки тому

      The extra 8 bits headroom really helps, clipping becomes a lost issue. Price wise, I think it's quite fair, I'm sure it'll drop a little soon. The accessories, 2 Magclips GO's, 2 Interview GO's, 2 Lav GO's, a basic set up for dual interviews, maybe another $200 for that. No, I didn't mention time code, I always clapper board my hands to sync, too little time, too much to do. The last time I personally used time code was in 2007 on a Red camera 🙈

    • @Pharesm
      @Pharesm 3 роки тому

      @@PhillipSkraba I just watched Curtis Judd's video on the Rode Pod W Go, and its apparently 32 Bit, but NOT 32 Bit Float - it can still clip - which he tested.
      I still think that set is a good idea - maybe Rode hasn't worked out the bugs yet, or if its designed without float, I'll definitely stick to the F2. Once 32Bit Float, always 32Bit Float...
      As for time code, its pretty nice, to keep your video and audio synced, without having to split tracks and manually aligning them with your footage...

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 роки тому

      I think Rode still is polishing some parts of the system, so I’m sure they’ll get the kinks out, I hope that goes for the 32bit float too as that would come in handy if someone really can’t adjust their gain, in the meantime it would be advisable to have a safety channel rolling if you’re in a situation where the audio could get hot. Yes, I agree with you on the time code, especially on larger projects.

    What use will you have for the wireless go 1? I am going to purchase the wireless go 2, for cases where I have 2 subjects. I was planning on selling my wireless go 1 since I didn’t see a need to hold onto it - what am I missing?

      I'm a gear hoarder. I think they make shows about people like me. I also like having back-ups just in case I'm in dire need. If you're not a gear hoarder, sure, you can sell the Rode Wireless Go original.

    How easy is it to use for Android or PC? Will it sync with the native cell phone video app to stream crispy audio via Facebook or Instagram? Thanks!

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 роки тому

      I've used it with my Macbook, iPhone, GoPro, Sony A7III, and by itself with the internal recording, and it's super easy. Plugs in via the 3.5mm or via a usb-c to usb or usb-c to your Android or PC, and works as a normal external microphone. It's very easy to use, I've had zero problems when connecting it.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  3 роки тому +1

      That all depends on how close you are, the ambient noise, you'd have to set both up so the sound is clear and there is no peaking. I usually have my A7III on audio level 8 when using external mics, and then I set the Rode accordingly.
