Without first-hand knowledge of their roots, many of them can only shape their views of Africa based upon what has been said and written in both the media and distorted history books, which tells us of a continent full of war-torn countries, starving people and corrupt leaders, w…

They forgot about the early 90's and shows where us black folks in the u.s. were wearing African attire. The speech from the woman from Nigeria going to college, was around a bunch of orioles who hate being black as well as anybody from Africa. The African population who lives here need to stop moving to these prodomitly white areas and colleges and move to black areas that do except them and embrace their culture.

The children of ENslaved Africans are lost, miseducation and are apparently contented NOT to know, accept, adore, admire, embrace and preserve their ancestral African Heritage - the purity of the ONE their ancestors were told to despise and neglect.
In the late 60's/early 70's, many Jamaican Africans, led by singer Peter Tosh, were correctly affirming and re-affirming that:
"Don't matter [where you] come from, once [they call ] you a "black" man, YOU are an AFRICAN...
"Don't mind [your] nationality, YOU got the SAME identity - YOU'RE AN AFRICAN"
"If [your] complexion high, high, high...
    "If [your] complexion low,
    low, low...
"If [your] complexion [is] in between, YOU'RE STILL AN AFRICAN..."
    - -- - Peter Tosh.
    Let's have in the "worldsphere":
    "African Heritage Month"
    "African History Month"
Native/Indigenous Africans - the world over -must NOT surrender ownership of AFRICA.
    Or, of their Africanness...

Wyndhl "ENslaved" huh!? If Africa is like you, then it is not worth embracing. Every day 100's of Africans emigrate to the U.S. If not for the children of "ENslaved" Africans who suffereed, and fought against slavery, and racism to change the laws here in the U.S, non of you continentals could ever come here. Contemplate that! Lost ..My Ass!

Rico Arrington totally agree. It’s just that we are “multi-tribed”. So there is so many influences without some of us realizing. Like “Nana” means big mother, head mother, granny. And there’s influences even in Mexico and the other Americas. But if other Africans are uneducated about other African tribes/cultures then they’ll never know and dismiss us as what the media portrays. To add, we are judged and we too judge them by our “few” encounters with others. We have a lot to fix in terms of relations.

How can we embrace our roots while we see the Motherland loosing its Africanism and looking more western as these repoters? Use of English is westernization of Africa. Tribal languages should be a source of pride. We in America see that our Brothers and Sisters forgoing our traditional culture.

    • @xhalanga
      @xhalanga 4 роки тому +3

This channel is an international channel so it's audience is worldwide. That's why they use English there. But you have a point when you say we're being westernised. The fact that our leaders didn't throw away colonial Spanish, French, Portuguese and English still shows that there's a lot of work to be done. These languages are used in government administration and communication, education and in all spheres of life. African people therefore have to master one of them to be able to communicate with leaders and govt officials to make his point across. The question is why can't we do it in local languages! The languages that is understood by the majority of our people?
We do have local broadcasting media houses that broadcast in local languages. We do host cultural events and fashion thorough the year. So even after about 400 of colonisation and marginalisation of our languages and cultures the white man didn't do any damage as we managed to carry them across to today's generation intact. So don't lose hope don't despair. We the youth will rectify things for the future generations so that they don't have to go through what we went through.

Black Americans are most definitely of African ancestors. However the identity African American which is only used for blacks in the United States I wonder why the term is not used for African Jamaicans, African Brazilian, African Europeans, African Mexican, African Cubans, African Trinidadian, or any country with black. In African countries I learned that there's no African Nigerians, African Kenyans, African congos, African Egyptians, African Morocco's, etc they're Nigerians, kenyan, Egyptian etc from countries in the continent of motherland Africa. Black Americans can't discriminate or denied the horrific history our ancestors endure. The sad truth is that DNA reveal that around 70-80% blacks have atleast 25% European blood 2% native American blood and 65-80% African blood. And to be identified as African Americans is a for of discrimination and disrespect for our ancestors that were slaves with European and native blood running through their veins. I support with open arms the box that say African American/ Black American on applications or census. We suffered enough in America to be Black Americans and strongly support the African Diaspora.
