Is training twice a week Monday and Thursday hitting each body part twice a week the same as upper lower Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday? Monday bench, squat , barbell curl , bent over row, pullups , dips. Thursday deadlift overhead press incline bench dumbbell back row ,Hammer curls, lunges. I like splitting it up in 3 days Monday incline bench squat bent over row barbell curl. Wednesday deadlift overhead press pullups dips. Friday bench lunges back dumbbell row Hammer curls. Can I do this forever even if I get to intermediate? I'm 51
Yea, you're still hitting each muscle twice a week. You can do it for as long as you want. I've been training this way for years. If you stay on top of your volume and make sure you can handle it, you should be good.
@@KevinPatilla when you said stay on top of your volume what does that mean? I'm doing 3 sets flat bench Monday and 3 sets dips. Thursdays only three sets incline bench. Is that not enough? When I'm doing 2 full body workouts a week should I go for 6 sets a body part that would be 36 sets a session or is that to much I have hard time gaining weight? Thanks currently I'm doing 6 exercises 3 sets so 18 sets. Each session Monday Thursday.
If you hitting fbw 2 times a week. Pick 2 exercises per body part one compound and one isolation 3 sets each. For hamstring just do 2 sets and your arms as well. After hitting it twice a week your volume for big muscles will be at 12 sets a week and smaller ones will be at 8 sets. I do Tuesday and Fridays just to have a bit more recovery
Brother i find your videos very motivated and educational When you train your fullbody 3 times a week do you keep reps in tank some days or do you always try to hit failure ?Do you change the rep ranges ? How many sets do you average per muscle group ? Your friend, Petros
Thank you my friend! Yes, I keep reps in the tank sometimes. I never train to failure. I try to keep a rep in the tank if possible. 90% of the time, I keep my rep ranges the same. If I don't have heavy enough weight, I have no choice but to do higher reps. 90% of my training is what you see in my videos. I do the same lifts over and over until I hit my goals.
@@petrosantoniou8381 I think it will vary from person to person. Some people can handle more volume than others. More sets may result in more muscle, but how much more muscle? I wouldn't risk adding more sets if that's going to stop me from training a muscle as frequently as possible. More volume doesn't necessarily mean more muscle because the human body can only build so much muscle at a time.
@@KevinPatilla Thank you for your answer and opinion brother .I am asking because we have all seen strong guys with less muscle and pump guys with light weights with muscles they actually dont earn. At the moment i try fullbody with 3-5 sets per muscle each day .
@@KevinPatilla awesome. I really got to try this. I usually did 2-3 warmup sets and 2-3 working sets for each lift. Took me over an hour and half in the gym and was extremely tiring. I haven’t been in the gym since September due to long-haul covid but I think (hope) I’m finally getting my energy back. Looking forward to trying this reduced volume soon
I hope you fully recover from covid and get back to slanging weights around! 2 to 3 working sets is, IMO, way too much especially when you're doing full body workouts and hitting each muscle 2 to 3 times a week. That's a crazy amount of volume. I bet you were probably dreading working out. Just try out the reduced volume approach and see how you like it bro.
@@KevinPatilla I actually was dreading my workouts. And never really was fully consistent. Is was always tired and achy, thought I was just getting older but I’m sure the volume was just too much. Thanks again, man! Hoping to get back to the gym Friday and do some light sets, gauge my current strength levels

Are you still doing a bunch of warmup sets and one working set?
Yes, 2 or 3 warmup sets and one heavy set

I'm rooting for you bro! Take it one workout at time and don't get discouraged. Hang in there, you'll be back in no time my guy!
Is it ok if I train all my muscles only once a week
Way better than not training at all :)
I think once a week is more for maintaining. If you want to effectively build muscle and strength, I'd say atleast twice a week.
@KevinPatilla If you lift only twice a week, should you do two working sets to make up for the loss of volume?
Hypertrophy
