It's not the same thing. Buying stocks means you are buying a share of the company. Stock value on the face is based on the earning of the company. Pokemon cards don't have an intrinsic value
By definition, buying stocks would be scalping. You’re buying a part of a company with the intentional to sell it for more in the future. Do I think it’s silly to view an investor that way, yes, but that doesn’t take away from the legitimacy of the argument.
The irony of the first story about the reddit guy complaining is that there are still plenty of products that can be purchased for MSRP or close to it....but of course the problem for that person is that they can't get the single hottest set for MSRP. If you want to open some packs there is shining fates ETBS for $50 (MSRP) all day, every day on ebay....but guess what? That person doesn't want that set now because there are no super big pulls anymore.
@@PokeProfitI had this same exact argument today on FB and I was telling this guy all the Pokemon Center products that are undervalued atm and when they go up he will be upset. What a “true collector” mentality pfft 😂
Bro really said"Investing and scalping are LITTERALLY the same thing" and then proceeded to explain the differences and provide examples showing how they're different 😂
@PokeProfit as you describe in the video the time delay is the difference. If you go to costco and buy 10 boxes of blooming waters, you believe that's the same activity as holding a case of evolving skies for 3 years? Of course not and you describe it.
@@jakefarmer3122 As per the definition, there is no timeline when it comes to investments making it irrelevant. Anything that you sell for a large profit, whether it's instantly or over three years, can be classified as scalping. Anything sold quickly for profit, can be classified as scalping, but also as an investment. By definition, it's literally impossible to have the existence of scalping without the existence of investment. There is nothing that doesn't overlap. The ONLY category that would not qualify, would be failed investments; something you did not make money on. You could argue for the existence of an investment that is both "not large" and "not quick", but at that point you're just arguing over semantics and often subjective interpretations of those words when it reality no one even cares at that point since you'd be so far removed from the actual topic being discussed.

The key attribute of a scalper is that she does not want to keep the product. Best is to distinguish between flippers and holders.
I feel so bad those kids won't be able to gamble their parent's money btw I can't buy the most popular set I quit. Oh and my collection is only 151.
We are always going to have big babies in the hobby lol
People have too kuch time lol
100% Agree
Sitting Pokémon out and working on my finances lol this will be sitting on shelves in a year when they can resell other sets
Time will tell. Never hurts to regroup and work on finances though.
people do get pissed about blackrock buying houses but point made on people buying houses and arent called scalpers
People should be about 1000x more pissed about the housing market than they are about cardboard. But I guess pulling the moonbreon 2.0 is priorities
english lesson :p
Sorry I don’t speak English, I speak Canadian.
People whining about people whining about people whining about people whining about cardboard.
And now I'm whining about that.
Can get fusion strike packs and other SWSH on Pokemon Center for under market value rn. I guess that’s not good enough anymore 🤷♂️
@@PokeProfitI had this same exact argument today on FB and I was telling this guy all the Pokemon Center products that are undervalued atm and when they go up he will be upset. He proceeds to say all of that is junk so I told him what auxiliary products have these “hot sets” he was talking about and he said “the return on them isn’t the same as a booster box” Lmfao cornered him right into admitting he just wants what’s expensive for a cheap price and that he isn’t really wanting these packs he’s talking about but the products that are moving. What a “true collector” mentality pfft 😂
did you compare abortion to Pokemon cards?
Not at all, and if that’s the conclusion you came to after watching the video you might be suffering from brain rot.
Bro really said"Investing and scalping are LITTERALLY the same thing" and then proceeded to explain the differences and provide examples showing how they're different 😂
They are, by definition, the same thing.
The end result is selling something for gain.
What is difficult to understand about that?
😂😂😂😂
The childrens are starving, we need to feed them Pokemon cards 🥹
Lots of protein and micronutrients in cardboard!
