    It's great, but at $318 (as of 4/2019) you may as well get a real washing machine. Sell this glorified salad spinner for under $100 and I'll buy one.

    • @RakelDaNell
      @RakelDaNell 5 років тому +21

      318? Yikes... I can find 2 decent used top loaders for that price and get a decade out of em. But this thing would be so convenient for those quick tiny loads, like right after a workout.

      @@youliantroyanov2941 I think there's some definite uses for it. I wish I had something like this back when I lived in an apartment and schlepped a hefty bag of clothes, sheets and towels to a laundromat every week - I'd have gladly done a few pieces every night in my kitchen or shower stall with this thing to avoid that, It looks like a better cleaning/less effortful thing than the Laundry Pod, for example, but it costs about 6 x the Laundry Pod. Forget it.

      If the price of electricity is £1.00 (being generous) an hour for a washing machine, then that's 320 hours you'd need to do in order to get your money's worth. I'm not sure if I would have the patience for that. However, the more expensive electricity is, the more it's worth it. It all depends on how many hours you want to put into this, and how long you think it would last.

    As much as I love the idea of the foot power over the hand crank, price wins me over for the hand crank.
    I would only being using this for power outages, camping or single wash by hand items.

    somebody should make the bigger version of this with pedals like static bicycle, so you can exercise and washing at the same tme.
    The only problem is that you can't clean your clothes when you are feeling too lazy to exercise. LOL

    A cheaper washer is to buy a new Home Depot or Lowe's 5 gallon bucket with lid and a new plumbing plunger. Cut a 1" hole in the center of the lid place the handle of the plunger through the hole. Add clothes, soap and water, put the lid on and plunge the clothes clean like you're churning butter. You can rinse the clothes in the same fashion. You can use hot water with this bucket washer

    I like the concept of the foot pedal.... the hand crank type...for me is a challenge cuz you need both hands and if you can only use one hand wouldn't be stable.... by same issue, most folks can use one foot. I also like the choices of color options....most of all....I live that it spins without the damage caused by the average electric types. signed: stroke patient on a budget.

      Max Beefsteak Hello Max! While the Drumi was originally made with personal items and delicates in mind, we have been able to wash 1 pair of jeans at a time. The Drumi can hold 5 pounds of clothing - that measures to around 7 personal items (t-shirts, boxers, socks, etc), or 3 sweaters. We do not recommend bed sheets or towels as they are a bit too heavy. :)

    It seems a bit spendy ($239) for how little clothing you can fit in it, but it also seems like it can pay for itself pretty quick in power savings. Perfect concept for a single off-gridder, but maybe not as practical for a large family with kids. I wonder how durable these are and what kind of warranty comes with it.

    I think it is good if you have no washer/dryer in your home, nor the connectors for it. However not for 300$ per machine. They have other machines that are better for that much.

    Question about the detergents used here: I noticed three different kinds, I think? Or am I wrong (because they're all blue)? Why would you have three seperate sections if the detergents get mixed up anyway? And what would be the third kind, apart from laundry detergent and fabric softener?

    YiREGO YiREGO it looks like the water gets directly released to the floor. Can that be made different for indoor usage outside a laundry room? Why isn't there a hose for controlled release?

      Goth108 Hello! Great question! We are in the process of developing an attachable hose for draining :)

  • @alexweaver4888
    @alexweaver4888 8 років тому

    I'm definitely considering this but I noticed a water drop fall onto the person's foot at the start of the video - I don't want this to be a leaker. And also I'm not really in favour of pressing a button and have water go all over the floor when it needs emptying out.

    • @YiREGOYiREGO
      @YiREGOYiREGO  8 років тому

      +Alex Weaver The Drumi won't be a leaker so to speak. The Drumi in the video was an older prototype and we have made improvements. The Drumi will come with a drainage hose to make draining easier and less messy.

    • @warzonehardcore
      @warzonehardcore 9 років тому +3

      Wiromax3 I've read somewhere that you use 5 L. of water for washing with soap, and then you use 5 more L. with no soap just for remove it and at the same time as spin cycle.
      It is right? YiREGO YiREGO

    • @YiREGOYiREGO
      @YiREGOYiREGO  9 років тому +4

      Madball NY Exactly. After the two minute wash cycle, the water is released using the button located at the back. Then, another 5 liters of fresh water is added and spun for 2 minutes for a rinse cycle. That water is released and spin cycle is done for one minute without water :)

    Interesting. I guess you rinse by hand? or refill and rinse?
    I'd be more inclined if there was an agitator, like the ole top loaders, as the new front loaders kinda blow. Especially, since they have removed phosphates from detergent.

    Not a lot of apartments have a drain in the floor. With water in it, I wouldn't be able to lift it to the sink to drain. And how would you push the pedal if it were on a counter? Does the drum spin both ways during washing? Because I already had a Lehman's hand-crank, which did not work well because it spun only one way and did not agitate. It's agitation which forces the soapy water through the clothes and really cleans them.
