Returning the Mexican gray wolf to the New Mexico wilderness is returning the heart of the southwest to the nation. Wolves are a keystone and integral species to natural biodiversity, interdependency, and the control of finite resources.
The federal government needs to stay out of these regional issues and stop mandates for predators being reintroduced. They've failed in Michigan, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and now Colorado. Getting the federal government back in the Mexican grey wolf areas again is going to be nothing but a nightmare. Usfs and us fish and wildlife has nothing to do with game and population management and only creates conflict and chaos for established and well operating state agencies. These are NOT migratory species and therefore not federally managed animals. Habitat development and population management is out of control without proper regulations and communication, not mandates from 2000 miles east.

Although the path has been often contentious, it seems necessary accommodations have been reached. Well done to all parties.
