I miss the captain when the level cap was 50. I maximized my hope and war standards and would start with the hope, once I lost the 3k or so extra health it provided I would switch to the war and also use my 2k man heal if the switch didn't bring my moral to full. Never lost a spar this way and ended up with quite a server rep on Meneldor, the fight would be pretty even until I switched from hope to war. From the enemy perspective it just looked like half way through I would fully heal and start hitting harder and they would loose all hope. Oh the glory days.
Animation duration is my main frustration with captains. You play guardian and champion and it’s not there at all but it’s like the captain needs to stop and pose on every skill use.
Gotta say love the comment about a cappy using more horns in animations... that would be amazing, but I love the video, you could prob make a few based on your fav classes and such, thanks for the video !
when I started back during RoI I was going to play Burg but everyone said it wasn't a good class for someone who was new to Lotro, so I tried all of them and was leveling LM , Hunter and Cappy..I ended up going with Hunter / cappy and I liked them both so I would switch back and forth leveling them and ended up maining a hunter..was a lot of fun. I tried over the years to get back into cappy but it just never captured my attention like my hunter.
I know you posted this a year ago but wanted to comment on my newish endgame experience with red line Captain. In groups it's a lot of fun. Solo is very iffy. I was extremely disappointed at how squishy they seem to be for a heavy armor class against many trash mobs. My guy is mostly wearing crafted Gundabad armor with some very nice jewelry/bracelets. Regardless, it really surprised me that they still take so much damage, and healing through it is rough. ha ha Whaddya think? Is this accurate or mayhaps I'm doing something wrong? Yellow line he holds up fine. Edit: typo.
Somewhere between medium and ultra high... I have a lot of settings optimized for using OBS (recording and streaming) and a balance between performance in newer and more taxing zones and areas and still maintaining for me a decent visual quality. Here's a bunch of screenshots of my settings... hope it helps! imgur.com/a/GZOjvyh
@@Louey7 big thanks. My buddy is struggling with the launcher. Got the game working once but now it keeps downloading prerequisites and getting stuck there. Ever hear of something like that?
My main is a Captain. I payed it in Red line for many years and was not impresses, before it got buffed it had bad DPM, the class is very heavily rotation specific to get the best DPM and I found it a little too soft when it came to survivability. I never liked the Blue line much, I could not get that hang of it and at end game no one plays the line. The Yellow line is my favored for the Class, but mostly at end game. Yellow line is very tough, I run it with a lot of blue line tree traits to tank with it. I often find that I am healing alot as I tank. Its self heal, especially with the new buff for the Yellow mark heal which can heal almost 2 times the Captains HP a minute gives it an advantage over a Guardian. But a Yellow Captain does not kill anything very fast. It can lose agro, especially if a fellowship member uses high DPM skills early in a fight, but it now has two ranged agro skills and one is a multiple target agro. I do agree the pet is pretty much useless, in fact its often a liability in raids because it cant run away from the group when it gets a debuffs and can easily spread those debuffs through the fellowship because of this. My biggest issue with the class is something you did not mention. I has no decent ranged weapon which it can use to easily grab agro. Yes it has a shout, two ranged agro skills and a flag but its not the same as having bow to simply ping a target and bring it to you. The throwing axes have never been upgraded to end game and they take up inventory as well. You really notice this in Solo instances where you need ranged weapons to hit a target and you have to start sit there and shout and flag it to death, its supper frustrating to not have the little extra bow auto attack damage in between cool downs.

I don’t. Captains had extreme power problems and fate really didn’t work as advertised.
Captain will always be my favorite class

Didn’t realize you were back doing LOTRO videos! Great stuff.
Have to agree about the captain's pet they are just about useless at higher levels kinda disappointing some work needs to be done there.

I encourage this new format. Find it refreshing. My game play changed dramatically after i got a proper rotation

Yeah I'm not sure what it is but melee on my captain feels horrible compared to my beorning.
My biggest issue with the captain is the long cooldowns...i could never make it past lvl 20.
I’m pretty sure it gets better around lvl 30ish
Love the video...I've been away from the game for 5 years... would love to see a guide on best class for 2020 for solo player...thank you
What setting do you use to get the game to move so smooth. I'm new and struggling. My pc is pretty beefy too.

Great video! Could you do Hunter next? :P
Looking into doing Warden, RK, and hunter for the next few to get started on!
When can the captain use a shield? I have a level 5 and so far I can't use a shield.
It looks like level 15! (Keep in mind, only light shields)
You wouldn't happen to have a good guild that's active would you? Lol I need friends in this game
What server are you on?
Hey @ Patrick Ryan, I still play. Just chat here or something and we can move to Discord or something. Cheers, m8!
