    Putting the soft loop straps (Harley sells them as as well as many others) around the fork downtubes above the fender brackets will lock the front wheel in place and allows the suspension to work normally without potentially dangerous slackening of the tie downs.

    Well Jerry I can't agree with you that that is the best bike trailer, it's not enclosed. I bought a 5x8 v-nose enclosed trailer about 10 or so years ago for $1,800 with 4 D-ring tie downs. I got a cheap removable chock for about $35 and it's worked great all of that time. I traveled all over the country with that rig for about 2 years and it never let me down. I could put it in hotel parking lots and no one knew what was in it. The best thing for me was that it doubles as a mouse proof garage. The last feature is important if you live in the country. Keep the good stuff coming.

    I could certainly use it from time to time. My wife had a stroke so we don't do long distance rides anymore. She is only good for about 3 hours of riding. Then we have to stop for some time. I canceled wing ding this year because I couldn't go with her. And that would of been my first time at wing ding. But wifes comfort is more important to me. So I will try to get one so I can just pull my bike down there. We'll maybe next year. Great job on video

    Hey Jerry, I like your Ride Like a Pro videos. Well done brother! I will say, the ProZ trailer is a great design, pretty 'industrial strength' and well-built. I built a Harbor Freight (1750 lb capacity) foldable trailer for my 2006 BMW K1200GT. I just wish UA-cam allows uploads of photos in the comment section so I could show everyone.
    Cost around $550 for the trailer, and about another $500 for the 4'x8' cut-in-half 3/4" plywood and non-slip paint , spare tire and mount, HD extending trailer jack, 6 E-track tie-down anchors and hooks, 6 ft x 30 in foldable aluminum ramp (1200 lb capacity), replacement bolts, upgraded (bigger) casters, and extra parts to make mine. Came out great.

    I have seen this type of trailer for years. they look like the easiest to load! BUT I am a firm believer in motorcycle tie downs should be atached below the shock absorber area. Bike should be able to float on the suspension while on trailer just as on the road. I had a Harley tied in a Condor wheel holder and tied above the shocks. While going down the highway hit a very large uneven area and bounced one tie down off the bike. The Condor saved the bike from laying down. They also say that loading the suspension is bad for the shocks

    • @jonmulack4226
      @jonmulack4226 3 роки тому

      I had the same issue of bouncing. Always figured the higher it was tied, the more leverage the straps had. I had 2 bikes in a enclosed trailer lose the straps. Been trailering for bikes for over 40 years and this was the 2nd mishap for me. 2 solutions. Use duct to keep straps from falling off. Works, but very cheesy idea... We tied from a "unsuspended" point on the bike. Axels, brake calipers ect. They dont move with suspension and they never budged in over 3000 miles. Also, do you people feel that all the tie straps should pull in the same direction(forward into chock), or 4 straps pulling in different directions? I would like to hear the debate. I feel all 4 pulling forward are working together instead of against each other. I used a similar trailer when I worked for Dealer 20 years ago and they are THE best and only gotten better with time and technology.

    • @bugkiller5293
      @bugkiller5293 3 роки тому

      @@jonmulack4226 I use ratchet straps with the locking hooks. Harley sells a very nice set. I use the Condor to hold the bike. I put one ratchet strap around the front upright post and wheel. This holds the bike very securely in the Condor. another strap goes forward at the same point. The rear of the bike gets a strap on either side of the bike going to the sides to keep it from bouncing and also from walking sideways. Again all attachments are below the shocks.

    I bought a single. Has a spare tire and 14 inch tires. Also a rock guard. Trailer Jack that helps. Used it to trailer my triumph trophy se to Taos. It is fantastic. Love it. Just used tie downs around front bottom of my shocks. Two straps in back. Easy peasy. Trailer pulls so easy. One note Is spare tire was a little too far forward, pushed on my RAV4 bumper. It popped right back out. Moved spare tire mount father back.

    I choose to not use crash bars for tie down. The front bar is held by a single 5/16 bolt in the center. Trailering tie downs installed under the passing lamp bolts work best.

    Jerry, one thing Important here, the hooks on your straps have to be equipped with locking segments, or Duct-Tape them.explanations, As I was coming to Florida one winter, I had my FLH TIED UP IN MY CARGO fifth-whell, and down on the road, where , due to road unevenness, the suspension on the Bike bottomed out numerous times, and me unaware, the first nightstop at hotel I went to check things up in the trailer, to my dismay , I found two strap hooks undone, and the bike had knocked against the outer wall of the trailer, that is when I found out I had to Duct-tape all fouur hooks.just my two cents. Cheers.

Now days if trailer my Harley I attach the straps to the front down tubes

    Have you ever had a problem hooking them to your crash bars. I've been riding motorcycles since 1965 and I thought I was doing it right by strapping it down using my handlebars. Somebody pointed out that really strapping it down by your fork legs is much better idea. That's the way I do mine now. There's no play when you hit a bumper your straps don't bounce loose. I'm thinking maybe you ought to think of that. Good video nice trailer though. I have a video on my Channel about tying my motorcycle into my trailer.

    Hopefully they'll make one that'll carry two Ultra Classics side-by-side. Then I'd be in.

    Hey Jerry
    Could you talk more about police handle bars. Trying to outfit my 02 RK . Maybe a part # and how and where to buy them.
    Thanks

      Sure. H.D. police bars are from H.D. police Road Kings and H.D. can supply the part number and the bars.

    great job jerry i thumbed it! but i , got2jealous and tired of u riding and testing new bikes lately.... (which i do like u do that now, and not just crazy gravity defying uturns) in ur retirement life...but like this product, tell me this, can you not wrap the forks or wheel w/spokes when transporting? i have even seen guys wrap the handlebars to the trailer? thanks

    Do you ever use a block or something to go between the wheel and underside of the finder to when you hit bumps the shocks don't compress and make the tie downs lose enough to maybe come lose ?

    Why wouldn't you go around the crash bar and the frame, with soft strap, where they connect? Seems it would lock the strap into place.

    Was seriously considering buying this trailer but the MSRP has gone up to $4350. Thats in enclosed trailer territory.
