I live in Boronia not far from the glorious old Boronia Mall. I remember going there not long after it first opened and remembering how busy it was. Now, sadly, it is akin to a ghost mall a ghost town with so many closed businesses, only a very few remain that are active. Many attempts over the years have been made to revive the Mall but they have all failed. Many factors have led to its huge demise and decline one of which would have been Knox Shopping Centre. Ps: I love the old tiled wall in the Mall it serves as a reminder of how things once were and should be classified as old forgotten art.
An interesting history. Although I'd managed the signals in Dorset Rd and Boronia Rd and environs for 15+ years after the train line went underground, I never went into the mall 'proper'... but the photos show that it was very much a 'Doncaster Shoppingtown' wannabe, down to the facades of the shops, the suspended 'fountain', the 'split level' walkways & stairs and the 'crossbridges' between the 'upper levels'... all of which were quite different to Eastland, Chadstone (at the time) and Box Hill Plaza (around a similar time). Fascinatin'...
Who remembers K-Food. An attempt in the 1980’s to have a hypermart style store of department store and supermarket combined. Think they later tried to brand it ‘Super-K’. Didn’t work for some reason.
Very sad the 70s where the best time to grow up in Boronia. The record shop is still there hat's of to them it must get pretty depressing in there centre management needs akick in the arse.

Someone tried to carjack me in Boronia at the Boronia Rd/Dorset Rd lights about 15 years ago. I called it "Bosnia" after that.
